Room Mate Oscar

This was a great place to stay. The room was perfect, fully equipped and very comfortable. There is a roof top bar and pool area which is stunning to use - beautiful views of the city from there. The staff were very helpful and lovely to deal with as they recommended some things to do and see in Madrid. There is a breakfast option which was lovely and there is also a Starbucks downstairs. The location is also very central and is a close walk to the center area of the city. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend.

Overall, the experience was great right from the start... The greeting was really friendly when we checked in. Checking in was quick but not rushed, and the staff made us feel wonderfully welcome. There were some lovely free snacks upon arrival, although only on the first day (we stayed for five nights). The style of the room was modern. The bed was really large, which was perfect. There was also a sofa. There was a good view. The blackout curtain was effective. The staff said hola whenever we came in and out, which was pleasant. I would stay at this hotel if I visit Madrid again, and I will look out for other hotels in the Room Mate chain in future.

A few minor gripes... The room was not cleaned one day, and when I rang reception they transferred the call to another department but nobody answered, so the room didn't get cleaned. The bathroom door opened onto the shower door – it was very awkwardly designed. There were only two hooks for towels which made drying items difficult. The room was a bit dark even with all of the lights on, and there were about a dozen different light switches, which was just confusing. I would have liked the pool to stay open an hour later.

Firstly the hotel staff were absolutely amazing and super friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. It was clean, the room was pretty spacious. Great location and only 20ish minutes from the airport. I would recommend and would stay again.

Although it has great reviews about the rooftop bar/pool. We didn't really get to use it. The first night, half of the bar was booked out for a private party, so we had to go to the terrace (until it rained). The 2nd night we couldn't use it at all, as the whole bar was booked out for a private event. Which was a shame as the but we did get to see was nice. The bar staff were hit and miss as well. But the one's that were helpful/friendly were great! The bathroom is slightly smaller due to it not taking up too much room space. Did feel like I might slip over in the shower (I didn't), but could do with some anti slip on the shower floor.

You want to visit Madrid and need somewhere to stay...where do you start. Room Mate Oscar is ideal. - roof top pool to cool off in the afternoon when you've had enough sightseeing - very helpful staff team...nothing is too much trouble - breakfast included which is served until 12 noon every day...no need to get up early (normal €15 each) - we upgraded our room, great shower, safe, large screen TV, fridge, great air conditioning, comfortable beds - fabulous location, one street away from Gran Via - the hotel can even sell you the hop on, hop off bus ticket which is worth it if it's your first time in Madrid - there is a Starbucks under neath the hotel and a 24 hour shop opposite - we got a free taxi journey thrown in from the airport however it is €30 set fee or you can get the train or bus Lots of hotels in Madrid to choose from however we really enjoyed staying at Room Mate Oscar, it was perfect

Brilliant location, good size rooms and lovely staff on reception

The roof top bar is a little confusing when you first visit as the staff ignore you, so not sure if you have to wait to be seated, not sure if you have to go to the bar to get served because if you go straight to a table they dont come and ask for your order so i ended up ordering at the bar but after they came to the table staff could have been more welcoming when you first go there. Also massively disappointed that the pool was closed in May, I am sure when I booked it said the pool was covered and open all year but at the hotel it said pool only open June to September, we chose this hotel because we wanted a pool

the location of the hotel is excellent if you like having close access to great restaurants, bars, museums and many other worthy attractions. The hotel is great and centrally located. However, for sleeping purposes this hotel was quiet. The beds are very comfortable and the room, though not gigantic, is large enough for a very long weekend.

Everything was great. It you twist my arm, I would say, for the room we were in, a bit more counter space in the bathroom would have been nice. However, even without that it is a great hotel.

I had a lovely room on the 7th floor but unfortunately because of this, the noise from the bar (which does not close until 1am) makes it impossible to sleep. people leaving the bar will walk past the room, and most nights they are loud. maybe on a weekend I would not mind, but when you have an early flight the next morning, it is not ideal! so this would be my disappointment with the hotel . more so the particular room. probably would be fine on a lower floor

The manager welcomed us with some complimentary prosecco on the rooftop bar, which was such a great way to start our trip in Madrid! We had a triple room and it was very large. The hotel interior is gorgeous and beds are really comfortable. The rooftop bar is one of the most popular rooftop bars in Madrid and guests get 15% off drinks. The breakfast was fabulous. Great coffee and selection of delicious food. The location is excellent. We didn't get a cab or metro once. You're in walking distance of everything. Hotel seems to be in a lively area but we didn't heat anything at night.

The pool wasn't open until June unfortunately

From check in (very friendly & professional reception team), to the excellent bar/pool team(s), we enjoyed an excellent week at RM Oscar. Attention to detail (e.g. hand written welcome card in room) as well as high standard of room in general (size, comfort, cleanliness, including housekeeping) were superb & also were lucky to have a room facing Plaza de Pedro Zerolo, so very little (if anything) to complain about. Also -a bonus is the excellent rooftop bar with some good views across Madrid, as well as the pool on the roof. Location is also very good, 20 second walk onto Gran Via & Metro stations 5-10 minutes walk, so very easy to access. When we return to Madrid, would definitly consider and recommend RM Oscar again, without hesitation. Oh - we originally booked & paid for the trip back in November 2019 for Summer 2020 - obviously this had to be postponed, then again in 2021 for obvious reasons....Both times the hotel staff dealing with this were extremely understanding & professional in re-arranging the visits, so a final thanks & well done to them!!

The hotel is modern, centrally situated. it has a nice rooftop terrace with pool. The best is the people of the hotel are very friendly, smiling every day and give you a warm welcome. Next to the hotel are a Starbucks, various small supermarkets and an ok restaurant. One street further there are all kind of restaurants and bars. The hotel and the neighbourhood are very gay friendly.

If you are a light sleeper, make sure they don’t place you on the 7th floor. That’s the entrance to the rooftop. It’s not the music at the bar, but it’s the visitors that are sometimes very loud when walking from the bar to the elevator when the bar closes (around 1 am). This despite the efforts the staff does to ask to be quiet.
