Our stay at the Macleay Hotel was enhanced by the exceptional service from the front desk staff, particularly Mon. Mon's invaluable hints and suggestions made exploring Sydney a joy, with a scenic 30-minute walk from the hotel to the iconic Sydney Opera House. The hotel's central location, near shops and a bus stand, provided convenience, and a delightful 30-minute stroll through the Botanical Garden led to the ferry terminal, offering not only practicality but also beautiful views of the Sydney Opera House from different angles. I highly recommend the Macleay Hotel for its prime location, welcoming atmosphere, and the thoughtful assistance provided by Mon.

On the 3rd floor at Macleay Hotel, the district view is limited to apartments, making it less ideal for those seeking scenic vistas. However, friendly staff can help you access the rooftop, offering a great opportunity for beautiful Instagram photos with a more expansive view.

The kitchenette was perfectly compact and well equipped. The location is really good as it offers easy access Botanical gardens, Opera House, ferries... but also the local areas is full of lovely cafes, restaurants and shops

This is not a hotel but apart hotel which was not clear. There are no common areas in reality as the only common area is the so.ehwat poorly maintained outdoor terrace overlooked by apartment buildings from all side. The furniture is a bit dated. The doors are old fashioned and do not have electronic keys so you are given one physical key to share between you. The other irritating thing is the quality of the toilet paper they use. The one on Sydney public toilets is much better. Overall I do not have a feeling that we stayed at the 4* property but we certainly did pay 4* price for it

The staff, especially the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. I had a great harbor view from my room. It was very nice having breakfast watching the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge from my room. The gym is 5 min walk away from the hotel. It’s well equipped and the gym staff are very friendly as well. If I ever come back to Sydney, this is where I’ll stay.

Wonderful bay view, large, clean room with fully equipped kitchenette. Small fridge with decent size freezer was appreciated. Well located ( approx 25 minute walk to opera house) and on-site car parking super convenient.

Minor maintenance items needed. Eg; -door key needed a few attempts to open door. -power point for phone adjacent to tv not working. -curtain not fully closing ( so lets the sun in - I used the table against the wall to hold both curtain’s together) -shower screen not fully closing -car park a bit tight in places (especially if you need to turn around to leave)

The location is fantastic. The pool is great. The price to value ratio is exceptional. Front desk staff go above and beyond. Like a 5 star hotel.

Not much to fault, it was pretty great over all, just a few very minor things: the shower head is kind of flimsy and it’s hard to aim, we asked for it to be fixed but it never was. Also house keeping is a bit inconsistent at times. Our room was half made up once, next day the extra bed was folded up, so we had to put it back.

The hotel is in a great location, easy to access public transport and having a supermarket across the road was very convenient. The beds were comfortable and the kids loved the pool. They offer towels for the pool which is very handy as it is next to impossible to get anything dry in the room. It would be good if the room had a clothes horse for drying bathers, beach towels etc. Having car parking on site was one of the reasons I booked this hotel and we were able to park the whole time (although $30-$40 per day is expensive on top of the room charge, I understand this is probably in line with parking rates in Sydney). The car park is very small though so if you have a large vehicle I’m not sure you would be able to fit. We booked a harbour view room which was worth the extra money. The room was small so having the harbour view made it feel a bit more spacious.

I feel like the room needed a deep clean - a thorough dust and vacuum around the edges and the window sills were dirty (black/mould on the aluminum frames). The bathroom shower is in an awkward position and if you are a larger person I think you would find it difficult to get in the shower. It is quite noisy. Our room was next to the lift so we could hear the lift every time it went up and down. The air conditioner is also VERY loud but does a good job at blocking out the lift and other patrons noises. It is very loud white noise though so if you are sensitive to noise I’d recommend taking ear plugs.

Really great view, had marvellous Syndey skyline with the Bridge and opera house. The studio room was great with kitchenette, with a microwave and hotplate for cooking. Bathroom had nice walk in shower, and enjoyed the overhead rain showerhead. There was a supermarket across the street to easily get food supplies to cook our own breakfast, and also enjoyed breakfast at cafe on same street. (The hotel did offer a simple breakfast room service). The public transport in Sydney was great with a bus stop just outside the hotel.

The bathroom had a small change in height to the bedroom, which I stumbled over first time entering the bathroom Remembered it after that, but perhaps a white strip or something to highlight the 'step' would have been beneficial.

Great view of the Harbour bridge and the Opera House, bathroom was clean and seemed new, kitchenette in the room was handy. Liked knowing there was a pool although we did not get a chance to use it.

Thought the room was a bit small when I first walked in. But got used to it. Great view and mirrors compensated for this. It’s a shame the lift blocks the view of the reception desk when you walk in. You don’t feel welcomed and noticed when you walk in and out. Perhaps, block one side of the entry with a sofa or pot plants so guest have to walk past the reception desk to get to the lift.

Great location, great , Very clean, Contains a kitchenette with everything you need including a microwave. Great transport available so easy to get around. Parking on site. Staff were great especially Paolo. Where we wanted to go as we had an appointment the next morning wasn't in the hotel map he got the street directory found it then printed the page for us. Exceptional. He is an asset to the motel. Though we only stayed one night we will definitely re-booked and stay longer. We loved it. This motel is a hidden gem

What I would change is that I would only put the double be in the room by itself not with a single bed included as that pushed the double bed against the wall.
