Sonder The Beverley

Location was great. Easy access to all main areas of Toronto, plus plenty of places to eat. 15 min walk to the CN tower. 20 mins to the water front. 15 mins walk to the Eaton centre if you like shopping! Cafe downstairs were amazing - not related to the hotel though. Room though compact had everything that we needed. Little note was a nice added touch.

Confusion on how to get into the room. As we had no access to a phone - from the UK, couldn’t contact the number given to ring. Luckily the staff in the cafe were amazing and allowed us to use their mobile phone so we could ring the number. Would have been nice for someone to be there when we arrived.

Nice place for a short stay. Luckily our room had a window (which is not the case for other rooms), everything was very clean. There is a mini fridge, a coffee machine, an iron… The location is ideal. The bathroom is equipped well with shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. I enjoyed the fact that in the corridor there were essential equipment we could take if needed like clean towels, coffee…

The app: The entire check-in process is through an app - you need data and phone service to set up your check-in so it was very complicated and there is no desk for any issues. When I arrived the first day I still did not receive a mail with the code for my room, so I had to find Wifi somewhere to look for it. The room is very very small, it was good for staying 3 days but not more. It is like a capsule hotel. It is a bit expensive for the size and service.

The room had everything I needed. The AC was easy to work with and the smartTV was a very nice addition to relax in the evening. I had the best experience with luggage storage after my check-out. The location is fantastic, 10mins walk to the CN tower and 25mins walk to the main train station.

Be careful if you forget your phone and don’t remember the code. I locked myself outside of the property. Luckily I managed to get help from a lovely lady who let me log into my sonder account on her phone. Would be great if there was a way to contact the personnel from the entrance, or just don’t do like me and write the code down or don’t forget your phone.

The line of Sonder hotels do not have any staff on the premise. This made it a little difficult to deal with some issues, as you have to call a hotline and stay on hold each time.

Location can't be beat for walking access to downtown sites as well as easy Uber/taxi to the island airport. The app and provided check-in code made check-in very easy. I appreciated the comfortable bed, wifi, Nespresso coffee maker and view of the street (soundproof).

Without any hotel amenities or on-site staff, the location is the main draw of the Sonder Beverly. For me it was worth it, but you can get more hotel for your money elsewhere. Although I was able to store luggage for a few hours, it was a bit nerve-wracking (I just left it in the room without a ticket or code, etc and needed to use the app to request someone to bring it out to me).

Excellent downtown location. Easy access. Check-in was easy. The rooftop patio was an awesome bonus - and the staff were amazing!! The room was compact, but was well laid out to fit all of our belongings. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The stairs are a good leg workout - we were aware ahead of time that there wasn’t an elevator.

If you’re on vacation to hang out in your room, then this place may not be for you… it is compact. It was fine for us, as we were out doing our adventures… and it was a nice place to come back to.

The location was fantastic, so central. We liked that it was all coded rather than keys. It was no problem at all that there’s no front desk as if we needed to speak to someone they were readily available using the app. The Dyson heater to warm the room was great as well once we’d found it!

The temperature of our shower on a few days was kind of cold but we didn’t report it as on the rest of the days it was absolutely fine. I’m sure if we’d said something they would have helped to sort it but we weren’t too bothered

Location was great, close to everything we needed and had a great view of the street and city life! The selection of tea and coffee was also superb.. The room was very small but it was cosy and having a smart tv was perfect for unwinding after a long day.

The hot water failed for the shower on our last evening, and on the day we checked out it was still barely warm. I didn't contact anyone about this because we were leaving imminently but was a bit disappointed to not have a nice hot shower before we moved on to our next destination. The bed was quite small, and we could hear noise from other rooms from the hallway.

Very well designed room for being so small. No staff stays onsite but quick response to all inquiries and Sonder staff who came to assist were cheerful and helpful. Mine even checked me in early so I didnt have to store my bags. Hotel was quiet except for Sat. night rooftop party but even that ended by 11. Very convenient for Toronto International Film Festival- all within walking distance

Would like to have bedside light switches so wouldn't have to get out of bed to turn off lights at night 3rd floor walkup with no available elevator - how do they get around handicap laws? Restaurant had an unfortunate plumbing problem and was closed for 2 days but plenty of other options nearby. Rates this time were much higher than normal for Toronto film festival

The location is amazing. We were going to a concert at the stadium and it was a 15 min walk. It's restaurant is also damn good - the brunch was the best thing we ate while in TO. We were also offered an upgrade and got a suite in the end. If you can afford it, definitely get it.

We originally got the smallest room, and as others have pointed out, it's really awkward. The bathroom is made of opaque glass - no walls divide the room from the bathroom- so you can see and hear what's going inside. Also the bed is at an odd angle. I think the smallest rooms are perfect for solo travelers, but not ideal for two people. I still think it's a great deal, so if you're budget conscious but want a great location -it's perfect.
