Colors Hotel Athens

We stayed at colours hotel for my husbands birthday. We loved this hotel.. The staff were so helpful and went over and beyond to help us. The room was gorgeous and spacious (we booked the penthouse). Everything had been thought through. The breakfast was nice. As for the location it was very central, the road looks a bit rundown but we were out walking at 11pm with a baby and felt safe. We were there 4 nights no problems at all. So many good places to eat nearby too. All within walking distance.

Initially the surrounding area but once I stayed the night I realised it's just a funky upcoming area.

147104 A fright then delight! THE FRIGHT. We arrived by taxi through the busy back streets of Athens. Toward the end of our ride, shops were shuttered up and graffiti was everywhere. We then saw about 10 riot police with helmets and shields walking single file along a street. “ we’ve arrived” said our driver. OMG we thought. THE DELIGHT. But we needn’t have worried. Although not the most upmarket part of this huge city, we later discovered that despite the appearance of graffiti, it’s more or less as safe as anywhere. There can be problems in most cities and the police were there more as a deterrent. THE HOTEL. Fully refurbished building inside and out. Pleasant reception. A tiny lift ( you’ll love the inside) took us to a ‘penthouse apartment’ on the 7th floor. I may be wrong but I always thought that there is only one penthouse in a unit block. Wrong, in this instance there are 3 next to each other. Ours (702) was immediately impressive on entry. A decent sized lounge area with desk, large flat screen tv, sofa and big balcony at the front, an equally large bedroom again with big tv ( Netflix, you tube etc) comfortable bed, plenty of storage space and another balcony at rear. Both balconies largely offer roof top views. In between the bedrooms there is a vanity area with two basins, a large spa bath, fully enclosed wc and a shower with lovely rain shower head. Excellent decor and lighting throughout. Really nice buffet breakfast. A couple of very good restaurants almost opposite the hotel. Out of 3 nights we visited the Tivoli restaurant (see photo) twice. Great staff ( see photo) and food. The hotel is a few hundred metres to the metro serving the Acropolis, flea market, Parliament House ( a must see for changing of the guard) and all other attractions. We had a great 3 night stay and we're sure you will too!

Only grumble is the tiny fridge where the max temp is just under warm. Apart from that everything was great!

A very nice and friendly hotel - everything in Athens is easy to reach by foot and it is very close to many busy places and attractions such as Lycabettus, Acropolis, Plaka etc. A metro station is about 5min away. We stayed in the penthouse suite which was very comfortable, had a nice design which made you feel at home, with coffee machine, a lot of different lamps, two desks, two TVs, comfy beds, two balconies in the 7th floor to look over the city and of course the great bathroom with the jacuzzi. On the whole the suite was also very cheap compared to a similar standard in Germany, where we come from. The breakfast buffet looked small at the first glimpse, but had a surprisingly large variety for the small hotel - also everything tasted nice and the staff was always welcoming and friendly. We can definitely recommend the hotel and especially the suite with the jacuzzi and the balconies.

Not the hotel‘s fault - but the building behind the hotel really doesn’t look nice. If this matters to you (didn’t to us) you should not book a room facing the backyard on the lower levels.

Wonderful little hotel. Nice comfortable rooms that are of a good size. Within walking distance of the main sights. Breakfast was nice and good to see them provide proper coffee choices too. Thoughtful touches like the welcome drink and free drink during 'Happy Hour'. What makes the hotel so special are the amazing staff, who really go the extra mile in customer service. The reception team deserve a special mention. They were happy to provide good advice on trips and where to visit or eat in the local area. They would always give a warm welcome on your return to the hotel and showed a genuine interest in the needs of the individual customer. I definitely recommend this hotel and would happily return on future visits to Athens.

this place is great! the breakfast was very good. We had to leave too early on another stay and they gave us a boxed breakfast to go. the rooms are nice, the bathrooms good. It was a convenient walk a few blocks to the metro station. I liked the decor and the fun extras like the cray lighting in the hallway and funky elevator - was small but there were two side by side. The staff was friendly and helpful on storing bags for us while we were out of room and sightseeing before check in time. The bed was comfy. Great shower large rainfall type.

trying to operate air conditioner was a bit tricky. I had to experiment to get it to work, would have been nice to have instructions on the wall near the air control panel.

the hotel is very comfortable we had a delux suite on the 7th floor and the view was amazing as we could see Likavittos, the room was very spacious and super clean, there is seating for breakfast outside which is great in good or bad weather and the breakfast is very varied and suite all ,the hotel is in a great position located just a short pleasurable walk to the city centre and has amazing little gems of restaurants to eat on your doorstep! the management and staff are so nice and helpful and genuinely happy working at Color’s hotel it felt like a family run hotel that welcomes you in and looks after you, I will return and make this my go to hotel !! thanks to all the staff again x

It’s modern and trendy. Staff were so nice and accommodating- they even helped with our getting a car service for our flight when we were leaving - they asked beforehand so they could plan it out. The room was dramatic, stylish and still comfortable.

It’s a little hard to get to from public transportation and everything turns off if you don’t have the key card in its slot holder which was more of a mild nuisance. Our biggest complaint was the AC - it never got super cold ! We would have it at its lowest setting (16•c) with the fan on and it still felt like it was at 21• or 22• so difficult us to fall and stay asleep when it was warm in the room

The breakfasts were good. I liked the easy access to the buffet and the service was quick and efficient! The staff, especially Angela, were exceptional. They were so helpful and friendly and always greeted one with a smile. When asked for advice, they were most informative. I loved that there was always a tasty lemonade waiting for you, when you returned to the hotel and that you were always offered a bottle of water to take with you when you left the hotel. That was very welcome in the extreme heat! The hotel was modern, with a great shower and conveniently situated to the Omonia metro.

All the staff were very friendly and attentive. You could ask anything at the reception and they will help you out. At breakfast the staff really made you feel welcome. The breakfast itself was also excellent and the coffee was great. We had the penthouse with the jacuzzi which was very nice and the bed was excellent too. Thumbs up to the cleaning staff, everything was very clean. We had no issues with the neighbourhood as well. Some deem it to be unsafe but we did not have that experience. It was al very welcoming for us and we literally only encountered friendly and good people. Some rundown buildings or graffiti does not mean there's anything wrong with the place. Would definetly come back.

The staff at this hotel are excellent and super friendly. There was a heatwave in Athens and we had purchased big bus tour tickets from them. When we went out it was unbearable to get on the bus and our toddler was being extremely fussy. We went back and asked the receptionist if we could refund the tickets and were told no straight away but the next morning The guy who had sold us the tickets was at the reception and he was really nice about it and refunded the tickets for us saying he has a baby too and he understands how it would have been impossible to do it. Really won our hearts. Other than that rooms are big and brand new and bathrooms too.
