Katane Palace Hotel

Even though, Katania was not my favourite place in Sicily, the hotel exceeded my expectations, the room was very spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. The hallways, patio etc were very nice. A big pro of this hotel is its breakfast, even though it was quite simple and lacked more hot dishes, it was very tasty with many good pastries and a big variety of fruit, a very nice addition was presence of many kinds of plant milk. There were just two kinds of coffee pods normal and decaf which were very tasty but having more kinds would be great.

Although the room and toilet were very nice, the bath felt like it needs to be replaced together with the plastic divider. Also the mini fridge needs to be replaced as it is old and doesn’t cool fast enough. Another small downside was the lack of furniture on the balcony.

The hotel is great in many aspects: location, size of the rooms, facilities, etc. We stayed here one year ago and liked it - that's why we were here again this year. I saw an improvement compared to previous year: the vegetables (which I was missing last year) appeared among the sortiment of breakfast - great job! Good place for stay in Catania. Stayed in July 2023.

We made initial booking for 3 nights but due to the national strike in Italy we had to shift our stay to few days later and reduce it to 2 nights (because we could not stay longer due to changes in our plans evoked by the strike). The good thing was that the Hotel allowed to use previous payment for 3 nights and not to pay for these 2 nights (even though the booking was non-refundable) but at the same time the Hotel could not reimburse the fee for the 3rd unused night (because the booking was non-refundable). In the rest, we were happy with the Hotel.

Air-con is amazing, and the room is also fairly large with big windows with lots of natural light. 24-hour reception is very helpful. Very comfortable rooms. The design is a bit dated but not tackyn, it is classically Italian and charming. You're staying in an Italian Palazzo after all.

The location is just outside of the centren, about 15-20 minute walk to the major dining areas of Catania and the cathedral, which seems like the true centre. There are some good restaurants, both high-end and casual, nearby. But not in abundance, so you should follow recommendations or do your research before. The place feels more like a business hotel with its large lobbies, courtyards, and meeting room, rather than a place convenient for your vacation. Would recommend staying closer to the centre. The area was also surprisingly very dirty.

The hotel is very comfortable and calm. There were large groups staying, and they were managed in an orderly way, without impacting our stay. The breakfast was varied and plentiful, seating was available indoors or in the courtyard. The staff were courteous and helpful. Parking on site was available for 15€ a day. Check out was at 12, so we were able to have a slow start before our afternoon flight.

The hotel is away from the Cathedral and piazza, but still walking distance. Walk in the direction of Villa Bellini, then down Via Etnea - it’s a nicer walk and less seedy.

The staff, every single one of them, were extremely friendly, helpful, professional and showed an interest in their guests and their well being. The environment of the hotel, with the inner courtyard, like an atrium, with greenery. Good and efficient air condition. Reasonably close to the Catania Centrale, Railway station. Generous checkout time, until 12. Reception is manned round the clock.

The decor of the room, that tries to look old fashioned. Bathtub with hand shower instead of shower cabin, and there is not adequate protection from splashing the floor.

Perfect little oasis to escape the craziness and heat of Catania. Staff were great in helping us organise a €100 transfer to Ortigia. Provided extra towels when we needed. Breakfast bwas yum. Air conditioning was needed in the room when it was 35 degrees Celsius outside. 12pm checkout meant we could have a relaxed morning. Great value for money! I read reviews about the place looking dated or cracks in the walls in their room, but from what we saw the hotel looked completely fine and we had no problems in our room ☺️

The location in the city center is very good. High ceilings and nice décor in common areas are making the impression of real palace. The room we got was quite large. Bed was spacious enough and comfy. We also had air conditioner with the possibility to control it. The staff, including personnel responsible for breakfast, is very nice. Breakfast choice was moderate but one will not go hungry after it. :-) There is very nice and cozy inner yard adjacent to the breakfast and reception area. Definitely recommend it for stay in Catania! Stayed in July 2022.

The breakfast is very limited in choice and there was no vegetables at all (nevertheless the quality of the breakfast is high). Hotel parking costs 10 EUR - we did not use it and were looking only for a free (or cheaper) public parking around the hotel - sometimes not easy!

Rooms are adequately-sized, clean and air-conditioned (although lacking a kettle amd ironing facilities). Free bottled water is provided in the room mini-bar. The en suite bathroom serves its purpose and is clean, albeit with limited storage space for your toiletries. The breakfast is good, and the restaurant also serves a tasty lunch and dinner, which one can enjoy in the nice hotel courtyard, al fresco. Staff are professional and helpful. On-site underground parking is on a first come first served basis, and is of the valet type (your car keys have to be left at the reception as presumably staff might need to move your car to allow another car out). We were lucky and always found on-site parking available, but places are quite limited.

The location, while reasonably close (15 min walk) to the city square, is in a somewhat dodgy-looking area. There are worse areas in Catania, however, and the city itself is somewhat dodgy to begin with, so that is not really the hotel's fault.

The location is very good and the rooms rather large. Ours had a large balcony on the road. The hotel common areas are very nice and comfortable! The porter took our luggages to the room.

The double bed was made up of 2 singles next to each other. This was uncomfortable. The pillows are very hard. We did not stay in the balcony since the one on top had spalling concrete. The first night the tv was not working... They changed it the day after. The bath was very narrow.
