Hotel Vecchia Milano

Yes, it's old, and small, and on a busy street, and as a last minute booking during a period when Milan's hotels were booked out for Design Week, it raised few expectations. But it's a gem: lovely staff - really lovely staff, especially the Receptionist and the elderly gent managing the breakfast room with tremendous precision - small rooms but with everything needed, spotless bathroom with excellent shower... I greatly enjoyed my stay because the Vecchia Milano has a good vibe, a gentle ambiance and atmosphere. It has a good location, close to bus, tram and metro links, and walking distance to the great sights of Milano like the Duomo, the Galleria, the Novocento and Palazzo Reale and the Triennale.

Go carefully when you step out on to the street - scooters come flying through and there's no sidewalk.

It was OK for the price paid. I went during a busy time of the year (Milan Fashion Week) and I assume prices were up because of that. But it was close enough to the city centre, the staff was friendly and helpful and the room very clean. WiFi worked like a dream and there was a lift (not to be taken for granted in old Italian buildings). Quiet street and there was a mini market (Pam) close by.

The hotel is clearly outdated, so I'm not sure I'd recommend it for long stays. Breakfast is close to the continental type (typical in Italy) but it was good enough and the coffee was very good, too! A few more sockets would have been nice to have (I only found one in my single room, but maybe I didn't look close enough). It wasn't the best stay, but it was certainly good value for money.

The location and service are great for the price you pay as you get a small room with every basic need covered. It's not fancy or modern, but a very cozy space if you plan on dropping your stuff down and leaving to explore. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating.

Some of the furniture was outdated and the bed wasn't as fresh to lay in and the toilet doors were just a sliding curtain. Breakfast was okay - personally, I'm not a fan of fruits and pastries for breakfast, felt a lack of warm dish options.

The location is excellent and justifies the price. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was thoroughly cleaned each day, the bed made and towels/linen spontaneously changed from time to time. The breakfast was good and available for a long period.

The room hadn't been updated for a while and looked a little 'tired'. The cupboard was not in the first flush of youth and there was a shelf missing in the bathroom. (I didn't need either.) So if you are looking for the lap of luxury, this may not be the place for you. But if you want a clean and comfortable room in a central location, with friendly staff and a good breakfast, at a reasonable price, this hotel is perfect.

Having read some reviews of this property my expectations were low. However I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The room was an older style room but it perfectly met our needs. It was clean and comfy and we had a good sized bathroom. It was in a very convenient location for exploring the city, within east reach of the cathedral and centre. The staff we met were all friendly and there was nice coffee and the morning with a good basic breakfast. I would stay here again based on my experience

The staff were very kind and helpful. Easy check in and access to one room before check in time. Good location with walking distans to everything in the center. Breakfast was better than expected with a buffet with eggs, yoghurt, fresh fruit, rolls and pastries etc. The opportunity to buy bottles of water at the hotel was apreciated.

Unfortunately the air con stopped working late one evening so the last night was not very pleasant. A shower with a handset would have been apreciated.

The Hotel is old but centrally located. The room was resonable and the bed comfortable. Nice crispy sheets and a huge bed. For the price it was great value. The staff were super helpful and the breakfast was plentiful. Based on our M.O. of so long as it's clean and comfortable because you just need somewhere to rest your head of an evening I couldn't fault this at all. It even has a lift which is an absolute bonus here in Italy. I would come back again.

For an economy hotel there was nothing not to like.

The single room had a good layout. There was space for my belongings. Brealfast was more substantial than I expected, Nearby there were restaurants and a supermarket. The staff were very helpful. You could buy bottles of water in the hotel
