Grand Hotel Aminta

We liked everything about the hotel. The location is great as you have an amazing view over Sorrento, Naples, Vesuvius, etc. Great sunset watch spot as well. Don't worry about the fact the hotel is not in central Sorrento - there is a free shuttle bus running every hour from 9 to 23:30. It only takes around 7 minutes to go to the city center. The shuttle stops near the main shopping street/restaurants area. In the mornings it also goes to the central bus and train station so perfect if you want to explore the Amalfi coast for the day. Please note that there is a public bus stop just outside of the hotel, but we were advised by reception that the bus is already full by the time it reaches the hotel so doesn't usually stop. It stopped for us the 1 time we tried it, but we were there beginning of May so not high season. The stuff are very nice and helpful - especially the lady at reception and everyone at breakfast. We stayed in the annex villa, which is just less than 5 min walk through the lemon garden. It was cheaper than the main hotel and I would definitely recommend that and don't be put off by the fact it says annex. It is a gorgeous place. Breakfast was amazing, lots of choice and fairly varied for a continental breakfast. The stuff don't miss a second when you need some more coffee. There is a jacuzzi area which looks very nice and the pool is heated so can be used even if it's not too hot. It is exceptionally clean as well.

Beautiful sea views across to Sorrento. Everything was clean and well maintained. The staff were excellent and very friendly. The food was very good. Area around the pool was nice and quiet. The room in the annex was pretty basic but comfortable. Shuttle into Sorrento was a bonus and only took 5 minutes. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Firstly the staff are all so friendly and helpful! From the ladies on reception, to the pool monitor and the restaurant staff. The room was a great size, bed was big and very comfy. Flat screen TV on the wall we could link to our Netflix. Pool was great for swimming, nice and deep throughout most of it and so very clean! Lots of sun-beds and umbrellas available. Hot tub was a great addition! Loved this on the late afternoon. Views over the bay were stunning. Food in the restaurant was delicious and portions were good. Free shuttle to and from the hotel to town was very easy to use. Free parking was available, but not under shade sadly.

We paid for half board, but would have expected water to be included with dinner which it wasn't, and drinks in the hotel were very expensive! The shuttle times back were 9:30pm or 11:30pm, we found one a little early after heading down into town after dinner and the other one a little late. 10:30pm would have been ideal.

Great communication from the start, especially when it came to organising a transfer from Naples. Really good location- close enough to the centre but far enough away so that you have a bit of quiet and isolation if you want it. Regular free shuttle bus throughout the day, or a short walk to centre. We stayed in one of the cheapest rooms but the view was still good from the sun window, and perfectly adequate. Air con was a lovely addition. Staff are all incredibly helpful, enthusiastic, professional and speak very good English. Food is pretty good - not amazing compared to the restaurants in town, but still amazing by UK standards! Great bar, swimming pool and loungers are also great for just staying around. Breakfast is especially good- amazing scrambled eggs! Immaculate cleanliness- maintained to a high standard. All in all- an amazing place to stay!

Nothing bad to say. Food is not as good as restaurants in town but this is to be expected.

The hotel room was very clean and comfortable- we got upgraded free of charge upon check in which was an unexpected perk! All of the staff are wonderful- very friendly and go the extra mile to help/advise/book where they can! The free shuttle bus into Sorrento is a real plus as the taxi fares are extortionate and charges seem to be made up by the driver (we had to get a couple of taxis and they ranged from €25 to €40 for the exact same route). The restaurant and bar food is great- after long days exploring Capri/Amalfi it was a god send to be able to book into the restaurant for dinner and still sample some amazing pasta! We thought the breakfast had a good variety and the pool wasn’t ever too busy so was peaceful to have a relax. Would definitely recommend and would book to stay again!

Hotel was in a good location and the shuttle bus to the town and back was really good. The pool was lovely and there were always spare sun beds which was great. We got a bus from the airport to Sorrento train station which only cost €10 PP and had nice scenic views on the way. Was a good alternative to getting a taxi and the taxis we did use were quite expensive and only took cash. Loads of great restaurants in Sorrento town centre and can do several day trips.

We stayed in the Annex and although the room was lovely, the shower was very small with only one large shower head - was hard to move around at all. Not sure if the showers in the main hotel rooms are nicer. Would also be nice to have a drinks service around the pool where you can order from your sun lounger rather than going to the bar, as they are happy to bring drinks to your sun loungers when you do order at the bar. Drinks are quite expensive but are very nice.

We had the most incredible stay at the Grand Hotel Aminta. Everything about this hotel is perfect. It's high up on the hill with the most incredible views of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Watching the sunset each night was just beautiful. The free shuttle every hour into the town (which takes about 5 minutes) was excellent and so convenient as it allowed us to easily get into Sorrento but stay somewhere quiet and out of the busyness of the town. The staff were so kind and helpful with everything and the facilities of the hotel were brilliant. We never struggled to get a sunbed by the pool and the hotel also provided a gym and spa. If you're thinking about whether to book here or not, definitely do it! The hotel is even more beautiful in person (we couldn't believe it) - the photos actually seem outdated online and don't capture how beautiful this hotel is. We had a fantastic stay and we will definitely be returning.

Thought the staff were absolutely great & were attentive to your needs. Our room had been upgraded which was a bonus and gave us amazing views of Capri from one window & Vesuvius from the other. Good choice of menu on a la carte & we used restaurant twice and food was very good and not too expensive. Hotel didn’t feel too busy although was probably nearly full.

Despite the shuttle bus driver doing his best, it was awkward sometimes getting the timings right to catch it. And getting across quite a busy road with blind corners both ways to catch it despite mirrors to help view was a challenge! Quite steep stairs up to front entrance of hotel with no handrail so I was glad I was able bodied.

Lovely hotel with friendly, professional team running it. We had asked for 2 rooms as near as possible and got what we asked for with a connecting door-lovely rooms in the annexe with balconies looking out over lemon groves and the sea, very comfortable and clean. The shuttle bus down to Sorrento is a good service if a little busy at times, driver was really helpful dropping us near the station one day for a trip to Pompeii. Beautiful views over the Bay of Naples from the bar and dining areas, great pool area.

Really small things-it would be great if the evening menu had some daily specials, and a 10.30pm shuttle bus back would be really helpful as both the 9.30 and 11.30 get very busy-but minor improvements.

We loved our stay at the Grand Aminta and were very happy with our room in the Villa Annexe overlooking a lemon grove. A sweet balcony with comfy wicker chairs which was perfect for relaxing in the late afternoon - it was also nice to have a kettle and coffee making facilities. The hotel is tastefully decorated with superb views of Sorrento and the Bay of Naples. Having their own minibus in and out of Sorrento is an added bonus. The staff were always happy to help. and were always smiling. We liked not having to set a time for our evening meal and being able to turn up as and when we were ready. The food was really good and my wife's dietary requirements (needing to be gluten free) were strictly adhered to and she has never been looked after so well.
