Hotel Metropole

Hotel was up a hill from the centre but not a problem for us. A bus available for less abler people. Plenty of choice for breakfast.

The Hotel was Situated in Beautiful place Little Walk To Town . The Staff were very very Friendly and Helpful especially Catello .Pool area and Terraces were Lovley .Only Thing is if you walk to Town There is No Footpath for first little Bit or there's Bus Stop Close By but I was OK with walk .

The Rooms are Dated need a Refurb quite old no fridge in Room had to buy Milk as they reluctant to give me any the Weather was very warm so obvisouy Milk didn't last had to throw away I had Travel kettle with me to make Tea .Only BBC News on Telly not that you realy need Telly.

we had a junior suite with balcony. The extra room with bed was excellent to put our suitcases and clothes. The view was awesome with Mt Vesuvius was so cool. Breakfasts were ok for a buffet. Did not have dinner there.

While not the hotels fault... the price of taxis was the worst of the four cities we visited in Italy!!

We had great customer service at the Metropole and everything we needed, most of all the possibility to park (for a reasonable fee) in front of the hotel, a lovely swimming pool and a nice breakfast. The hotel looks like it has been renovated recently, in most parts, and was very clean. Lovely blue interiors that make it very nice, but we loved most of all the pool and solarium as it was very hot on our last day. The hotel is just outside the centre of Sorrento and you can walk there if you don’t mind doing just 100 meters without sidewalk. Then the sidewalk starts and it’s fine, but initially it was a bit scary to walk to the center (then you get used to it, like the locals do). One very good point is that you either have the possibility to dine at the restaurant in the hotel, or also in the one next to it, Verdemare, which is excellent and very reasonably priced. This is a hotel that we would probably come back to again, as many of the other guests we met who have been coming back for many years.

We did not like only the mosquitoes, we noticed right away that the windows could not be left open, but since there is air conditioning we just closed the windows and it was fine. Maybe some mosquito protections in front of the windows could be useful but this is a minor thing.

staff were very friendly and helpful. location wasn’t too far from the town. we were also able to extend our stay last minute. the whole hotel was clean and tidy.

a shuttle into/out of town would have been useful, the road was a bit dangerous (no pavement for some of it). the beds and pillows weren’t the most comfortable.

I loved the hotel and the staff, location is good and rooms are spacious. Breakfast is also nice.

I consumed the items on the table and minibar without any idea that I will be charged for it. At the time of checkout I had to pay more bucks again. There must be a note of all the charges for minibar items and snacks on the table and it must be noticeable enough to the customer. I admit that I should have clarified this before consuming the items.

The hotel setting and swimming pool area are vey nice. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Special thanks to Luigi for the pizza place recommendation and to the person in reception for helping booking the Mount Vesuvius ticket. Good continental breakfast selection. The cooked breakfast was available on request and cooked fresh. I believe this was because I went in the low season and there was no need to have a selection available to potentially go to waste.

The below does not intend to be negative but points to be aware of: 1. The rooms are spacious but deco needs updating. It depends how important deco is to you and if it impacts your comfort. 2. The hotel is a 20 min walk to town centre plus a 5-10 min walk to train station. It is a nice walk as there are several view points of the coast along the way, but I do not recommend walking to hotel with luggage. There is a small section of the road without walkway as you approach the hotel. 3. The hotel website shows a bus service. This is public service, easy to use once you managed to identify the bus stops, particularly the one close to train station.

A decent pool and restaurant, also a 24/7 bar. All areas are open and not too crowded. Good place to relax during vacation.

Location is in the middle of the hill. You either walk for 30 minutes or take a bus right outside the hotel to get downhill to the center. Unfortunately they do not offer any shuttles while the buses operate not too often. The shower is tiny although it has totally enough space in the bathroom. The door and light were not working during our stay. You need to use a key to open or lock the door. There is no installed click on it. A bit annoying if you forget the key with you.

The staff was extremely helpful, loved the view from room's balcony, location was good, very clean and modern decor (not my preference as I like old-fashioned decor)

This has little to do with the hotel itself, but the walk into the city was difficult, as much of the road that leads to downtown has no sidewalks or walking space and the traffic moves quite fast. The buses into the downtown are were VERY erratic and could not be depended on.

Very kind helpful staff who helped us carry our luggage up some stairs in the rain 👏 any information we wanted reception was there to answer. Everywhere was very clean, we had a nice size room & could see the gulf of Napoli. Good choice for breakfast.

The weather 🌧☔️ but not their fault. Otherwise, I do not have a negative comment
