Hotel Del Mare

Free breakfast was good without heavy food. Scrambled eggs and bacon and some regular buffet breakfast foods. Staff was excellent. Good overall. Close to beach and several good restaurants. Far walk from a laundromat uphill to it and pricey at 10e a load to wash & dry. Taxis are pretty expensive around there even for short rides.

Shower was tight and rooms a bit small with not much of a view unless you’re on the 4th floor. The Veranda on top floor is great and should be utilized more for drinks or something to encourage customers up there.

The location is very good. The staff is very helpful, and they have a place to store your personal belongings in case you need it (before check-in or after check-out).

The room is very small, but okay for a couple of days.

Nice and quiet with a great location in the Marina Grande, away from the hustle and bustle of central Sorrento. Nice sun terrace on the roof with beautiful views over the harbour and Naples bay. Breakfast was excellent as well. Loads of choice from a cooked breakfast to cereals, cold meats and cheese, pastries, yoghurts, fruit and tea, coffee, juice etc. Perfect to set you up for the day. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Not enough storage in the room. Just a rail with 6 coat hangers and one small shelf for two of us all week with no cupboards or wardrobe. I lived out of my suitcase all week. Not a major drama but a few more shelves would have been nice.

The hotel is maintained impeccably. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful in arranging tours for us to the Amalfi Coast and Capri. We enjoyed the breakfasts, especially the cappuccino. We were given a street side balcony room and we loved sitting out on it and watching all the local activity - the ladies across the street hanging out their laundry to dry, the school bus dropping off kids, etc. And lastly we really enjoyed staying in Marina Grande where the hotel is located. Charming and quaint area. We ate dinner at one of the restaurants there every night during our 5 night stay. And it was only a 10 minute walk to Sorrento town.

Wonderful, helpful and friendly staff. Breakfasts were very good, the housekeeping exceptional. Loved being in a quiet sector of Sorrento, but just around the corner from breathtaking views, friendly and good seafood restaurants.

Although the room was very small, it had everything one needed. Only complaint: the bed was extremely firm and not the greatest for my back. Nearby restaurants all specialise in seafood (though Taverna Azzura has a few meat choices including an exceptional steak) so it was a good walk to have more varied restaurant choices nearby.

The close distance to the beach and city center was great. There is also a bus stop nearby that takes you to the main station. Quiet street in the night. Rooftop terrace with sea view. Room was clean and breakfast fulfilled our needs. Bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff were really nice and helped us with guidance for our trips (ferry, train and bus schedules). When we visit Sorrento next time, we would not mind staying at this hotel again.

The soundproofing wasn't that great to the other rooms and corridor, so that disturbed a little bit in the nights and mornings when you wanted to sleep and people were arriving/going. Airconditioning wasn't on while you were not in the room, so you had to start cooling the room down every time you came back. The shower and toilet space was quite small, so being above average size would be a challenge.

The roof top area had an excellent view and the hotel makes aperitifs to enjoy there.The iincluded breakfast is great. Public transport to and from the hotel is very close and convenient. It is better to figure out how to use it as dragging your bags to the hotel is challenging. The staff are friendly and helpful and their English is very good. We were given an upgraded room to one with a balcony, which was used and appreciated.

The hotel shower is very small and one needs to be a bit of a contortionist to successfully use it. Not the hotel's fault, but there were a number of inconsiderate guests making a lot of noise into the small hours.

The location of the hotel in marina grande cannot be beaten. We loved the area and enjoyed all the amazing restaurants right on our doorstep. The breakfast in the hotel every morning was superb, something for everyone. We initially booked a standard room but found it a bit small for a couple for a week. We asked to change to a bigger room and it was no problem at all. The balcony rooms are perfect for a couple. We booked the amalfi excursion at the front desk and we really enjoyed it. Pick up was outside our hotel and dropped back that evening. Staff are very friendly and Hotel del Mare felt like home away from home for our stay in sorrento. We'll definitely be back: )

The staff was very friendly and helpful at all times from the front desk to the dining room. The lobby is very inviting! Breakfast was included and incredibly delicious and complete tasty selection!! Also the breakfast room is on the bottom floor in a room that is cut out of the Mountain which is amazing feeling to enjoy breakfast in! Beautifully decorated! The location is just a one minute walk to the beach and restaurants. There is a lovely roof deck that we unfortunately did not have much time to use because we're spending so much time all over Sorrento!

The shower was a bit small and there should also be some luggage holders.

The staff were PHENOMENAL, some of the nicest people we've met in Italy. Jessica from reception was an absolute sweetheart and went out of her way to make sure we had a great stay, from giving us a beautiful room for our honeymoon to making us dinner reservations at Il Buco restaurant (which was a night to remember). The breakfast cave was a nice little surprise, so was the rooftop view. Easy parking 100 steps away for 20Euros.

Amazing location but of course the hotel is not new in any way. It is well-kept and clean, but do not expect anything too fancy.
