Hotel Italie et Suisse

Small independent hotel, staff were incredibly friendly and always personally greeted me as I came and went. The young woman who waitresses at breakfast was particularly impressive, knowing what language each of her guests spoke, how they took their coffee and switching effortlessly between Italian, English, French and German as she moved between tables. The location is great, right by the ferry port, town and with amazing views of the lake. I had a room with a lake view which was worth paying more for as I enjoyed sitting on the balcony admiring the view. The breakfast spread was good, with a lot of choice considering it was a small establishment. I particularly enjoyed the cake, which changed daily.

Nothing. Although for other travellers to note, the location means there is noise from the bars below, particularly when there was live music. That wasn’t a problem for me, I liked hearing the sounds of the town, I enjoyed the free concert and it didn’t go on late, but worth being aware of if you are travelling with young children or like things quieter.

Great location, across the street from the ferry terminal to the islands. We had 3 balconies off our room all having amazing views. Close to shopping and restaurants. Our breakfast was included and was very good. The owners were very accommodating and allowed us to store our luggage and looked after getting us a taxi. Great value !!

well, the beds could be more comfortable, the sheets didn’t seem to fit so in the morning look like you had a wrestling match!! lol. and the towels!! good lord they will take a layer of skin off. A fabric softener would be nice.

Staff is extremely nice, courteous and helpful. The location is superb, close to the center. And it was great to have nearby, inexpensive parking for our car.

A minor thing: would have been nice to have a toaster in the breakfast room so that guests could toast their bread at breakfast.

It is quite noisy, the street noise is very loud and between rooms, so you will need earplugs. But the noise doesn’t go late at night and the location really cancels out that as a negative

The location is brilliant. So close to the boat and ferry terminals. We had a lake view and it was so pleasant to wake up to that view. Also close to great restaurants and shops. Breakfast is included...and they cater well for this. All in all we would choose this hotel again

Right next to the piazza and the main street,.. so if you are a light sleeper you may have to consider this.

The location was excellent , just across from the ferry terminal. The room was a large double and was fine. The staff were very friendly . Facilities are limited.

This is a very nice hotel just in front of the lake. Wonderful position to visit Stresa and the surrounding (islands, Villa Pallavicino, etc). Very clean and with very nice staff ready to help you.
