Hotel Regina Palace

The location is fantastic. A few minutes from the main part of town and right across the street from the Lake. Breakfast was also great. The pools and sauna were nice. The flowers around the grounds were beautiful.

The staff was friendly but not overly helpful. My daughter and I got stuck in an elevator. I called the hotel and they said they would send someone to fix it. About 5 minutes later it started to run again but it was very scary and a very long 5 minutes. We also had a repair man in our room when we got back from the pool. He said someone called for him. When I said no he left. He obviously had keys but I was not sure what he was doing in there.

Dramatically elegent old style hotel, with beautiful frontage and gardens in an ideal location in Stresa. There are fabulous lake and sunset views from the front balconied elevation. The breakfasts and the dining location are superb. There is an excellent spa with indoor pool and saunas and treatment facilities. Hugely spacious and free underground parking is available for guests below the beautiful rear gardens and outdoor pool.

The room service for any food at all, stops at 11pm, and as we arrived at 11pm, this was inconvenient. However, in a hurry a gift of a nuts and crisps bowl was helpfully provided.

We wanted to treat ourselves to a nice experience in Stresa and the Regina Palace Hotel delivered 110%. With it slightly over the top (but still cheerful) decoration, its generous breakfast selection, and its excellent outdoorpool and gardens, we had a ball. The staff were always happy to help.

The walls were rather thin, such that we could hear a loud conversation in the next room. We only went once to the bar on a busy evening, but the one bar tender, although working furiously hard, was struggling to keep up with the demand.

We thought we had booked a lake view room with balcony which had been detailed originally on the small writing under the room but I didn't check it until we were just about to leave and it never mentioned it. We tried to see if we could pay extra to upgrade as it was for a special occasion and something we'd been looking forward to. The reception staff didn't seem to want to help, one person said they had a balcony room then they didn't, someone else said they did but in the end didn't! Very stressful after a day's travelling. I appreciate it was not their problem but they were all quite rude and gave the impression they did not care, not a good start to the holiday but fortunately the rest of the staff were excellent and really polite.

The Regina Palace is a must stay, it’s opulence at its best, absolutely beautiful and you feel like Royalty as soon as you walk through the doors, it’s definitely a WoW from us.

The only fault is the room we stayed in was quite small and the bathroom the same.. we had been travelling around Europe and found it difficult to find space even for 2 x mid sized suitcases. Other than that fabulous, our room had a balcony so this compensated for space and a place to sit comfortably.

Loved the hotel itself, the outside area especially, the pool and surrounding areas are beautiful. On the whole the staff were friendly except for one young girl on reception who wasnt very helpful and yet the young man on reception was extremely helpful. Room was spacious.

The bathroom just needed a soap dish as they had supplied soap to wash your hands but no where to put it, except just on the vanity bench? Maybe hand wash is better these days anyway. Would prefer tea/coffee facilities in the room.

The room was very nice and clean and the water bowl in the bathroom for our dog was a really wonderful touch. The breakfast was very nice with a selection of sweet and savoury breakfast foods and coffee/tea served fresh directly tot he table. Great views from the breakast room.

The queues at check-in and check-out were incredibly long and it took abetween 30-45 minutes to get to the counter. A good thing we weren't in a hurry. The staff were really friendly though and everything went smootly once we got to the reception desk.

Location is excellent and convenient for the local attractions and waterfront. The main areas of the hotel are grand and pleasant to use.

The size of room being too small and lacking facilities including an additional charge for use of the room mini-bar fridge (not the contents obviously). The rooms let down the grandeur of outside and public areas,

The hotel is very much elegant old style. Beautifully presented , stylish with many facilities such as great outdoor pool and gardens (tennis court that we did not use) and great spa. Two weddings whilst we were there.

Main complaint - which unfortunately the management seem to be aware of but have not addressed is the proliferation of pigeons on the beautiful terrace (particularly at breakfast) who destroy the tranquillity & enjoyment looking over the garden and Lake. One other tiny comment is limited to ones agility. Wife found both loo and bidet too low.

The location is great, right across the street from the lake and a five minute walk to the main boat terminal and the center of town. If you need to take a train it is only about a 10 minute walk to the train station. The breakfast is great, with a lot of choices. The pool and spa areas/indoor pool are very clean and nice. The grounds are beautiful.

The room was very small and a bit cramped. The air conditioner didn’t get very cold so the room was a bit stuffy at times. There were very few drawers in the room to unpack clothes (and the drawers that are there are quite small). The price was a bit high for what you get in terms of the room.
