Astoria Hotel Italia

A big centrally located four star hotel with car park was just what we wanted for our stay in Udine and the Astoria was ideal. Old world charm, friendly staff. There was even a porter who directed us to the car park from the entrance in the car and then brought all our luggage to the room. When you are driving in Italian cities parking is nearly always stressful and this was so helpful.

There didn’t seem to be a bar which was odd and we didn’t find the breakfast room very appealing with a large tour group ensconced and having greatly depleted the buffet. Not a problem as we found a wonderful cafe nearby which had the most amazing pastries and brilliant coffee. When booking, don’t take the breakfast option.

a lovely (and attractive) receptionist not only gave me the top floor room I asked for but also upgraded me without question. So I had a double room uso singolo. She recommended a very nice risto just a short walk from hotel, which looked ace and was completely packed. No shortage of alternatives..amongst others one of the best stocked shops for grappa and amaro.

I could've lived in that hotel ;)

A central location gives easy access on foot to everything in the oldest part of town; the car can be put in their nearby garage. A slightly faded but grand older hotel - and by chance we had a bedroom, bathroom and sitting room, with a breeze over the yard behind! A delightful and welcoming town, well away from any regular tourist circuits, unless to cross the Alps or as a detour towards Trieste. And since dinner was not available at the hotel that evening, a special thank you to the receptionist whose friend owns a Michelin starred restaurant nearby!

We were later in to breakfast than most who were staying, and there was little interest being shown in seeing that anything was topped up and still available on the buffet, or to respond to guests.

I can't highlight any specific area, everything was good as was

On the first night a big group of hotel guests were extraordinarily loud through many hours...it was definitely NOT the fault of hotel but may be in some similar extreme situation a polite request from hotel staff to stop it in the interest of other guests could have been useful ?!....naturally I do not know whether it happened or not...

Located just in the heart of the old city with lots of restaurants and bars around. Super friendly staff, great front desk and porteria. Parking garage was easy (even with a somewhat larger car), which is rare in Italy. Interior is dated but a mirror of its history. We had a Junior Suite, with all amenities and very comfortable beds. Definitely a full recommendation.

Large rooms and comfy beds. Parking was underground in the garage, very secure. Note, there are two garages, a small one of about 6 spaces and another with about 12

Room slightly melled of sewage, likely to be the wind blowing smells through the system. Really noticed it when walking into the room. Hopefully just a one off. Got use to the smell when in the room. Tried to call reception but phone didn't connect, I wasn't bothered enough to go down stairs to say so.

Great location, very central in Udine. Very clean and very attentive staff.

Decor dated but it didn't bother me. Some noise from the market setting up in the morning on the front piazza — one can avoid by requesting a room at the back.

All ok. The hotel may need a little refreshment but it is clean so not a pressing need. Breakfast was relatively modest

Lovely and careful staff; charming, "old-school" hotel. Cleanliness and location are excellent. Nice to have a kettle, tea bags and instant coffee in the room. Powerful hairdryer; fluffy bathrobe.

The view from my windows (backyard). No written information in the room on breakfast time or on how to make calls (i.e. if you dial 0, you won't reach the reception). Furthermore, the Sky remote control user guide in the room isn't very helpful... i managed only once by chance to switch on the TV, even though I carefully followed the instructions :-/

Excellent staff, good breakfast, super clean rooms. Good wifi, and a great location right downtown. Parking nearby.

There was noise in the square one night, out of the hotel's control but loud. They changed my room and all was fine.
