Super clean hotel, good breakfast included, friendly staff. Nice big room, big bathroom and large bed. Large terrace with good size table and chairs. Beds have crispy clean sheets and the room is properly cleaned daily. Beautiful interior and materials used. Very relaxing atmosphere. I have to add that upon arrival, we upgraded our room from a standard queen room to a double room with balcony as we liked this better (bigger room, more privacy, bigger bed and terrace - everything else was the same). 2 minutes walk to the lagoon and 5-10 minutes to the central square. Quiet location.

Very very welcome and friendly!!! The Owner and the whole Team are super friendly. They made us a vegan breakfast every morning and during the day there is an lovely coffeeshop with very good coffee! The Hotel and the room are very clean, no dirt, no animals (no moscito!) and every day cleaned! Its very close to the water, where you can rent a boad. And if you are very lucky, you see maybe the neighbors monkey ;) And of course the gorgeous Cat Pepe!

The only Point, that there are a lot of birds singing loudly in the Morning. But we like it 😊

The hotel is very close to the city center and to the street where all there are several access points to the beach. The room was big and clean and the staff was super nice and helpful. I recommend you try their breakfast which is super good and included in the stay. Highly recommended if you have a car. If you travel with ADO keep in mind that the ADO station is 20 minutes waking from the hotel so it might be challenging with bags, better to get a taxi to the station.

Pretty little hotel. Very very clean. Sheets a but rough but remade in the daily cleaning. Even fresh towels daily. Amazing breezes from the second floor balcony rooms. Full breakfasts with tasty food. Staff were all gracious and very friendly. A block down the hill to the lake, with docks and public swimming. Hotel booked our day on the lake on a pontoon. Once in a lifetime turquoise water. Stopped 3 times to swim. Hotel is a few blocks walk to the central plaza. A surprising value. We will be back.

Good location (20 min walk from ADO) The staff were very nice and helpful Lovely breakfast included in the price Big room with good air conditioning Everything was very clean Keep in mind that the door to the patio in the room is not sound proof so you may get some noise from the street, I brought some ear plugs with me and slept like a baby. Some of the staff do not speak very good English, just remember a smile and a gracias here and there help a lot :)

I loved that we had breakfast included and that we were a block away from lagoon. I highly recommend this family owned hotel - you can tell the owner has invested her time and love to her city to the hotel.

The internet wasn't as good as I expected but since I was out all day it didn't matter. If you are traveling for work, I recommend you sit outside where the connection is better.

Hotel Maria Maria was an excellent place to stay in Bacalar. Compared to other higher or similar rated places it was less expensive, but offered similar levels of comfort. The breakfast was good and sufficient for a morning full of activities. The hotel helped us by arranging a boat tour and the waiter from the coffee shop brought us to the meeting point with his own car. That was something really appreciated. The hotel had a parking in front of the building.

The walls and door weren't soundproof. You could hear everything happening in the shared areas of the hotel. Maybe if your room isn't the first one in the hallway this would be less of an issue. We recommend changing the lightbulbs for some new bulbs that have less of a hospital feeling.

At the arrival we have been greeted by Pepe, the lovely cat living at the hotel - such a cutie! The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The language was sometimes a barrier but nothing we couldn’t overcome with Google translate ;) We have been helped with all our requests, especially the laundry service. Parking spot at the entrance was always available. Location is also perfect since it’s a short walking distance from the center and lagoon.

Breakfast is a bit limited: eggs, toasted bread, fruits with yogurt and granola. Juice, tea and coffee.

The location was great, nice and quiet but close to the centre. The reception staff was very nice and friendly. The rooms were clean and the bed very comfortable. We loved having the little balcony to enjoy the view. There was free bottled water available for all guests which was great.

Having breakfast was a challenge as non of the staff spoke English and there wasn’t much choice (or we just didn’t understand).

We went on our honeymoon and the staff were so kind and upgraded us to a superior room! The hotel is located on a really convenient location just a couple blocks away from the lagoon and the centre of town. The breakfast also is great value for money and you have the option of a traditional or continental breakfast.

The rooms themselves are comfortable but nothing spectacular, though I think this is the case for Bacalar generally as it hasn't had the level of hotel development of say a Tulum - which is in itself part of the charm! We loved Bacalar as it felt authentic unlike the rest of the Yucatan which felt like a part of the USA.
