The Reef Playacar Resort & Spa-Optional All Inclusive

The hotel is beautiful, It looked very different of what I expected but in a good way. We didn't get the all inclusive because we had tours on the days we stayed. The place were Is located is very nice, is a private location and has a lot of things inside you can walk and find a few restaurants, Starbucks, some mini market The beach was beautiful too, the restaurant had a view!

Few parking lot I don't like, but I think Is something common in all those hotels, that they always want to sell something, so for me was like I don't know if you are speaking to me because you're nice and kind or are about to sell something. The villas doesn't have elevator so take that in mind if you prefer a first floor suite.

I can say only positive things about this hotel. Everybody who works here is very friendly, always smiling and helpful. The room was clean, with plenty of space and with a beautiful balcony where you could take a break and enjoy the beautiful greenery outside of your room. Because the exterior of this hotel is exceptional. It's like a small jungle which makes the route to the breakfast, pools and beach an ultimate experience. The beach and pools area are also very nice with plenty of space to chill. But if you don't want to chill during your holidays, they have an amazing entertainment team. The guys make something fun almost every hour of the day so you can spend your vacay quite active. I personally really enjoyed the stretching/yoga class in the morning with Sabrina and the aqua aerobic in the pool at noon. We also loved the big variety of the breakfast buffet. The hotel itself has a lovely clean beach. The busy downtown is approximately 15 minutes by foot from the hotel.

We had only one problem with our room. There was a small window which was broken (we couldn't close it properly). We reported this issue at the reception and they tried to fix it but it wasn't fixed properly. The window remained open so we still could hear the outside noise, especially at night. But this small problem was really nothing in comparison wit all the good things this hotel has to offer.

The resort is stunning. From the moment walked in, and were given a glass of champers to the stunning beaches and excellent choice of food. The entertainment was a highlight with a wide variety local entertainment in the evenings. Definitely recommend.

Watch out for the sales pitch to buy a holiday membership that costs 10k USD. No joke, we jad been signed up to the pitch with in 15 minutes of checking in to the hotel. We were swayed by a free massage and discount on tours... the massage was nice but god damn we had to sit through a presentation for "90" minutes.. took half our day up and when we said no they were quite pushy.

rooms need updating. Lounge Chairs by the pool and on the beach are taken over by the local residents everyday but worse on the weekends. husband and I went 2 days of not getting a lounge chair. also if you get up to get food or go to the bathroom they take your chair and throw your towels to the side. also kids at the swim up bar was not cool. they need their own pool. Lots of seaweed on the beaches

I like the location and hotel design.

They are still in 2020 . You need to wear face mask in open spaces as the pool bar or restaurant . That doesn't make any sense.

loved everything about the resort. nice beach view! rooms and balcony love!

the staff was so rude in how they delivered there message. specially in the restraints by the pool seemed annoyed frustrated or mad. just for that I’d never stay here again. we come to have a good time, eat , drink and be treated exceptionally good since we are on vacation.

Has been my 5th stay at The Reef now since 2017. I find it increasingly annoying, that people block the beach loungers at 7AM with a towel, book or other personal items and do not show up until Noon or later, while other people have to use the beach without umbrellas in the meantime. I would suggest to have an employee taking care about this situation.

A very loud baby was moved in next door so the hotel happy upgraded our room. The beautiful green space in the center of the property was fantastic underused by other guests so it was always nice and quiet and pretty empty. They only had one table and a few chairs but it was usually empty (good for us). I loved that i could eat most of our meals outside on the deck (I have covid anxiety). The on property restaurants were fantastic. Food was always fantastic. SO many delicious healthy options. Its crazy how much a resort like that would cost where I live.

cheaper pick up from airport would be nice. You can't help the seaweed issue but Reef did a better job than all surrounding hotels to clean it up. Beach was closed way to often! Sometimes i could not even figure out why. Can't treat everyone like they are an a stupid 80 yr old man. Could us us take kayak longer than 30min (unless others are waiting)

Rooms were very very clean and spacious, bathroom is also good size. Staff is great, very polite and helpful, specially Emiliano at the Mexican restaurant!! Chris and Ovidiu are the best keeping everyone entertained at the swimming pool.

The way plastic cups are washed at the bars is not very hygienic in my opinion, cups are just emerged in the sink with water and soap, rinsed and that’s it. I also didn’t like when they sent me and my friends to their other hotel nearby saying it was just for us to try their breakfast and when we got there, it was a sales presentation to sell you some holidays club membership.

- location - staff, especially Antonio and Paulino from the restaurant - very helpful - premises and garden, sea view

- mixing vegetarian food with non-vegetarian - easy to make mistake, but that was a minor issue - internet breaking some days
