Hotel Raices de Mar

The location of this hotel, on the Plaza Machado, is the centre of culture, entertainment and exceptional dining options in Mazatlan. Everything we wanted to do and see was within walking distance. At night, the Plaza Machado became an entertainment mecca with exceptional variety of live music all around the plaza. If you like live entertainment, dancing, dining, partying, this hotel is for you. The hotel staff were very kind and helpful. A special thank you to Javier who looked after us very well at breakfast.

It was a challenge to get a good night sleep. The live music lasted until about 11pm. That was fine, but the people did not stop just because the music ended. Parties came into the hotel once the music ended and continued to party until the late hours. If you are an early to bed type or a light sleeper, this hotel may be too noisy for you.

Although the breakfast that came with the room was limited, the fresh OJ and fruit were a real winner. If you wanted to order something off the real menu, there were excellent choices to be had as well. The location is central to the whole vibe and feel of the square, yes it is loud at night (they provide air plugs) but this is the sounds and sights of being in Centro. Right next to the opera and ballet, buskers on every corner and restaurants abound. The restaurant at the hotel had one of the best steaks Ive had in a long time. The pool, while very small is an excellent cold plunge from the daily activities.

I wish the Hotel did not have the best artwork I have ever seen collected in a Hotel! It made me yearn for more of the eclectic collection. I wish the staff were not as friendly and outgoing, as It made it really hard to leave.

Beautiful inside. indoor and outdoor courtyard restaurants. Central historic Mazatlan is the place to be and this is the center of Centro! Good air conditioning, wonderful staff!

Noisy, especially on weekends. they provide earplugs, and I have my own white noise maker, so not too bad for me. Lots of steps to many of the rooms. There is a beautiful water feature but it is hardly a “pool”!

Really appreciated the aesthetic and decor of the hotel, which is located right on Machado Plaza. The plaza itself is a lively place with restaurants, music and shopping stalls coming to life in the evening. Also really appreciated how helpful the staff were (they met me more than halfway in understanding what I was asking for in my broken Spanish). Just as importantly, they were able to provide refills of water in my reusable bottle, which helped me reduce my use of single use plastic bottles. Mateo, the hotel cat, was a cute bonus. I highly encourage guests to take morning walks out to the coastline and find the coconut stalls along the way - some of the best coconut water I've had. Some notes: the rooms are decent sized but not spacious. I would say that a two bed room for four people would feel cramped. Also, if you're very sensitive to noise, you might not want to stay this close to the Plaza, as there's celebrations going on every night. I'm a deeper sleeper so I didn't mind it.

The internet is a little shaky and will keep going in and out. That being said, unless you're staying at this hotel and trying to get important work done, it's not a deal breaker. The wifi works great in the central Cafe area.

Location was fabulous. We had a room at back of hotel and so we didn't find the noise from the plaza too bad even on a Friday night. The hotel even provides ear plugs Breakfast was great. Choice of coffee or juice. A bowl of fresh fruit. And a choice of three options for the main part of breakfast. Beds were comfortable.

The price quoted by Booking.com at the time of reserving was not the price charged by the hotel. Beware of any options of "payment due at hotel". Recommend paying through Booking.com site or being prepared to pay more on location.

The term boutique could have started because of a visit to Raices De Mar (roots of the sea). It is so unique with original art throughout the hotel that seems born of the structure that holds the building together. Combine that with a restaurant which truly brings you food taken from the region and adapted creatively to fit the vibrant scene of the old city of Mazatlan. The rooms provide all that you need. They are clean, artistic and well cared for, this is not a Hilton or a Holiday inn it is truly Mexico so if there's something extra you need all you have to do is ask. Stepping outside the front doors of the hotel, you will find the Machado, the celebration square of the Old City and a vibrant melting pot of artists, performers, families and couples with something to celebrate. As you venture further out, you will find the best that Mexico and Mazatlan have to offer with restaurants, art galleries, gift shops and always a performance to behold. I came for 4 days and extended for another four and maybe even more... Enjoy

Lovely boutique hotel, an eclectic delight, right on the Plaza Machado and a few blocks from the Olas Altas beach. Friendly accommodating staff. Very good breakfast. Great for discovering Centro Histórico. One minor comment, our room could have had a small dresser to put a clothing and personal belongings away. Other than that, we had a great stay at Raíces de Mar. ❤️

The weekends are a little loud from the musicians at the Plaza restaurants, but the place was alive and the performers were excellent. 👌So we stayed around tp enjoy it. And they finish a little after midnight. 😊

This is such a unique and charming boutique hotel. I loved all of the art that is included in the courtyard and public spaces. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The location can't be beat, right off Plaza Machado and walking distance to the market, cathedral, and beach. There is a great restaurant on site for authentic food, as well as an art gallery attached. I wish we could've stayed longer! Such a charming, warm and friendly place.

Just needed a couple of kid friendly items on the restaurant menu. Other than that, everything was GREAT!

First kudos to particularly Armando and the rest of the staff. One cannot drive the front of the hotel because it is on a lovely car-free tree lined plaza. Armando met my taxi at the corner and carried my luggage the half block to the hotel - and the same on the return including waiting for the taxi to come. The hotel is lovely - with interesting sculpture, paintings and a lovely gift show and both indoor and outdoor restaurant. The food was superb and good value especially if you are coming from a US big city - service not quick at dinner but I wasn't in a "quick" mood. I enjoyed watching the world go by. My room - upstairs and in the back was comfortable and quiet. The neighborhood is interesting to walk around. I will definitely return to this hotel as Mazatlan is a convenient jumping off location to get to my house in Sonora.

Quite frankly I have no complaints at all.

Central location, comfortable bed, hot water, air conditioner, roof top patio,The hotel is very clean TV has different apps like Netflix, Prime, etc. Staff is helpful and friendly.

Room was spacious but could have another suitcase table, may be kettle. Included breakfast has a limited menu for long stays. If you are looking for a quiet stay at night, it is not for your, lot of music on the plaza.
