It is an oasis tucked away in the busy streets of Merida. Once you go through the door, everything changes and becomes serene and beautiful. It is a very well done place with great staff. The owner is very attentive. The room we stayed in was very spacious and very comfortable. Location is excellent. If you are looking to stay in Merida for a few days, this place is perfect. I will recommend this place to friends.

Do not hesitate to book the private casita next door! It has fewer photos, but is the absolute best of both worlds. We had 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, PLUS a living room, gorgeous tiled kitchen, 2 patios & A POOL. PLUS daily breakfast & housekeeping! What could be better??? All the rooms have high ceilings, gorgeous tiled floors, fans & AC. The B&B provides insect repellant, filtered water, an honor bar, lending library & games. We stayed 3 weeks. My mom, who can’t walk far or climb stairs, had the ground floor, which included the common areas & a small bedroom & bath. I had a HUGE suite accessible by an outdoor spiral staircase (see photo). I was working on a book & could write on my upstairs patio, next to the pool, even in my huge bathroom if it got hot. We loved taking a dip in the pool after breakfast & before bed, & the sound of the automatic waterfall each afternoon. Great location on a residential street in the Centro with lots of Westerners, a short walk to restaurants, coffee shops, popular nightspots like Dzalbay (jazz & blues) & La Negrita (cringe) Cantina, Santa Ana & de Santa Lucía parks, Paseo Montejo (the major boulevard), an English-language bookstore, etc. Terrific breakfasts with music in a lovely palapa: coffee, tea, fresh fruit & juice, homemade cinnamon rolls & a different entrée each day, alternating between Mexican & American dishes, primarily egg-based, though they accommodate dietary restrictions. Super friendly & helpful staff. Aaron arranges tours, dinner reservations & airport pickups, fixes any problem immediately & interprets between non-Spanish-speaking guests & the 3 women who cook & clean. The new American owners, Sarah & George, are very nice & fun to talk to.

Mom said the living room got noisy as times (all I heard in the back were birds, cats & some nightclub music). The wifi occasionally got spotty, but they immediately tried to fix it; I only missed one meeting. The kitchen could use more equipment, napkins & dishes - a wooden spoon was the only cooking utensil, which I took as a Chopped-style challenge (LOL).

We really enjoyed our stay at George & Sarah’s place - tucked away in the backstreets of Mérida. They have created such a relaxed & friendly atmosphere and are always on hand, along with Aron, for useful local information or just a friendly chat. Breakfasts were excellent, we had a different one each day of our 4 night visit - always tasty and well-balanced. We didn’t get a chance to use the honesty bar as we loved the Mérida nightlife(which starts early!) There were lots of other helpful touches like a chilled water dispenser in the lobby, beach towels, plenty of insect repellent available to use. Thanks to the all team for such a great stay.

Not a dislike but our room looked onto the small pool and public areas around the garden so for privacy you need to close the curtains

What a wonderful week my friend and I had here for my birthday! The grounds are so lush and pleasant, like a lil oasis in the big city of Mérida. Love the lil nook with hammock chairs. Beds were super comfortable and the hot shower was probably the warmest shower I've had in all of México ever! The a/c worked great too. We also enjoyed having access to our Netflix account to watch TV when we needed a rest. The provided breakfast was a nice touch and a great way to start the day. They even privided non dairy milk and gluten free bread for me. My friend enjoyed being able to purchase a bottle of wine. Great location. Only 5 minute walk to Parque Santa Ana where there are many food options and another few minutes to Paseo Montejo. About 17 minute walk to Plaza Grande. Sarah, George, Aaron and the women who cooked and cleaned after us were all wonderful. My friend secretly organized for them to decorate our room for my 50th! And they did a great job. Sarah and George made sure we had a full breakfast and towels before we left at 7am one morning for a tour!!! Started our day off perfectly. And when I asked if they knew someone who could drive me (and my excessive amount of luggage) to Cancun for my flight they immediately found me a great person. This personal attention made a great place amazing!!

Maybe a lil heat in the pool. The beautiful lushness and shade meant the pool was sometimes too cold for me. I'd also suggest adding some frijoles and tortillas de maíz with each breakfast just to make it a bit more filling. The breakfasts did fill me but I got hungry earlier in the day than usual sometimes. However, these are minor things. We would stay at Casa del Maya again just as it is.

I stayed 4 nights in January 2023. It’s nice and quiet. All the staff including the owner, George, are very kind. The water pressure of hot shower is good. A little swimming pool is good for cooling off from the hot sun during the day. Has a beautiful garden with lots of comfortable chairs.

A bit far from the historic district (Plaza Grande). Takes 15-20 mins on foot. It was too hot to walk during the day, because of the heat from sun. After sunset, it’s great to walk around. Breakfasts were sometimes a bit too salty. But overall, good.

George and Sarah are great hosts. Thank you for your warm welcome and kindness. Drew and I arrived early morning in Merida from Tijuana and they accommodated us, letting us check in early and we were able to get much needed rest before we explored the city on foot on a hot and humid day. They are also very helpful with recommendations on restaurants, car rentals and cenotes around Merida. Thanks to George for recommending El Apapacho…I’d come back to Merida just for their cocktails alone. hahaha! Thank you also to the staff of Casa Del Maya for making us great breakfast everyday and to Aaron for the information about Merida. We’ve been to Mexico many times and nowhere did I feel so at home than in Merida. Hope to be in the city and another stay at Casa Del Maya.

Casa de Maya makes you feel at home! We loved our stay and were pleased with how special the staff made us feel. Aaron took great care of us and provided great suggestions like visiting Hacienda Sotuta de Peón, which was incredible! The owners, Sarah and George, are genuinely one of the sweetest and most down-to-earth people we've ever met. When George heard about our engagement, he was so happy for us; it felt like we were giving the news to a relative. I can't stress enough how lovely Casa de Maya is; if you are visiting Merida, I highly recommend booking your stay here! From the bottom of our hearts, we wish the best to Casa de Maya and all of its future endeavors.

Had a lovely stay - the B&B is like a little tropical oasis in the middle of the city complete with gardens and a pool and plenty of space to relax! It was easy to let ourselves in and out of the hotel. Host is friendly and charming and gave us lots of great recommendations of restaurants and things to see/do in Merida. Guest room was clean and roomy, and we appreciated the nod to local artistry and craftsmanship. There are plenty of snacks/drinks you can help yourself to in the refrigerator using an honor system method of payment. Pool was clean. Fresh-cooked breakfast in the morning was excellent.

Other guests could be a little noisy at times, otherwise it was a peaceful stay!

This is a charming boutique hotel located at a colonial house in a calm and quiet neighborhood, with tastefully decorated rooms representing different aspects of Mayan history and culture. Cleaning is top-notch, and rooms are spacious and comfortable (great bed, ideal to relax after a long day spent sightseeing). Staff is super friendly and welcoming, and always willing to help out with your questions and requests. They are also very generous, with free sunscreen and mosquito repellent provided, and pool towels and bags to borrow for visiting the cenotes. Breakfast is very good and varied (we had egg burritos, French-toast, avocado toast), and is accompanied with fresh juice, coffee/tea, fruit and homemade cinnamon rolls; however, heartier options could be offered to people who don’t eat eggs (as is my husband’s case).

To be honest, the only reason this wasn’t a 5-stay stay was the shower in our first-floor room (Ixchel): fanstastic pressure, BUT the temperature was always either lukewarm or cold. Also, bear in mind that, although location is very good, the main square is about a 15-min walk at a good pace (so it is central, but maybe not that convenient for guests with limited mobility).

The owner and the manager did a good job to make guest happy at the hotel. The breakfast was great. the view of the room we stayed was great. It is quiet.

The bedsheet for the first night was really uncomfortable. We asked the sheet to be changed to cotton and it was good. The mattress is too soft. The photo on the booking.com shows the yellow wall and makes the place attractive and warming place. But the wall colour is no longer yellow and makes it lack of charm.
