Novotel Christchurch Airport

Early morning flight so the location was excellent.

Could advise of the airport facing rooms, much more interesting.

The room was lovely and comfortable. (Loved being runway side at the airport). It's quiet too.

My only complaint was the cafe. The food was fabulous, but if you were in there just for a coffee, the set up was not ideal. They forgot my first order and I had to re-order. The 2nd day, they forgot again and were off doing other stuff that I couldn't even re order. I went to the counter to cancel my order and the lady had to get someone else. That took a few minutes, but I had a flight to catch so couldn't wait. As i was getting in the lift, someone came running after me and advised they couldn't find proof of my order. They did offer to make me another coffee - and if I had time, I'd have shown them the payment on my card.

An excellent location on level 6 overlooking the airfield and terminals. The breakfast is always hearty and includes many options that I suspect matches most guests' preferences.

We were exhausted on arrival due to a flight departing late, so we needed our sleep and possibly did not take advantage of all that hotel offers. We were well greeted, even if we may have looked like 2 tired zombies on arrival at your reception. We also had to rush through breakfast due to sleeping later than usual, check out time and the arrival of our renting car. Your staff offered an hour later check out, which we would have happily accepted, except for the timing of our rental matched our check out time.

The Hotel was very clean. The staff was extremely friendly. The location is very convenient as it's just outside the airport. 3 minutes walk and you reach the hotel. The best part is that the car hire free shuttle busses are also available outside the airport so overall the location of the hotel is very good. Around 10-15 minutes walking distance from the hotel is a market where you can buy groceries and there are lots of restaurants for lunch and dinner. Multiple cuisines - Thai, Western, Korean, Japanese, Indian, etc. I booked the hotel 6 months in advance so got a great deal for the room, though I stayed there just for a night with my husband and 2 kids. The buffet breakfast was very good, me and my family enjoyed it. The hotel also has a nice bar so we enjoyed our evening having wine. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Modern contemporary feel, very convenient and close to the airport. The modern Euro interior design gives it a feeling of a hotel many stars above what it really is. We were literally in our room from the plane in 15 minutes. Rooms are well appointed with wonderful views of the airport tarmac.It was nice that the toilet is separate from the shower, helps a lot with a family of 4, so that one person is not holding up the rest! Complimentary water bottles were a nice touch!

Room size is perfect for 2 people. For a family of 4, it can feel cramped. Also, shower door would not close completely, resulting in water pooling outside.

Wonderful location! Amazing views from the restaurant and bar area, and the food was exceptional!!! We couldn't fault the service or the food quality.

Hopefully just a timing issue, but the queue at check in was insane. Probably the worst experience I have ever had, travelling the world many times over. Clearly not enough staff, and no option for other staff to intervene or help out... no option for someone else to come and calm the long queue, offer water or anything like that. Two people holding the fort did amazingly well, and were very apologetic. Novatel- you need to do better - for your customers and your staff. It was stressful for everyone.

The hotel was extremely close to the international terminal at the airport. The beds were very comfortable and there were restaurants to eat very close by. We were able to check in a bit earlier too. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would recommend Little India for a great, reasonably priced meal. This is a great place to stay if you have a very early flight.

The room was too hot and I didn’t like the layout of the shower and toilet. There was not a bathroom as such, but rather a shower and toilet separate with a basin in the room. No where to place clothing or toiletries.

Stayed because we had an early flight the next morning. Very comfortable rooms, the staff were very friendly and it is literally a stone's throw from the airport. Even with lots of luggage and a very tired 5 year old (it was 4am) it took about one minute to walk to the airport. There was a luggage trolley in the hallway right outside our room in the morning. Whether that was placed there by staff or just blind luck, it was very convenient.

Nothing to speak of. We didn't dine in the hotel and only stayed the one night so can't comment on many of the services.

The hotel was next door to the airport so within easy walking distance but we weren't disturbed by any noise from overflying planes so the double glazing/sound proofing was very good. Overall the hotel was clean and comfortable.

The smoke detector in our room had been covered in sticky tape, presumably by a previous guest. We had to report this to reception as it hadn't been picked up by the staff before we noticed it. The hotel was more expensive than any of the other places we had stayed at in NZ but I guess that was due to its prime location, right next to the airport.

Right next to the airport - just a 2-minute walk. Reception was fast and especially friendly/courteous - we were able to temporarily park the rental car and drop our bags in the room before we had to go back and return the car (thanks!). Food in the restaurant was decent, views amazing. Room was nice and comfy, and I actually slept well, which rarely happens before a 3:30 am wake-up! Checkout was wonderfully fast and friendly, much appreciated given how early it was in the morning and how others were leaving at the same time.

It was all great.
