Sherwood Hotel in Queenstown is a tranquil haven nestled amidst stunning natural surroundings. Our stay was marked by serene views, comfortable accommodations, and attentive service. The hotel's eco-friendly ethos and commitment to sustainability added to its allure. It's worth visiting the hotel restaurant, which offers extraordinary dishes prepared with local ingredients (the hotel even has its own vegetable and herb garden). Whether unwinding in the cozy rooms, indulging in delicious cuisine at the on-site restaurant, or simply relaxing in sauna, Sherwood Hotel offers an unforgettable retreat in Queenstown. Highly recommended.

The location fit our needs. The room and bathroom were clean. The bed very comfortable. The photos shown in the description of the property are accurate. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very good, but expensive. The sustainability aspect of the property was interesting, but pleasant. Appreciated the black out curtains for the windowed walls. We had a car which was convenient to drive into town. Queenstown seemed to have more night time activity and restaurants were open and serving later than other NZ towns we visited.

No TV's are in the rooms or anywhere on the property. While we weren't on vacation to watch TV per se, my husband is a news junky and the Australian Open for tennis was being played that evening. The reception staff suggested a couple of sports streaming apps and we were able to get to the AO and watch it on an iPad. So cudos to the Reception staff.

Everything was as expected, beautifully presented and immaculately clean, comfortable with a hint of subtle luxury. We had a Queen Lodge room and it was perfect for a restful last night in New Zealand. I made use of the sauna which was divine, and the restaurant staff were (mostly) friendly and accommodating of our dietary needs.

The restaurant is marketed as an eco-friendly establishment with a kitchen garden, but there were very few plant based options on the menu. The dinner staff were very friendly and accommodating to help us create a plant-based meal, but the breakfast staff seemed frusteratd by our requests. There were very limited alternatives available for dietary requirements for breakfast.

The Sherwood is about a 5min drive out of Queenstown city which made for a quiet stay. The property is one of the most sustainable we have ever stayed at which was incredible! The on site restaurant is great with incredible views of the lake as well as access to the kitchen garden where majority of the produce used in the restaurant is grown 😊

The only downside to our stay at The Sherwood was that our room looked straight out on to the carpark in front of reception so it was quite a busy little spot which also meant that anyone walking past to reception could see straight into our room. The only curtains in our room were large, heavy blockout curtains which meant that if they were closed in the middle of the day for privacy our room was super dark.

The bed was comfortable, I loved they had sustainability in mind and they embraced little quirks which enhanced the stay. I really loved the streaming music playing, it was like a little lullaby to sleep to. The food at the restaurant was delicious, unfortunately the Sauna was all booked out so I didn't get to try many of the facilities.

No milk in the fridge = no coffee for me in the morning and didn't have time to get down to reception to enquire, a lot of cars and not a lot of parks it seemed? The room was a little dark and not a lot of natural light. I would recommend booking a room with a view to ensure more light coming in if you prefer that.

The room was Industrial/Rustic meets Americana...we liked it!. Concrete and warm cork walls, felt nice and insulated. Really heavy "blanket' curtains to keep the cold out. Great little sitting area with nice Leather/wood chairs with crystals on the table. Bed was low and on a basic wood slat base but very comfortable. Good shower over bath. heaps of nice aromatic teas. No tv but a radio with good sound which was nice to listen to. Hillside and creek outlook. Waterfall started after rain but that was nice. We did enjoy a really nice meal at the restaurant. We would stay here again.

It did have a kind of back packer vibe to it which I wasn't quite expecting.. The reception was a good example. The "open air" feel of the reception area with an old rug on the floor covered in dust from the white gravel everywhere. It was not your usual Hotel foyer . Other parts of the building looked like they weren't in use but full of stuff...not the best impression for guests.

Great location -close to city but in a much nicer and quieter area. The bus stop was just below on the main road so easy access. Loved the outstanding view of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables Mountain Range from our room and enjoyed sitting at the window with a glass of wine soaking it all in! Very handsome decor- modern rustic that made you feel cozy! Loved the blankets, curtains and Kilim pillows. The fresh milk and oat milk was a great touch and the mini-kitchen was completely stocked with nice quality dishes, glasses, and more. The restaurant was beautiful and both breakfast and dinner were excellent. Enjoyed the fire pit area with a nightcap!

The person at the front desk when we checked in was not able to help with a few questions as she said she didn't really work there. (??) The bathroom was not as wonderful as the room. I like the wet room concept but the shower flooded the area even with the curtain pulled all the way around and there was no vanity or shelf so had to put all toiletries on window sill. However- really liked the smell of the toiletries! A French Press would have been a welcome addition. Love the look of the industrial lights but dim and only one near the bed, so had to use the bright overheads to read. Chairs are so cool but need pillows so you can get out of them.

Cool place, nice adjacent areas for dining and ping pong. Live music there one night. Rooms were nicely decorated and comfortable. Staff were friendly and attentive.

Can get quite noisy with driveway traffic, pedestrians etc so close to the room. We were also in a room next to a gas/water tank or something that groaned intermittently. The room keeping service station was also right outside out room (room 68). Staff were unable to relocate us to a different room as the place was fully booked. AC/climate control would be a great addition to rooms.

Really liked the fact that whole entire hotel were very environmentally friendly. There were no plastics anywhere and plenty of beers for different uses. Property was clean as well and staff at the reception were nice and welcoming.

Staff at the restaurant were very unfriendly and unpleasant. And main restaurant was always booked since it was small. Also the location of the hotel is not that convenient. For traveling to the city center each time we had to pay $40 on taxi to get to the city. And there are absolutely no parking available in the city center except for a couple of paid parking which are not cheap either.

This is such a cool and unique place to stay. I chose it for the location (between Frankton and Queenstown) but was blown away by the aesthetic and the vibe of the Sherwood complex. The sustainability elements are so unique, adn the story of how they renovated this accommodation is brilliant. The cost is moderate - there are cheaper places in Queenstown but this isn't a generic hotel. The restaurant is pretty exceptional - breakfast was lovely and not very expensive. I will return when I am next in Queenstown.

Because of the location I imagine a lot of guests access Sherwood via car, and there are a lot of rooms so a lot of guests when the place is busy. Add in public events such as concerts and a popular restaurant, and it may be hard to park on site or nearby during peak times (weekend evenings)
