Pousada Castelo de Palmela

The Castelo is in a lovely spot with amazing views. Their breakfast had extensive offerings and dinner was also delicious. We were just a short drive away to wine tourism and we enjoyed the town of Palmela as well. The staff were all lovely and accommodating.

We were unaware until our arrival of the Medieval Fair that was going on all weekend. An email was supposedly sent right before our stay, but we never received it. While my husband & I enjoyed the festivities, others in our party did not. it would be good to know at booking of such events!

Beautiful property attached to a midieval castle. The property is spacious and very clean. The staff was awesome and food was great. It is a little pricey but I feel it was worth it.

The only thing that wasn’t perfect was totally out of the hotel’s control. There had been a large wildfire the cane within feet of the property not long before we visited. There was a smokey smell in the hotel, especially the hall ways. I certainly do not hold the hotel responsible for this but thought it may be good to know for guests arriving soon.

Fabulous converted 15th century monastery/castle with outstanding views over the plains below towards Lisbon. If you ant a quiet room, this can't be beaten and the room price included a very good breakfast. The hotel space is extensive and being attached to the castle makes for a pleasant evening stroll around the grounds to take in the atmosphere and views.

Evening dining is available though the food is only average ad fairly expensive. The drinks in the hotel are expensive too! The car park is also used by castle visitors, so it can be tricky to find a space

Historic, renovated building with a large room and sweeping views to Setubal and the sea. Very good, quiet restaurant in patio with very friendly personnel. One can walk on the walls of the castle also in the evening, visit the castle church in the morning, and go down to the small beautiful village Palmela for a walk. Ideal for a relaxing stopover when arriving in the afternoon at Lisbon airport and heading for the South. Parking no problem

The last 150 m to the pousada could be signposted better, We were at first stopped by a traffic sign that seemed to indicate that we could not go nearer to the Pousada.

We absolutely loved the property and it’s special, medieval, historic site. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The grounds were beautiful and the room was extremely comfortable. We travelled with an 11 yr old and he was very happy with the proximity of the castle and church right outside of the Pousada. We decided to stay 2 nights and went to a beach in Galapinhos, which was close to Palmela. We took Ubers but many guests drive in as there is complimentary parking onsite.

Staying in an ancient castle was an amazing experience. The staff was wonderful. I decided to have dinner on site and was very glad I did. No complaints at all. Keep driving up and up until you are at the parking lot at the top.

It is a medieval castle nestled on the top of a hill. The tower provides a beautiful 360 degree view . We had dinner there the first evening and it was impeccable in terms of service and quality(I recommend the veal it is delicious). Our breakfast was lovely. The staff are very friendly and professional and they take extra attention to make us feel special. The grounds are magical. The beaches along Setubal are also very close, ie 14-17 euro

The included breakfast buffet was extensive and delicious! The room itself was great, with a very high ceiling and a great view of Palmela. By far tho, the best part of our stay was exploring the castle and the chapel just a few steps outside the front door of the hotel.

The bed was slightly more firm than we usually prefer, but we still got a good night's sleep.

During the day we took the time exploring the hidden beaches in Setubal (Praia de Galapinhos is highly recommended), so evening was spent exploring this unique historical property that extends back to the period of Islamic occupation. What a fabulous experience being able to stay in the convent and wander about the castle. One of our favorite stays in Portugal.

The Reception from the young lady in charge was exceptional so personal and so welcoming. The facilities are amazing and the site is seepedin history. Truly excellent!!!!
