The Station Hotel

A lovely character hotel. There is a bar and a restaurant for drinks, breakfasts and evening meals. My room, though small, had everything that I needed. It was spotlessly clean and the bed was more comfortable than the one I have at home! The Station Hotel is well positioned being within two minutes easy walk of both bus stops and the local railway station. There is an Indian restaurant just over the road and there are an assortment of other cafes and takeaways within five minutes on foot. The staff were friendly and helpful. I am so glad that I stayed here on my journey north rather than in much more touristy (and expensive) Inverness.

ALL Staff were Excellent, Extremely Polite, Welcoming and interested in providing Guests with an exceptional experience. Location was excellent, with ample Parking & a very short walk to the Venue we were attending. Breakfast & Evening Dinner were extremely Large Portions of tasty high quality food at very reasonable prices, Pre-Booking advisable. Attic Room & en-suite were clean, light and of a suitable size for our requirements.

Nothing could have been any better. Note that this is a Historic Building with some rooms in the attic - This was of no personal consequence for our stay, (we were offered an alternative room if required) however anyone whom has difficulty with Stairs should request a room on the Lower floor when booking.

You could not find fault with anything. VERY CLEAN. Great food. Staff would do summer salts to make your stay the best experience ever. Got to be one of the most hospitable hotels We have stayed in, every single member of the staff we met, were polite courteous and nice to talk to. I came to vist my Uncle, unfortunately my aunt died 2 years ago,I missed the funeral due to covid. I had my wife and daughter in law, and my gorgeous 9 month old grand daughter with me, cannot thank the staff enough for making our stay such a pleasure .

Nothing to dislike clean friendly good food what more do you need.

Room wasn't very clean. Lots of dust on radiators. Shower had dirt around tray. Hairs on and around toilet and bin. Some sort of tablet lying beside radiator in bathroom that wasn't cleaned up before I booked in or even after my first night. No liner in bathroom bin. Water marks running down the walls. Bit disappointed as the information said that the rooms gad been refurbished

Breakfast was good but I had to ask Mark when we arrived whether or not breakfast was included in the price. I had assumed it was as I didn't see it said anywhere that it wasn't. Next time I'll go through Trivago if I can get it to work. You need a chair in the room. Swap this section for the one following, please.

What I did like: All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel reminded me of a hotel I used to work in. It had a nice feel to it.

The hotel and restaurant are located in this off-the tourist route town, which makes it a pleasant local experience, though there is not much to see around. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the room is bigger than the average room-size. Although it was facing the street it was really quiet. Breakfast options are very generous, so come hungry! Dinner is fine as well.

I came for a room with bathtub, which unfortunately was taken already when I arrived. Make sure to mention in the comments of your reservation if you wish to stay in a speficic room, as otherwise the management won't know.

From the moment I arrived, all the staff I encountered - even in passing! were warm and friendly. The room was spotlessly clean, very well equipped, shower fabulous! Slept like a log as it was so peaceful at night. Plenty of space in the room, good wifi, hairdryer etc. In the mornings, staff were welcoming and cheerful. Wonderful continental selection, great coffee and outstanding cooked breakfast - a delicious joy!

Breakfast is amazing. The wee Scottish is the safe bet as it's slightly smaller but even at that I struggle that I've gradually whittled it down - I've stayed so many times now. So much choice on the dinner menu. HIGHLY recommend the venison!

Parking can be hit or miss depending upon when you arrive but Jill, the manager, assures me the road at the back of the hotel is available for unrestricted parking.

The location is on the main road in Alness. It was great for us as it was on route for our cycle trip to John O'Groats. At first the receptionist could not find the key for the garage to lock our bikes but came back very quickly in the pouring rain to give us the key. The service at the meal was excellent. There was lots of staff looking after us and quickly delivered food and drinks. You could have a laugh with the staff and they seemed to enjoy working there.Breakfast was continental, or full Scottish for a premium. Our continental was great.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were large and very comfortable. It was conveniently located in town and walking distance to a market.

Not entirely recommended if you like to go to bed early or sleep in, lol. We stayed in the family suite on the 3rd floor on a Friday night. There was a band at the bar downstairs that was quite loud until around 10pm. There are also no window shades in the double room so it was bright very early in the morning. Otherwise, we really did enjoy our stay!
