The hotel has a central position within Carlisle next to the rail station and within easy reach of all amenities (shopping/leisure). The standard double room was of a good size, clean, comfortable with bath and fixed shower. Ideal for an overnight stay. Buffet breakfast was satisfactory. Staff were all extremely helpful.

The only small point was that the noise from pubs and clubs until 1am is noticeable but we were aware of this before booking and didn't find this too intrusive but light sleepers might... overall it didn't detract from our stay. We did note that earplugs were available if required 🙂

Unbeatable location literally next door to the main train station. All window inserts contained an extra layer of glass which muffled out most of the noise from the station and surrounding pubs. Walkable distance from all major locations including the music venues of the Old Fire Station (which I attended) and the Sands Centre, plus the Castle and shops. Buffet breakfast in the morning, serving hot and cold food, was laid out in a well presented dining room. The bar area is very comfortable and looks to have been refurbished recently. My room had tea and coffee making facilities (not always a given!) and the reception were happy to replenish if you run out. Finally, the carpets throughout, including my room, were soft and bouncy, benefitting from a decent underlay for a change. Lift access to all floors plus stairs. Good price.

We are not breakfast people so didn't take it. However it smelled good as we passed the dining room. The staff were friendly and helpful. They lent us a phone charger and were happy to refreeze our freezer block for the cooler box we had with us. They advised us on local places to eat where our dog could come in with us. Well laid out room with space to put our bags etc

The room faced to the front of the building which had the sun on it all day so it was very hot inside as the window only opened a few inches but the noise from the bars nearby went on till 4am the first night. There was a fan which we used to cool us.

Location was ideal right next to the train station entrance. I stayed midweek and had windows open throughout my stay and no problem with noise. Which I’d read about on other reviews. But I can see this been a problem on weekends as the street next to the hotel is closed off to traffic, due to all the bars and clubs on the street. If you’re wanting a weekend hotels close to nightlife it’s a good choice. Room was clean and tidy, furniture was showing it age with a few scratches but still fully functional. Asked about awake up call as unable to program them. Reception asked what time I wanted the wake up call. I received a personal wake up call and not an automated one which I thought was a nice touch.

Breakfast staff too attentive. I only just put my last mouthful of breakfast in my mouth. Put my knife and fork bad on the plate. By the time I’d finished chewing by breakfast the plate had been cleared away. 2 emails every day asking you if you wanted to up grades

Excellent location. Staff at reception were very professional and friendly. Rooms were spacious and clean with a really comfortable bed and pillows. Nice big plug in fan also provided in the room which was really appreciated as the day/night we stayed was really warm. Thoroughly recommend the hotel and wouldn't hesitate to book again 😊

Two very minor things as in the car park was a bit confusing to find and would have liked an earlier check, although it was no problem to leave our bags and come back.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The bath towels were large and fluffy, better than the usual hotel standard. The hotel is in a very central location with numerous restaurants and bars nearby and is only a few minutes walk from the shops.

It was rather noisy at times. I was awakened at 5.30am by a loudly slamming door which I'm sure was caused by thoughtless guest rather than anyone belonging to the hotel but wasn't a pleasant experience. The noise level outside the hotel increased from about that time too which is obviously the downside of being so close to the station.

After being stranded in Carlisle due to the adverse weather, we booked this hotel last minute, and we're so glad we did. The hotel itself is very clean and tidy. The staff were so accommodating after we asked to extend our stay they got the price down for us and seemed to genuinely want to help us. The location of the hotel is very central to everything. It's literally a few feet away from the train station, which is handy if you have loads of luggage. The breakfast there is your usual standard hotel breakfast, hot and continental provided. And the facilities are all there with amenities. They also make sure you have enough toiletries and emenities if you're staying more than a day. Over all its a brilliant little hotel, and we would definitely stay again.

The only thing which I didn't "like," which really isn't something I'm that bothered about is the decor was slightly outdated. However, that doesn't bring down the experience of the hotel.

Hotel was very clean and public rooms were well appointed. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had two problems. One was of our own making. Both problems were dealt with in a friendly manner.

Breakfast could have been better. Buffet breakfast are always a bit of a lottery. Timing is everything. The lights that keep the food warm always seem to impair it. The fried eggs were victims of this. Or were they cooked in a strange way? Quite difficult to even cut the fried egg! Didn't speak to the staff as they were so friendly and didn't want to sound difficult. We had three breakfast and all were average at best. Disappointed that the hotel no longer does evening meals. I accept the point made by reception that there were many eating options on the doorstep. Their research had revealed that guests preferred to eat out. We must be the exception. On cold, wet and dark November nights, we would have preferred easy access from our room to the restaurant.

Excellent location, right beside the train station and a 5 minute walk to the town centre or in our case the Xmas markets. Lots of options available for food and drink nearby from take-away to sit-in restaurants. Staff were very friendly and welcoming and they gave good tips for things to do in the local area. Room (single) was a good size, warm with a comfy bed and blackout curtains. hairdryer was provided along with towels, shampoo, body wash, hand wash, tea and coffee making facilities, hankies and a tv on the wall. The hotel bar was quiet in the evening and it was showing the world cup football which we enjoyed. Breakfast was very good, fried, hot and continental, fruit and yogurt selection, cereals and toast, tea and coffee freely available. Would recommend this hotel and would stay here again if I was in the area.

This hotel only serves breakfast no lunch or evening meals so you have to plan to go out for these. The tv in my room didn't get a good reception (didn't bother me but might be important to someone else). In my room you could hear some of the train announcements from the station next door but not enough to be annoying just in the background.
