The Sycamore Tree

We stayed in Longtown 1 night because we wanted a break of journey near M6. We were warmly welcomed by the host who showed us our room. The room was far more comfortable than expected with plenty of space, good bed, good bathroom and lots of little extras eg bottled water, holiday pack (shampoo, shower gel, emery boards, comp, sewing kit etc), flip flops. The breakfast included a good selection and was well cooked. Good wi-fi, easy on-street parking. Fairly quiet room. Hotel serving good pub food nearby. Essential shops and a post office are nearby. Very reasonable price.

Longtown appears to have seen better times and has fewer shops and facilities than one might expect for a place of this size. Mind your head on some of the doorways if you're tall.

Everything was fab. It was a hot night and there was a remote controlled fan in our room - a first in my experience and a wonderful surprise. The room and bathroom were large - with a big bath and big fluffy towels and flannels. Again much appreciated and it is rare that flannels are provided. The breakfast in the morning was fabulous - lots of choice and beautifully cooked and presented.

Nothing - The Sycamore Tree had everything we wanted - and more.

I was running late, so rang the proprietor, a very amiable man who told me his name, but I promptly forgot. He told me it was no bother and to ring when I’m outside. Showed up about an hour later and he was most welcoming. Introduced himself properly yet I still can’t remember his name. My apologies. Showed me round the adjacent cafe which looked lovely. Showed me the room which was an amazing bargain. The room had a king size bed which is very comfortable. The chairs are comfortable. The en-suite is bright and clean. Lovely complimentary toiletries, which were great because I forgot mine. Complimentary soft drinks also. Lovely, well kept, bright and clean. Had friends staying at an unnamed, larger hotel down the street. This place is much nicer and better value for money.

Just what I needed. The room was magnificent. It was clean, roomy and had everthing I needed. There was enough coffee, milk, tea etc than any place I have ever stayed in. Very generous. the four poster bed was the final perfect touch. I felt like I was in a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was pentiful. Highly recommend.

Only downside was the noise outside. Tractors rolling by early hours. so bring your ear buds.

Great welcome on arrival - host was very welcoming and helpful. Room was beautifully clean with a sumptuous king sized four poster bed. Lovely matching bedroom furniture. Gowns and slippers available for that extra touch of luxury. Beautiful bathroom and great shower; lovely toiletries included as well. Amazing breakfast included in the price - the haggis was a great addition. Will definitely return - just brilliant.

Nothing - this place is perfect.

We were made very welcome, and the room was lovely with extra touches like robe and slippers. The breakfast was superb, and we could choose a time, which meant we could eat early and be off early in the morning. Right on the main road which was good for us as we wasted no time finding it, and the busy traffic quietened down over night so was no problem

Everything was lovely - if I have to choose something, I would say a mug rather than a cup in the bedroom (I like a big mug of tea!)

Nothing was too much trouble. They cooked a meal for us after the cafe closed when we couldn’t find anywhere open. I even got given a box of chocolates when there was a problem with my breakfast.

Nothing except (which wasn’t their fault) the decision by the company installing broadband to repair the pavement outside our room after 9pm.

Lovely Comfortable, well decorated, spotlessly clean room, with comfy beds, good hospitality tray, lovely bathroom, with a shower that was exceptional. lovely toiletry pack provided too, and towels. John the host was exceptional, very friendly and helpful, and provided us with a superb evening meal, (G/F)..and an enormous and delicious breakfast. the place is situated right on the main road, on the way to Scotland, but despite this is very peaceful and surprisingly quiet at night for sleeping. longtown is a good little town, with most of what you need. would stay here again in a heartbeat, and most likely will next year on route to Scotland, ALSO has a good menu of Gluten free meals, for people such as me...IT was also beautifully decorated for xmas!!

The room was well laid out with a lovely bathroom with tea and coffee making facilities the bed was very comfortable the staff were very friendly and helpful the breakfast was lovely and a good choice

The A7 could be noisy at times however a goodie bag of toiletries also include ear plugs should you want them

What a fantastic little B&B. The room was huge, very comfy and clean. It was so cosy. Plenty of space in wardrobe to hang clothes up. You’re provided with dressing gowns and a little toiletry set. Breakfast was amazing. Choice of continental and cooked. We had the English Breakfast. It was huge! Very tasty. Really friendly staff. Easy check in and check out. Would definitely recommend.
