Lovely setting. Spacious room. Nice breakfast with 4 options though coffee was a little strong. Nice to see the Christmas decorations still up in the bar. Other visitors commented that the garlic mushrooms were good.

A ghost touched my foot and I couldn’t sleep. There was also a portal into another realm in the bathroom. My partner had to get up and close the bathroom door. The room was really hot. Due to the sliding door on the bathroom, you could see through the gap and see the person on the toilet.

Everything really! This gorgeous Georgian property is a small country hotel surrounded by the wide flat Cumbrian farmland a short distance west from Carlisle. The spacious bedroom overlooked the countryside to the Eden estuary and hills beyond. Dinner and breakfast was phenomenal and substantial. Food is locally sourced and you can tell the difference between this and chain hotel supplies. The staff and owner were exceptionally welcoming and chatty. We would return in a shot if in the area.

Would have appreciated a lamp on the desk in the bedroom to enable writing.

Breakfast was very good. A good selection to suit us all. Staff were very accommodating. We were visiting for a family party that was in the hotel function room which was a lovely night with a lovely meal and a lovely mix of indoor and out door facilities for catching up with and enjoying the night with family and friends. In spite of the party going on the family room we booked was not bothered by it, good news for the toddler. Family members not staying at the hotel were able to join us the following day for breakfast which was a nice fathers day bonus.

Staff are very friendly, they welcomed us and our dog. Rooms are stylish and clean, large mirrors, plenty of plug sockets and comfy warm bed. Welcome pack, gives you the history of the hall which is a lovely touch. The food is fantastic, great presentation, very tasty, hot, and large portions, excellent service. Staff go out of their way to make you welcome. Excellent location close to Carlisle, has lovely grounds to walk your pet and I loved the lights in the trees and around the pillars. The two highland cows and Gizmo (very friendly cat) was added fun.

I tend to iron my clothes and hang them up in my car for short stays, the wardrobe in our room had a claw peg hanger and two hooks at the back, which made hanging my clothes a little tricky. Mums room had a lovely large wardrobe. This is a minor point and I would highly recommend staying at this hotel, we all left very happy and would love the opportunity to revisit this lovely hotel.

Absolutely amazing service from the minute me and my son walked though the doors. I got my booking wrong for a 2 person stay it was down for a 1 person stay but it was sorted out right away we got offered a family room just for the one night then we had to change rooms the day after. The staff was very helpful and very kind. There food they did was so delicious and very filling. And there puddings absolutely out of this world. I will definitely use this hotel again. Thank u so much to everyone I felt so welcome and my son loved it too 💙

There wasn't anything that I didn't like if there was any issues or anything it was easy to go and speak to a member of staff and they were very helpful. For a hotel it was so quiet. This was the best hotels that I have ever stayed at. The 2 rooms that me and my son stayed at were nice n clean and so nice. Beds where very comfy 😴

A lovely old place, with tons of character. Having stayed for a night once before and discovered it was dog friendly, we decided to go back with our dog for short break. Breakfast and dinner were as good as we remembered, and we appreciated how welcoming they were towards our hound. A very enjoyable stay - thank you!

No significant issues. The shower could have done with a bit more water pressure, but it was certainly usable.

OK, so the rooms are a bit dated and tired, but I couldn't help but love the place. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to look after you. The room was quite, full of light and comfy. We ate at the restaurant on one evening. The food was excellent, as was the service. The resident cat was funny, he clearly owns the place much to my greyhounds complete horror! Again, breakfast was excellent. More than enough food and choice of cereal and toast, juices...the usual. Very dog friendly.

The rooms are a bit dated and tired looking and the ensuite was old, but it all worked ok.

The Greenhill hotel is a beautiful property surrounded by lovely grounds. It is set back far enough from the A595 to be quiet and tranquil. Our room was large, classically decorated, with 2 large windows allowing for much natural light. The breakfast room was spacious and also nicely decorated. Our breakfast was excellent! The staff were very friendly.

It is unfortunate that we were only staying the one night on our way to Scotland.

Well-appointed room very clean, very good vegetarian breakfast. Set in parkland the property is very geared to its wedding venue business. The morning we were leaving there was some level of bustle and excitement from the early hours.as the bridal party moved from the inebriation of the night before to the pampering and preparation of hairstyle and makeup for the BIG DAY. A Good Experience Overall

After an eight hour drive of some 450 miles mostly via closed or restricted motorways we arrived just after midnight. The Nightporter was somewhat 'Grumpy' perhaps 'Sleepy' but certainly not 'Bashful. when he declined to help us with our cases to our first floor room. We shamed him into helping by pointing out that being variously 79 and 85 years of age with heart conditions and two dogs to maneuver we would have severe difficulties. He did then carry them up the grand sweeping staircase and placed them in our room. Unfortunately the walls in this grand building must have been paper thin because before we could open our overnight bags the adjacent guests were banging on the walls and shouting at us to be quiet.

The Greenhill Hotel is situated in an easy to find location, with some lovely features and decor inside. There are a good selection of gins and wines at the bar and the restaurant had a very good selection of dishes to choose from. The all important breakfast was excellent! On top of this was a team of welcoming and helpful staff, making our stays very enjoyable on our road trip up to the Scottish Highlands and on the return journey.
