Smithton Hotel

> Excellent location very close to the markets and the motorway. > Excellent breakfast. > Excellent and friendly staff. > Free & ample parking space. > Comfy beds. > Warm/heated rooms. > Check-in & check-out was very smooth and quick. > Very easy to locate.

> No hair dryer in the room/bathroom (contrary to what had been advertised). > Flights of stairs to get to the top rooms. > A little on the expensive side. > Would've liked some biscuits alongside the tea facilities in the room. > Should have an option of a breakfast box where travellers who have to go out earlier than the breakfast times can take a box of packed breakfast.

Room- linens, room, carpet were clean, towels were white, big and fluffy, shower was hot, bed was comfy. Had dinner there and it was better than expected. Staff was lovely. Curtains kept out the summer light. The carpet in the hallways looked new. Quick drive to Ness Walk which was super to do in the evening.

Opens at exactly 3:00 pm, so if you're hoping to get there early for a room, they won't be there. Walls were thin, we were above the bar (weeknight, though, so not sure if that matters) but it was super quiet after we got home from our walk at 10:00 PM (summer). TV next door was on until exactly 11:00 at which time I fell sound asleep and slept thru until my alarm went off in the AM. Also- couldn't figure out how to open the window but room stayed comfortable.

Great value. Booked for 3 adults and got family room - adjoining rooms 15 and 17. Son nabbed room with double bed, husband and I took the other with two singles. Loads of space for son's swimming gear as well as usual stuff packed for weekend - loved 2 bathrooms, TVs etc. We will back!

Only thing I was not keen on were the breakfast sausages - personal choice though than anything else. Absolutely nothing else we didn't like and because of that we would not hesitate to return or recommend to others.

very accommodating, the food was excellent breakfast and evening meal, staff were great and sorted a packed lunch for the following day. It was a dated property, but no complaints with the cleanliness or décor, the patrons were friendly to

some of the rooms windows open over the outside seating / smoking area - very noisy at times and the smell of smoke can be experienced and it was not the wild fire about 5 miles away. Very little can be done as the weather was extremely hot, just a note to mention it

Room was a reasonable size and clean . We arrived a little later than expected but we’re still able to have an evening meal . Food was fine , pub grub. We all agreed the breakfast was delicious , one of the best we had whilst travelling the 500. The staff were exceptionally friendly .

Not something that bothered us but worth noting if travelling with children . It has a pub below the bedrooms so expect some noise, not particularly noisy but best to be aware.

Surprisingly good after the first impression of its exterior. Warm welcome and efficiently checked-in to an upgraded room which had a large lounge area and all facilities. Extremely comfortable! Dinner was excellent, efficiently served by very friendly staff though given the day we stayed everyone, both staff and guests, were subdued at the news. We had an excellent chicken soup, full of veg and large chunks of chicken - almost a meal in itself followed by fish and chips (chips replaced with a big salad for my husband) with good ice-cream. OUur picnic lunch (instead of taking breakfast) was ample.

Room was large and comfy with a terrific view. Breakfast and dinner were both very good. So was the bar. The staff we met: Peter, Taylor, Matthew and Ashley in the kitchen were terrific. Welcoming, hardworking and really pleasant. We don't know the cleaning lady's name, but the room was immaculate. Hot water was plentiful, steaming and right on tap. A comfortable and friendly place.

Bathroom was a bit on the chilly side. The outside of the building doesn't do the experience of staying here justice. No lift, but we knew that when we booked. Small quibbles, really.

Good location. Breakfast was more than substantial with plenty of options and huge servings! Staff were all so helpful and friendly - gave us heaps of options of things to do in the area. We ate dinner here both nights and the meals were decent. Peter was very friendly and even gave us a lovely little Christmas gift on our departure which was very kind. Rooms were clean and warm - we had the adjoining rooms for a family of three which was handy. From the street this place doesn’t look too flash but don’t let that put you off!

Whilst the hotel was a little 'dated' it was clean and comfortable. The room even included a small fridge. The bar area was also the Dining Room but it was reasonably spacious and two TV screens displayed the selected programme. Breakfast was from 7pm which I was able to utilise for an earlier start to drive back home. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The small fridge was slightly noisy so I turned it off during the night and turned on in the morning before departure.

I enjoyed the breakfast, very friendly staff and they kept my luggage for me which was very kind of them. I really appreciated the tour guides and leaflets in room showing places and things to do. Beds were super comfy and really enjoyed the bath as not a big fan of showers!

Water left in rooms as felt thirsty but they did have a Bar downstairs to be fair but would prefer to have stayed in room with water, did use tap tho and tasted nice so can’t complain to much on. Did not like the mini fridge in room or curtains as a bit outdated and tacky. Bottom of stairs before reception smelt like urine which wasn’t very nice. Also was slightly outside the center which made it a little bit awkward to get to as wasnt many taxis available and took ages to arrive as a result. Honestly overall a good experience and the staff and place was decent just those few little things I would say
