The Vine Inn Davis

This freshly-remodeled former Motel 6 is a fun and conveniently-located place to stay in Davis. Guests here are in the very walkable heart of downtown, and just blocks from the campus of UC Davis. Also - great shower with plenty of water pressure, and good air conditioning for hot afternoons/evenings. Friendly staff too. They have a free breakfast, but I didn't have time to try it. There's a lovely breakfast/lunch cafe across the street too.

The bed - while new and clean - was a bit soft for my taste, and there was neither a bar nor a vending machine for a nightcap or late-night snacks.

Room was clean and comfortable, had the basic tv microwave fridge. coffeemaker. Bed was comfortable bathroom had plenty of towels and soaps. No closet but plenty of drawer space Breakfast was more then I expected it was enough to get you the morning it was clean and roomie.

coffeemaker was good but limited supplies for coffee ( no creamer, napkins.) 2nd floor walkway is narrow so when leaving the housekeeping cart was blocking my path. with the ac unit sticking out of the wall the cart should have been positioned in a doorway of the room they were cleaning to allow a clear path.

The Vine Inn can be considered as a standard US motel, but with the benefit a great down town locaction in Davis. A nice renovated room with a comfortable beed raised the motel experience from the usually modest level for this kind of accommodation.

A fairly high price for the stay was somehow out of proportion with the offered hotel experience. Unless we next time again become in lack of a vacant acccomodation in Davis, we will choose an alternative and get better value for the money. Fortunately our stay took place at a time of the year, where only short operation of the noisy air-con/heater was required.

My second stay at The Vine Inn. This time I was on the ground floor, at level with parking and with no kind of barrier/demarcation between my room's door and the public spaces. [Second level rooms are accessed by common balcony, but more private.] I was a bit concerned about noise or foot traffic from other guests -- for no reason, as it turns out! My two nights were very quiet and peaceful. The only noise I heard was the early morning garbage trucks -- like the rest of Davis, I suspect. I found the room comfortable, clean, well-designed, and spacious. The breakfast buffet is not luxe, but has variety and is well stocked, and there are many nearby restaurant options for more substantial or tasty breakfast fare. All the shops of downtown Davis are handy and within walking distance, as is the AMTRAK station.

No complaints.

My ground floor room was spacious, with a couch, good lighting, places to keep luggage off the ground, big glass shower stall, quiet fridge, and good air conditioning. My car had space v close to my room. Great restaurant Cafe Bernardo was just around the corner, Saturday Farmers Mkt a block away, and shops, restaurants, ice cream all within surrounding blocks. Quiet at night even tho freeway was just 5 minutes away. Safe walkable area.

While taking a shower, a cricket crawled out of the drain and I trapped it til morning when I could kill it. Found two more crickets later in shower. Also the shower water drained AWAY from the water drain so it started to flood the bathroom. I had to use several towels to doak up the water flow. Or maybe the drain is plugged up?? Breakfast didn’t have any fresh fruit; usually there are apples, oranges or bananas at hotels/motels.

The Vine Inn is in the perfect location in downtown Davis, walking distance to stores, restaurants, Amtrak, arboretum and UC Davis. Breakfast is included and has a good, limited selection. The bathroom has all new, modern fixtures and a huge showerhead. The room includes a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and real, brightly colored mugs. An iron, ironing board, and hair dryer are stored in a drawer. The colorful rug and large photos on the walls are nice touches. The bed is comfortable.

I could not figure out how to work the air conditioner. None of the buttons seemed to do anything. A red light showed the filter needs changing. I went to bed with no air conditioner, but in the morning it was working. Then I did not know how to turn it off. Posting instructions by the air conditioner and changing the filter would be helpful.

I have stayed at other hotels in the Davis area, but this time opted for the Vine Inn because it was more affordable. I was very pleased. I could tell that the venue was quite busy, lots of cars in the parking lot, and was concerned that the motel type set-up might be noisy. In fact, I found the accommodation exceptionally quiet. The rooms are both well-appointed and simple: everything I needed was there. Location is central to restaurants and shopping. Staff was most helpful, gracious, and accommodating.

Altogether great value, was satisfied with everything.

The location is fabulous and the room is very comfortable.

We didn't eat the breakfast. Nothing looked appealing. We did like that they had small milk boxes. The coffee pod variety was poor and there wasn't an option for simple, drip coffee. All of the food was pre-packaged. Not low quality, but nothing I'll happily eat. It seems there was only one staff person on site at a time; they are often not at the desk. I had some problems with my reservation that the staff person couldn't figure out.

The location is great - within walking distance of everything in downtown Davis. It's just at the edge of the downtown area, so it was still quiet. The shower was great, good hot water and water pressure.

It's a motel situation, so all the rooms look out to the parking lot, which is lit at night. The shutters on the windows let light peek through around the edges. It would be nicer if there were blackout shades. Still, I slept fine.
