Rio Sands Hotel

We really enjoyed the bottom level rooms being able to walk right out into the lounge and pool area. The proximity to the beach and short walk to dining was great for our family. We really enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub. Beds were very comfy even the pull out. Kitchen was small but perfect for a few days and we really appreciated the full size fridge. Continental breakfast was good although they seemed to have less and less food as the days went on. Day 1 was amazing, day 4 was basically boiled eggs and cereal.

Hotel check in staff seemed irritated and short when checking in. We would have liked air conditioning as we didnt want to leave the sliding door open all night.

Early opening of pool and hottub to be able to use before chkout. Great breakfast options. Suggest to add hot chocolate packs and chocolate milk. Very comfortable bed. Wonderful King Suite spacious and clean overlooking pools.

Receptionist kept calling me asking me when I was going to chk in. When I said in a few hours and that I was traveling to get there...they called again. Felt rushed to get there to chk in so. Then she was rude when we arrived. (Sat night 10 to 11pm). Chk in took about 20 to 25 minutes! Way too long. Way to tedious. Way too rude.

This is my fav hotel in Aptos. It's super close to the beach, the breakfast is yummy! Everything is clean, and the pool is perfect temp all year!

my only dislike was I was expecting a stove and kitchen like I have previously, but I didn't have it for this one. I booked one of the most expensive ones so maybe I just assumed. I couldn't find the Quadruple room on the site after to see what it has, so it could be my fault. I just was travelling with my baby and I thought id have a sink to wash his bottles in other than the bathroom

Enjoyed the balcony with a view down the street to the beach. Comfortable bed. Reasonably quiet room. We very much enjoyed a day by the pool. Easy walk to the beach.

No air conditioning so we wouldn't contemplate a stay in mid-summer. We coped okay with the ceiling fan and left the window open. Room had an oven but our attempt to warm up a pizza set off the smoke alarm because the oven had not been cleaned properly. As the smoke alarm was ten feet up in the sloped ceiling we couldn't do anything about it except put our fingers in our ears. This noise had to have offended nearby room occupants but we could do nothing about it.

The location is awesome! We were traveling with a 3 yr old, a 2 yr old, and a five month old. It was so close to the beach we could just pack them up in a wagon and pull them there! The swimming pool it great too! So, is the breakfast!

They only allow one parking space per room rented, but some of the rooms fit large families, so they may need to come in 2 cars (or from different places, like we did). I think it should be case by case.

Great location close to the beach. Kind and committed staff and service. Comfortable beds and clean rooms. Great pool, hot tub and common area.

There was no central “dining” space in our room where we could all 3 sit and be together. The shower soap, shampoo, conditioner dispenser makes the bathroom feel like a locker room. Few healthy options in the continental breakfast. TOO MANY COVID WARNING signs and “restrictions” posted in the pool area. Such a relaxing space cluttered with imposed rules, contact issues and what should be common sense for any pool. Maybe there could be a simple paper hand-out available at the entry to the pool? It was difficult to find any pertinent water safety signs posted, rescue instructions, but the “social distance” guidelines are very ‘in your face.’

The hotel exceeded expectations and location was ideal. Breakfast was good and the dining room was exceptionally cozy. Loved the fireplace lounge. It gave that extra ambience. Well done

The pillows were much too thick and difficult to sleep comfortably. Additionally, the TV didn't work! The cable wasn't working. This was troublesome as we had looked forward to watching television.

Room wa great. Bigger than I expected. I loved that it had twk separate rooms which both had tvs. Staff was friendly. Hotel was quiet. Not like other hotels where you have noisy neighbors. The walk to the beach was literally 2 minutes and if you need anything there is a little market right on the corner by the beach. We even bought an umbrella and sandals from there! All the restaurants we went to were a 5 minute drive. Super covenient. The full size fridge was a plus as well.

I can't complain about anything.

Loved that the beach was just a two minute walk! Location was perfect plenty of parking and it was nice and quiet here. I loved breakfast, has a good verity food like boiled eggs, waffle stations and oatmeal. Also loved the pool area and the picnic area was pretty relaxing as well.

The coffee could be better but maybe just bring your own to make.

Clean, safe motel a block from arguably the nicest beach in the area, at a very good value compared to other local options. Nothing fancy, but great for a getaway with kids and much nicer location than the hotels at the boardwalk. Good to have a suite with kitchen at a reasonable price.

The pool’s shallowest part is 3”6’ so it didn’t work for my young children.
