Motel 6-Mammoth Lakes, CA

Mammoth Lakes Motel 6 manager Dennis was fantastic. When we arrived, the motel was having a bad day because one of the cable TV lines to an entire block of rooms had stopped working (not Motel 6's fault, just one of those fluke things); and on top of that their digital check-in system was not working correctly (again just a technical fluke, not the accommodation's fault). This affected my reservation in that I couldn't be checked into a premium room that I had booked (premium rooms come with kitchen facilities that are invaluable when travelling with children). Dennis tried to get the digital system to work, then he called booking.com twice to see if they could find me alternative accommodation of a similar standard. (The first time the call was cut off, the second time booking.com reached the conclusion that they were unable to help me.) After that, Dennis got creative and worked with his team to convert one of the standard rooms into a premium room by adding the kitchen facilities I needed. He then also gave me a voucher for a future complimentary night's stay. So not only did Dennis manage to fulfill my original booking, he then gave me something awesome on top of it! I couldn't be happier with how he resolved the situation. The room itself was great: spotlessly clean, warm, piping hot water, everything worked, and very comfortable beds with super soft pillows.

Clean and comfortable, friendly staff. Teeny tiny rooms did have some extra storage built in under beds.

What’s up with the air-temp hot water? Its not fun to come out of the shower shivering. The thermostat was ancient and didn’t really work. Rooms were tiny and there was no fridge (there was no microwave or coffee maker either, but these were provided in the office). The price for these rooms didn’t really make sense considering all of this, even though the rooms were clean and comfortable.

generally clean most of the in-room amenities were working as intended sufficient power outlets and usb ports for common gadgets

floor was a bit gritty and sandy (not the housekeeper's issue; the property needs to provide the housekeeper with properly functioning vacuum cleaner to do the job) hair dryer was broken Airconditioning control didn't seem to be working

Due to circumstances no breakfast however the coffee was excellent & available every morning.

The newly renovated room was so perfect for us including our pet. The location has grass for the pets & pet poop bags are included. During the time we were there the ladies in the front were more than helpful & always pleasant. Special recognition to; Tania, Mim & Mayra. These ladies ALWAYS went above & beyond EVERY DAY

Friendly and helpful reception staff, rooms are small but exceptionally well designed and appointed, clean room and comfortable beds, good location between downtown and recreational activities

Price is steep for a Motel 6, but still the best deal in Mammoth. No shampoo or moisturizer, but they have to cut somewhere. Cooling & heating was a guessing game with the thermostat that didn't have specific temperatures. Walls are thin.

We have had such bad experiences with Motel6, that we never wanted to stay at one anymore. Unfortunately, we had to compromise and stay at the Motel6 in Mammoth because that was the most affordable option when we decided to book our trip (very close to our departure date, so everything was booked or insanely expensive). We were all pleasantly surprised by this Motel6. The room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. The heater worked perfectly and was not too noisy. The bathroom seemed recently renovated and the water pressure was amazing! Staff was kind and helped us whenever needed. Motel6 always has the positive side of having free parking and allow pets for free too. The bus shuttle was 1 minute walking distance, a few breakfast/lunch/dinner options within walking distance too and Mammoth Village about 15 minutes walking.

The size of the room was very small and the fact that we could hear the guests upstairs stomping.

The rooms are quite small but clean and functional. They had free coffee in the lobby that was hot and replenished regularly.

Would have liked a thicker duvet for the bed since it was very cold out and the room was a little drafty. The thermostats are a bit touchy. It was hard to keep the room at the perfect sleep temperature. There is no covered parking so you might have to dig your car out in the winter if it snows but I did see shovels around that you could use.

We loved this place. Perfect for a couple, though there are two queen-size beds. Cozy, with cable TV built into the wall with 2 HBO channels, a mini-fridge with large freezer, ironing board & iron, hair-dryer in the wall next to the sink, good-sized table with booth-like lounge chair built into wall plus one chair, 7 clothes hangars built into wall, micro-wave and good sized tub/shower. And a coffee pot with all the fixings. This place is DOG FRIENDLY, with areas set aside for them to poop with doggy-bag dispenser. The Post Office is next door, usually empty, so plenty of room to walk fido. Directly across the street, there are many shops and places to eat, but you could literally just stay in your room for all your meals. Cool staff and reasonable rates make this a place I would gladly return to. And we are from Maui, so we know the vacation industry well. This more than met our expectations. Steve & Chrissy Lysen

Maybe a hot tub on premises, especially during ski season.

The rooms are fully remodeled. Bed where comfortable and towels were super white. Housekeeping ladies were on top of it. I asked for extra towels, and I got them immediately. I loved that they are pet friendly.

I wish they had a little courtyard. We were exhausted after a day of hiking and would have loved to enjoy our dinner that we just ordered to go outside. The outside of the building could use a face-lift.

I love this Motel 6!!! I've been here several times over past few years. Great reception....Dave was so friendly and helpful concerning my room. We talked about Alaska!!! Great room as usual as in all the Motel 6's.....and always great people at the reception. Clean room.....great location in Mammoth Lakes....quiet calm area.....Motel 6 Mammoth Lakes is my go to place!!!! I also love meeting people here who are hiking the PCT Pacific Crest Trail.....lots of them come here to rest up to continue their 2,600 mile trek!!!
