El Rancho Motel

We loved the location and the fact that is was a small motel. We didn't see many guests and they were all quiet. They have 2 very nice sitting areas. When the weather was good we used them. The water pressure and heat were both good in the shower. The cleaning crew was good. The space was a bit small for 2 beds, but there was a nice closet and dresser. They had an iron/iron board and blow dryer available as well as beach towels and different size phone cases for the water. The frig was a great size and the microwave worked well. Our room was on the end, so you could hear the traffic which didn't bother us, but may bother others. Between opening the door or window and the ceiling fan, the temperature in the room was comfortable. The motel was a 2 block walk one way to many restaurants and a 5/6 block walk to others. The beach about 1 mile.

The biggest issue we had was the wifi. It was in and out all the time. That became frustrating as we were there several days. There is a coffee maker, but I was left with 2 decaf coffees and only 1 caffeinated one which I didn't like. I was able to text the person in charge, but it would have been nice to have someone on site. The "ice machines" were ok, but if you really needed ice, you would have needed to go out and buy some.

I like the keyless entry. I’d like that there was a little fridge and microwave in the room. I like that they were extra blankets. The bathroom fan was great and so is the water pressure. The room was very clean.

I was in room eight it was very clean and cute! The only thing that that room needs are black out curtains and a new little coffee machine. The coffee machine needs to be replaced.

We were able to park the car and walk to both sides of the island (bay side and Ferry Landing; and ocean side and Hotel Del Coronado). We walked to the ferry and went over to downtown San Diego and walked to enough attractions to fill a day and evening, then back to the ferry. On return, the patio seating area out on Orange Ave is awesome. The room had an island hut vibe to it. Convenient check-in and check-out. Groceries within walking distance allowed us to pit the lottle refrigerator to use. Good stay!

Turning on the bathroom light also turns on the (exhaust) vent. It's a little much if you don't want that additional noise everytime you go in the bathroom. That's about it if I must say. The stay at El Rancho is one that I would do again.

I stayed at the El Rancho Motel for 4 nights and I would gladly recommend this facility to anyone who is in the area. I will absolutely be staying here again! My stay on Coronado was actually for an event at the Convention Center across the harbor in San Diego - this motel was within walking distance to the ferry terminal, many restaurants, a market, and some local shops. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were clean, and overall it was a lovely place to stay. Additionally, the front desk staff was very friendly and had my room prepared well in advance of my arrival. I was able to check in early which I was very grateful for as my flight came in earlier in the day. Lastly, this location is close to the airport and easy to find - about a 15 minute car ride. It is also close to the convention center - about a 10 minute car ride. All of this makes this a prime location if you want something laid back and with great value and location.

My only complaint about this is the shower. I'm only about 5'3" but the shower heads are located very high up. The shower head also did not have much room to adjust and at its current height sprayed directly into my face if I didn't stand on my tip toes the whole time. Not a deal breaker, but having the shower head be at least slightly more adjustable would be great :) One other thing to keep in mind is this is located right off of a busy road so there is quite a bit of traffic sound. I didn't mind it personally but it could be obnoxious to a light sleeper.

Appreciated the personal texts and excellent communication for our late arrival after a 10 hour drive! It was cute, comfy, clean and well stocked, the porch and patio were pleasant, LOVED the pink flamingos! We WALKED everywhere we needed to go.

Not complaints. The door hit the bed, it was a bit crowded. We were FINE, but I cannot image 4 ADULTS in this room. Maybe leave a few wine glasses? And LOL, toooo many mirrors in the bathroom (maybe some privacy film on small shower / sink side?)

Everything was clean, although the room was smaller it served its purpose. Short walk to the pier and shopping and 3 minutes from base! Short drive to the beach! Parking right in front, everyone was friendly. The patio was awesome. Clean and Safe area.

The room was a little small but no complaints there. We were going on a tiger cruise so we had to be up early and the traffic was busy. Occasionally we were woken up by loud cars and motorcycles.. but even with this we would definitely stay again!

Location to the beach/shops; parking was easier than anticipated; text from management of the day of arrival detailing everything we’d need to know for our stay; minimal staff interaction/automated stay; and price for what we received— nicely decorated room with everything we’d need! Our room was spacious enough to set up our son’s pack n play and have all our stuff out simultaneously.

The bed was a little firm and was advertised as a queen but was most likely a full.

So cute, comfy, and clean. We look forward to staying again. The staff were all very friendly. Thought parking was going to be an issue but we never had any issues. El Rancho has places outside to eat and relax when we felt cramped as a family of five. Everything was stocked in the office to take when we needed a place to wash the sand off your feet. Close to the beach and shopping centers. We loved this little place.

This place is very darling. It's well located for walking to either the ferry or the shopping/dining district. We loved sitting on the patio and playing a board game. Beds are firm, everything is very clean and cute, and it was low key and quiet in our room.

Very much air freshener/fabreeze or something like that was overwhelming and the windows don't have screens so we couldn't air the place out without getting lots of mosquitos.
