1. The immediate personal tour with Bill, followed by wonderful hospitality 2. The pool room where my kids and I could enjoy some games together 3. The guests and staff all treated us like family. The good kind not the kind you block and will only speak to on a holiday. 4. The room was spacious and clean. 5 last but not least, there was a lovely complimentary breakfast that we got to enjoy that was light but easy and enjoyable. Many thanks to the staff and visitors that made our stay so amazing!

A small desk or table in the room would probably be nice. But we decided to use the pool room bar area to eat our food instead of locking ourselves in our room. And everyone was welcoming and delightful!

We absolutely loved the hotel in and of itself. It was so fun to explore all the rooms in the hotel, play some pool, hang out with locals at the bar downstairs, and just get away from the city for a while. Overall though, we loved the history, the culture, and the ambiance of the hotel. The balcony views over the valley were absolutely stunning!

The breakfast was definitely lacking. We were thinking that there would be a hot breakfast when it said breakfast included, but unfortunately, it was a hard-boiled egg, a granola bar, and a bottle of water or orange juice. I understand COVID changed many things, but this was unfortunately not up to par with a hotel of this reputation and stature. The location was a smidge tough to get to if you don't drive a car as the hill up from town is extremely steep, so I would recommend taking the in-town shuttle. If you have any health issues, I would definitely recommend not walking back to the hotel if you walk into town.

Friendly staff, quaint rooms. The room was very clean and comfortable right down to the bottled water and treats in the room. Breakfast was continental with guests picking their items in advance and finding their order in the morning in the dining room. Would definitely stay again and recommend it.

Only drawback is we were only asked for our meal choice for day 1 of our two day stay so missed breakfast the second day. Also on our arrival we asked the desk clerk about dinner options and he told us there was only one place he would recommend. I would have thought in a town like this there would be more options.

Such a beautiful historic hotel overlooking the small mining town of Cripple Creek. We had a very warm welcome from Bill who checked us in, then poured us a couple of pints in the bar called the boiler room. Bill was very informative about the history of the hotel and the surrounding area. The hotel and our room was very clean. Its a very quiet place so we had a wonderful night sleep. The hotel also offers a basic breakfast. The hotel also sells and displays art from local artists and has a separate room from the bar where you can play pool or pick up the guitar and have a strum.

all good nothing that I didn't like.

What a cool, old building with lots of history! The atmosphere and ambience were great! Exactly what we were looking for! Felt like we were back in the Turn of the Century days of the late 1800's, early 1900's. We will go back again and again!!! Hotel St. Nicholas IS the Cripple Creek we remember and love from 50+ years ago. Rooms are beautiful, clean, and staff is wonderful, They also have a tavern, sauna, continental breakfast and ghosts! Loved it!!!!!

We know the Hotel St. Nicholas is haunted, but we, unfortunately, didn't meet any of the spirits with this visit. Rats!

If I could give this place a more than 10 rating , I would have the staff is friendly. There’s some cool history it’s got it’s a little bar that is cool they have great dreams, friendly service, friendly locals! recommend it 100 out of 100.

The hill it’s on is pretty steep that’s another hotel fault you can just get a shuttle up and down

The property has been renovated nicely since my last stay, around ten years ago; rooms were decorated in unique patterns and colors which added a nice ambiance. Love all of the art displayed in common areas; especially the recycled glass mosaics!

Very limited choice of breakfast options; could only pick ONE item from a list that included juices, water, bagels or muffins.

The continental breakfast- fruit, choice of bread, coffee, water, juice, boiled egg, was adequate-nothing special. During booking it wasn't even crystal clear that breakfast was included so my expectations were low anyway. Check-in was interestingly informal being that there was Brad who is the jack-of-all-trades. Brad is also the bar tender (interesting bar) along with Bill and is the building maintenance as well. Each room is different but comfortable with clean bathrooms. We had rooms 9 and 14. Location is 2 blocks from Cripple Creek's main thoroughfare, Bennett Ave, however Cripple Creek is very hilly and the walk up from Bennett to the hotel will test what kind of shape you are in. There are very reasonable shuttles that run on Bennett that will take you back to the hotel- especially at night. The hotel is different and has history (1898?, started out as a hospital)- frankly the hotel was the most interesting part of our stay in the old mining town.

If you're looking for a modern hotel with all the bells and whistles- this ain't it. The only thing that I wished to have had was ice for my morning juice- everything else was fine. And probably if I asked for ice Bill would have obliged.

The Hotel St. Nicholas is a beautiful, luxurious Victorian hotel with excellent amenities including in-room coffee pods, Perrier water and cookies. The King suite has a beautiful large clawfoot bathtub that includes a shower for a nice relaxing soak after a day of sightseeing! During my stay the hosts were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was perfect. Truly enjoyed and appreciated my time spent at the property.
