Red Lion Hotel Boise Downtowner

The room was really nice, very spacious and had a balcony. Right downtown so in a good location.

Breakfast was not very good, but had more options than most hotels. I am still giving this hotel a good review even though they were put in a bad situation when their A/C stopped working. It was miserably hot in the entire hotel. I hardly slept at all the one night I stayed. The only thing that saved my sanity was they gave me a floor fan to take to my room. I'm keeping this review high though because if the A/C had been working then I would definitely choose this hotel again due to the price and nice room. If they raise the price with working A/C then it would depend on how much they raise it as to whether I'd still consider this a bargain for the price.

You can reach downtown in just 10 minutes by bus from the hotel, and it is at a walkable distance of less than 20 from the very center of the city. Besides, the hotel has a very nice swimming pool + hot tub combo that has made my day when coming back in the evening after walking + sightseeing or working. But, what I have really appreciated is the kindness of the girls at reception. They have been nice, attentive and very reachable at all times.

We were in town for the basketball tournament and it was less than a mile away and easy to get to. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our beds were comfortable and everything worked as it should. It suited our needs and was a good value.

The property was a bit dated, but our room had been updated. There wasn't enough staff available in the breakfast area and the poor lady couldn't keep up with cleaning and restocking. The coffee bar was usually a mess since people can't seem to clean up after themselves.

The Hotel was great and the staff were friendly. Breakfast well setup and offered alot of varieties each day. Becky who not only checked us in but does the breakfast was very friendly and made like a great impression. Even the cleaning staff was pleasant and helpful.

That there are not more dining places around the hotel within walking distance. Unfortunately, probably due to Covid the bar / restaurant is closed down but you are welcomed to bring in your own food and relax in there.

The room and bed was very nice and cozy. The bathroom and shower was nice, I also liked the private deck. The breakfast was one of my favorite - great food! The hotel was conveniently located near downtown and just a couple minute drive away from all amenities.

The air conditioning fan in my room made a fast clicking noise when turned on medium and low, I had to leave it on high to eliminate the clicking. Not a major deal but the parking lot has cherry blossom trees that shed thousands of pedals that got all over my car, but they blew off once I got on the road.

We ran into some.issues when we arrived such as a battery missing from the TV remote and the control box for.the TV was disconnected. But, the staff was very quick to remedy both issues with a smile on their faces as well as being apologetic concerning those issues. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of food! It is an older hotel, but the staff is doing things right as they have a bright attitude and wanting for their guests to enjoy their stay! I would definately stay there again as well as to recommend to others!

Ensure that you turn on the fan as it is not automatic for heating and cooling the room.

Sarah was at the front desk when we checked in….I love being greeted and made to feel welcome when checking in! She is amazing and took the time to give us breakfast hours pool hours etc as well as direct us to our room! We needed a fan and she was quick and friendly while accommodating our extra request. Check out was quick and simple with friendly faces every time we were in the lobby. The room was clean and fresh and the beds comfy! We will definitely stay again on our next trip to Boise!

The staff was amazing and they were the highlight. Also, liked that it is PET FRIENDLY so that was fantastic. Let's just say that the hotel could use a major update. The breakfast room was nice enough and again staff was great. The bed was nice but not even a mattress cover under the sheets. Missing light bulbs in bathroom. Stained pictures in bath. Just really tired.

The elevators were old, the furniture super old, smells old and I booked an "upgrade" with a balcony and I got a room overlooking the roof and a parking lot with a tiny balcony. They nicely changed my room to the other side with a slider but the major road was there so you couldn't open it without all the traffic noise. They stated it was the Downtowner but it's not really downtown Boise although not far but it wasn't walkable.

The staff, front desk, maintenance, housekeeping were super friendly and responsive to our issues. They are working with a stacked deck, the facility itself is past due, way past due for some upgrades.

The property is in rough shape, our keys demagnitized every time we left the building. The carpet in the halls are so buckled they are a tripping hazard for us folks on crutches or a cane. The pool furniture is beyond repair and are not safe.

The location was perfect. We are meeting friends in the morning nearby. It was also great to be able to get there close to 10 PM after a very long drive and be greeted by the very kind and competent front office staff. I cannot remember her name, but she was terrific. We had a lot of questions and she was really helpful. She also had a lot of empathy along with efficiency which I appreciated. perhaps you could please thank her for us - she is finishing beautician school and works the evening shift. Give her all our best.

older hotels definitely need maintenance. There was some wear and tear in the bathroom, particularly on the floor, baseboard, and bathroom door. I believe our room was number 348 but I’m not sure. We were at the end of the hallway on the third floor, on the left facing the end of the hallway.
