Embassy Suites Des Moines Downtown

I’ve stayed at Hilton facilities before, and true to form, was not disappointed this time either. The three of us have been friends for about 50 years and started getting together about 25 years ago, and agreed this was one of the better trips we’ve had and also one of the better hotels we’ve used. Breakfast was only rated good due to not having freshly cook options but it was certainly adequate. And the cocktail hour is always a bonus. Not a fan of the prepackaged snacks, but all-in-all, adequate. Will return in the future.

Our room was showing its age and housekeeping was not performed each day due to staffing shortages. We missed having any glasses in the room, only 2 coffee cups for the 3 of us. Yes we could have asked for these items but it really wasn’t that important. “Don’t sweat the small stuff!.” but you asked.

Love the location. Wife and I got cleaned up and went for a stroll downtown to eat at Splash for a belated anniversary dinner, then walked around the rotunda at the river for some sight seeing. The breakfast and coffee in the lounge was hearty and up to par. I thought the rooftop lawn was really cool!

This is just a personal thing, but I wasn’t a fan of the carpets. Maybe it’s a sensory thing, but I think hotels are better off with LVF flooring. Much easier to see/feel when it’s clean. Parking was also a little weird since the hotel’s garage was full, but not a huge inconvenience. Didn’t love the coffee provided in the room.

The kids running around the floor like it was a race track at Midnight. The adult movie being filmed on the floor above. All the actors were standing outside the room on the balcony waiting for there "scene". I would not of noticed them but they were vocal about what they were doing. There outfits were jaw dropping. At first I thought they were part of the Birthday murder mystery dinner down stairs. The "cast" were at breakfast the next morning and they looked like moms and dads that were there for the basketball tournament. Who would of thought that this happened in Iowa. The adult movie stuff is all a lie.

I like that it was more adult friendly. Usually when I go to hotels there is a lot of kids and not really enough for adults to do. I lived the complementary drinks they had and the treatment when we had when we had questions. They even gave me and the family little goodie bags which was really nice. I love that the pool was open til midnight and there was adult swim for about an hour which is nice so that you don’t have to move around kids

I wish there was a hot tub for some of the adults to relax. Or even maybe a big tub in some of the rooms.

We stayed for a family mini vacation that was planned! We also weathered the snow storm. We enjoyed the comfort of being able to move around the spacious hotel with our children doing kartwheels and no negative looks! The waterfall inside was relaxing! Happy hour and snacks were a hit and breakfast was top notch! We would certainly stay there again!

The elevator speaker when saying going down sounded like it said going dead.....which we all heard and looked at each other I shock since our room was on the 8th floor! We survived every trip up and down lol!

Breakfast was fresh and out. Lots of varity.

They don't clean the rooms everyday. Unless you request it. There was some difficulty in checking in because we booked with booking they were questioning the rate but it all got settled when the front desk called booking and confirmed the rate. Also I booked a balcony room thinking it was it was an outside balcony but there is no balcony rooms there..

The rooms at this place are awesome! Very comfortable, everything works, and all the little amenities. Very quiet and restful. The hotel is set up with a large atrium in the middle with a water fall so when you step out of you room in the morning all you hear is peaceful water! No traffic or other noise. I love this place and try to come back every winter for a little getaway.

There is usually an awesome breakfast buffet but they don't do that anymore (probably because of the covid). The 'grab and go' lunches are adequate but no substitute for what they used to have. There is no mention of that on the property listing which was a disappointment.

We spent Thanksgiving weekend at Embassy Suites, converging with family from another city. The rooms easily accommodated our board games and conversational groupings. We loved meeting for a daily hot breakfast and complimentary happy hour in the common area. The hotel was well situated for daily walks along the river and a tour of the capitol. We also appreciated the local photos decorating the rooms. Despite a busy weekend, the sleeping quarters were quiet and the staff went above-and-beyond to serve us.

Everyone was friendly and helpful. The facility was pretty. And even though there was a lot going on it was well managed! Brefast was fabulous and the woman making omlettes was so busy yet chatted with everyone with a smile.

I was in room 212. The shower curtain was moldy. With black spots all over it. It should be removed and bleached. The beds are very old and sagging in the middle so they kinda make a V. There was a mechanical rattling the closet that was constant.

room was nice. liked the separate living room. breakfast was good but not refilled quite quickly enough. we didn’t get biscuits, gravy. got one sausage each. The oatmeal was great.

even though we loved the room, the shower was awful. there was missing grout and black colored mold in about 25% of the grout and soap dish.
