Hotel Pommier Indianola

The staff were nice, polite. I loved the digital locks instead of regular keys. I tend to lose the keys or lock myself out, and also this just felt more secure having your own door code to memorize. The room was spacious and bed comfortable. They had a regular size luggage rack (I hate the small ones). The refrigerator was a little larger than just a small one, so that was nice. The lighting in the room was adequate! Low lighting gives me headaches and eye problems...so I loved adequate lighting The hotel was easy to work with too.

The Price was quite high and when I arrived they added a steep security deposit. My budget as a retired woman is meager, so it was difficult (esp the added security deposit which I received no warning about). However for what I paid, I did feel I got my money's worth, since I had a restful and pleasant stay.

Room was very quiet. I loved that the window OPENED!!!!! to get fresh air, even if it meant I could hear the McDonald's drive through next door. Also loved the cardless entry to my room - I had a code to put in instead of a keycard. Beds were very comfortable. The hotel had been recently refurbished, possibly with the name change.

No elevator! I had a recent hip injury, and was given a room on the 2nd floor, no possibility of change. It was very difficult to manage the stairs. Breakfast could have had more variety of fresh fruit and yogurt. The robot pancake maker was cute but it took a minute to put out 2 tiny pancakes.

Clean bedding, Space, Desk available, Stocked soap for washing hands, Make up remover was very nice to have on hand. I loved being able to control the temperature of the room. Keeping it cool. The front desk was very friendly.

The towels were not soft at all. Very cheap and rough to the skin. I wish the quality was a bit better. The toilet didn't have water pressure to flush very well. Had to fill up the ice bucket with water to drop in the tank to flush.

I was very excited to see they have a treadmill on site in the fitness center. It was like new, safe and clean, helped me stay on track with my fitness journey. I loved the corn pic on the wall in my room.

Wish they also included in your room a small bar of Dove soap. They do stock liquid soap and lotion in bulk in containers attached to the wall. However, having a bar of soap is always a go to.

The night staff ! They had no one on duty past 11p-front door was only accessible with a code and the number to call to check in ,she answered didn’t explain who she was ,said the manager was gone and then wanted our name and number instead of the person at the door trying to check in ! It was nuts

I had stayed at the Apple Tree Inn five or six times in the past, for my annual visits to performances by Des Moines Metro Opera. It was a good price and convenient location. But the rooms were shabby without being chic in any way. The 16 months since my last booking were used to make many improvements and upgrades that merit the new name. A large reception and lounge area, a clean breakfast room, and completely redone rooms were a grand surprise. The new shower haead are much better in every way than the old low-flow ones. The manager--son of the busy owners--is affable, informative and helpful and has selected and trained the staff well. I expect to return in 2022.

We were contacted before our arrival to see if we required anything additional for our stay. The fact that they use liquid dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and soap is nice for the environment and to keep costs low.

We couldn't keep the room cooler. We keep having to get up in the middle of the night to turn down the ac. Of course it didn't take long to cool down. I'm sure that not having trash can liners helps cut costs, but it felt wrong to put trash in with out one.

We liked our spacious King room. It was close to the entrance and quiet. The location was close to Simpson College, where we had tickets for the operas.

Breakfast was basic, but that is probably due to the restriction of Covid-19. Everything was in good order and clean.

The bathroom was small, not much room to turn around in. Hit my head on the door trying to get off the toilet.

0Other than the bathroom, the room was a delight. Breakfast was amazing. The room was comfortable. Because the staff emailed me about no elevator, i had requested a ground floor room. With RA, I can't do steps. They gave me the room closest to the door, it was quiet.

I always love the pancake maker. I eat so many of those. And it was very clean, when the pancake batter went out, the employee got straight up and changed it for us!!!
