Bar Harbor Grand Hotel

After we wrapped up in Kennebunkport, we travelled up further North to Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor is a beautiful resort town located on Mount Desert Island, which is also the home of the stunning Acadia National Park. We arrived into Bar Harbor just before 16.00 and checked into our home for the next three nights, The Bar Harbor Grand Hotel. The Grand Hotel is a replica of the much older Rodick House and has an older worldly charm to it. Location wise its right on main street and a less than five minute walk will get you to the towns Green. The interior of the building has a classic hotel feel to it, which some modern add on’s such as swipe cards for entry to the rooms. We found the bedrooms to be very spacious and comfortable. The beds especially were the comfiest we stayed in on our two week road trip. The bathroom was fantastic too, with a room size mirror and a nice deep bath and shower combination for a relaxing dip after a long day of exploring the local area. We included breakfast in our stay and we found it to be very tasty. The coffee was strong and there seemed to be a constant flux of the items on offer day to day which I enjoyed. Also due to its location the hotel is very quiet, as its just out of the town centre enough to provide pure quietness when trying to sleep. Finally the staff at the hotel were all very friendly and professional down to the last team member and we felt very welcomed during our time there.

We loved the staff's kindness and excitement for us as we were there to elope. The location was perfect, just steps away from great restaurants, shops, and beautiful sightseeing spots. The room was beautiful, clean, and beyond comfortable. There was always hot chocolate, tea, and coffee available which we really enjoyed.

The breakfast was pretty pastry/waffle/toast heavy with minimal hot options, so we did opt to eat at local restaurants for breakfast the rest of our stay. This was, in no way, a major issue for us and the breakfast room was always packed so it seems most enjoy the options available.

We enjoyed the thoughtfulness and deliciousness of the breakfast. There were popular options for everyone, from gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan. We loved the restaurant, the full-buffet feel of the breakfast! We also received excellent recommendations from the staff for what to do on a rainy day in Bar Harbor, and despite the weather, had a wonderful day! The hotel was very clean and updated without losing the old-country feel of an old hotel. We absolutely loved it and cant wait to be back!

There is not much that we did not like - I wish the hot tub had been open in November! It was chilly and gray out, so it would have added a fun activity for early hiking days when the sun is setting way earlier than high peak part of the season.

Staff was exceptional in all aspects. Location, although on the main street, is just far enough away from the noisy areas but a short walk away to enjoy them. Some breakfast items changed each morning and, although not exceptional, they gave me what I needed to power through the morning and afternoon to hike through Acadia. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The laundry room was perfect as I packed for colder weather but it was warmer than expected so I was able to wash my shorts and tees to get me through my stay. Did I mention the staff was exceptionally kind, courteous, helpful and caring of how your stay was going?

Breakfast was good but I prefer eggs each morning rather than waffles and french toast. Although hard boiled eggs were available each morning they were cold and I prefer warm. A selection of fresh local baked goods would have been awesome. As for the room the only thing I would've liked is the fridge was turned on its highest setting rather than lowest so it didn't take 24 hours to chill my beverages to my liking upon arrival. With that said the hotel does offer frosted mugs upon request. These are all really minor things but you asked. Hotel was great!

This hotel was the perfect location for our visit to Bar Harbor and Acadia national park. It was a short walk from the many food/drink/shopping options in Bar Harbor, and has it's own private parking lot. This makes getting in/out of the property very easy. And because it is a few blocks away from the busiest streets noise was never an issue. The room and beds were clean, and breakfast was good (think standard chain hotel complementary breakfast). Lobby had hot coffee and tea available 24 hours, and the room had a refrigerator. Self-service laundry room with complementary detergent and distance to Acadia National Park make this a perfect place to stay if you are visiting the park and don't want to pay to stay at a waterfront property. There wasn't and view to speak of from the hotel, but that was fine since we spent very little time in the hotel.

I loved this property!! clean, beautiful, friendly staff and an amazing breakfast. Kara at the front desk was so kind and helpful. Everyone at the hotel.. all of them from housekeeping to cooks..to front desk managers… awesome. Highly recommend. It’s not waterfront however easily accessible with a short walk. Located on Main Street so easy access to shops, food, etc. Entrance to Acadia close by ( I’m guessing less than 3 miles) .

We regret that there was so many plastic ustensiles used for breakfast. Also there is no waste sorting : everything is put altogether in the unique bin after customer have finished their breakfast. Why not simply use washable items which would be more substainable and classy ?

This hotel was perfect- tucked out of the MAIN MAIN part of town but still close enough to restaurants and shopping. Only a 5-10 minute walk to EVERYTHING and parking is including- SUCH a bonus for this small town! They even give you parking for the WHOLE day on your last day so if you have a whale watching tour or something booked you don’t have to scramble to find parking! 1000/10 would recommend and will stay here again!

I loved the décor, the location, the staff, the breakfast, the water bar, the water bottle station, the stuffed animals for the kids, and the shower.

I am very particular about my sheets and pillows. I found the bed very comfortable, but in a perfect world, I would have liked cozier sheets, maybe more extra pillows, and an additional extra blanket in the room. However, I think most people would be very happy with what you have offered, it is very rare that I like the sheets in a hotel. My husband found the bed very comfy!

Located in heart of town. you could walk anywhere needed. room was clean and nice chairs to sit besides the bed and desk chair. Staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of area. would have stayed here longer if time had permitted. Breakfast and breakfast area was very nice….spacious and a nice variety of foods to choose from.

Beds were not as comfy as the rest of the room. nothing really to complain about but least thing we liked amongst all the things we did.
