Holiday Inn Express & Suites Boston - Cambridge, an IHG Hotel

Clean. Close to grocery & fast food. Awesome 4 story antique shop a couple blocks away. We loved the breakfast fitattas. Yum! Also the pancake machine. The staff was friendly, helpful, and hard working. Our room was very clean every day…we left a good tip for housekeepers. Love the tiny dove soap bar for handwashing & the bottles of dove in the shower. We will stay here again:).

I was hot the entire time. The air conditioning seemed to have a mind of its own & only ran on low. Also, housekeeping did not have any fans, which would have helped. The bacon was delicious, but undercooked for my taste every time. The elevators are crazy slow & one makes a loud clunk around the third floor. Could use some ventilation in the elevators.

The hotel has excellent location in terms of access to metro/subway Lechmere station which brings you to the downtown area or transfer to any of the other metro lines. It also has bus service to Harvard - which is also very convenient. The room was a standard Holiday Inn Express rooms - so no surprises there. Breakfast was excellent, as always. And there is a large supermarket nearby - if you need it.

Although not a big deal, the view we got was on the main road which has some construction sites and a lot of traffic. I presume the other side - overlooking the neighborhood would be more pleasant. The price was unexpectedly high - I guess it was the season, as all other hotels were within that range - this is just an advice if you can plan your trip around different dates.

We all liked the Room; very comfy for a party of Four (2 adults and two teenagers) Despite not having a pool or gym, the facility has a lovely dining area inviting guests to access the food and beverages easily! I didn't realize the express meant not a full hot breakfast. However, some days we got bacon and hashbrowns, which is a plus The housekeeping staff was great (A1), the room was always cleaned at the time we returned after all day of staying out The Kitchen/dining staff was also great (A1), their attitude was always happy, and even at rush hour we never missed any food/beverages

The front desk staff could be more service-oriented/communicative. We spent six days, and we passed through the front desk at least three times during the day (2 shifts), and not even one time we got greetings from the person at the front desk! The only feedback we got was whenever I greeted them.

The reception staff were excellent, particularly Tyler! They were all so friendly and helpful. We were there for the marathon and there were so many other runners there too. The room was bigger than expected and was quiet - we actually even heard birdsong in the mornings! The shower was massive and the room was really clean. It was less than 5 mins walk to Lechmere station and if you take the exit where you walk through the bus station it is really quick. You can actually see the hotel from the train platform. It is easy to get into town and to the airport from the hotel too. It was only a few stops from Park St where you could have a lovely walk through Boston Common and the Public Garden into town if you wanted to get outside! Breakfast changed every day and there was a decent choice. It is not gourmet, and there are paper plates and plastic forks, but when it is included in the price I can't complain. The hotel is on a main road and a very short walk to a bunch of shops like Marshalls and a supermarket to the left of the entrance. We also ordered pizza from Arams and collected it which was 3 mins walk away! It is on Cambridge St and there are a bunch of restaurants, coffee shops and even a bus that can take you to Harvard there. It is also a 15 min walk to a shopping mall near the station which had so many shops if that is your thing. If you are staying a few days I totally recommend you get the $22.50 Charlie Card to travel around. We used it on buses and trains and it made it so easy to travel around.

I liked it all. But, being marathon weekend the hotel was VERY expensive. But ALL hotels in Boston were expensive which is just how it is over that weekend. If I was being really picky, real plates and cutlery at breakfast would be great, but I can see how that adds to having to have someone clean them all rather than just throwing the paper plates and plastic forks away. But it would help the environment a bit!

It was great! Very fancy modern room, with a large TV, comfortable beds, nice shower and bathroom, as well as a minifridge and microwave. It had everything you could want in a hotel room. The complementary breakfast was always a great way to start off the day.

They did nothing wrong, all very good. I highly recommend this to anyone who wishes to have a nice stay in the Boston/Cambridge area. It is a short walk from the Green line station which makes public transportation around the city very easy.

This place had nice personnel, a somewhat basic but perfectly sufficient hot breakfast that was not crowded, good-quality toiletries in the bathroom, and a coffee machine with supplies refilled on daily basis in the room. The room was tidy and seemed like it has been renovated recently. There is a Blue Bikes station nearby, as well as a Green Line station, so it is easy to move around from here. There is a good selection of restaurants a couple of blocks away.

Small things I did not like: The hotel is located next to a quite busy road so at least I had to wear ear plugs in the nights to sleep well. There was no ceiling lamp in the room (just floor and wall lamps) and at least in my room the window side (where the desk was located) was cold, so the room was not ideal if you wish to work a lot with your laptop in there. This is just fine, though, if you plan to use your days seeing around.

The food here is very fresh and they provided coffee, tea, and juice all day. The room is big and nice. Everything is achievable for me. The printer is just downstairs by the front desk. I can print anytime. Thank you Holiday Inn.

I have the end room of the building. The Wi-Fi signal is not very steady. I need to go to the bathroom or downstairs to get a steady Wi-FI. I hope I will get a middle room next time.

The breakfast spread was great and would rotate daily. The location worked well and was close to both a bus stop and train stop, and could even get to the hotel from the airport for free with public transportation. The staff was friendly, and didn't have a single problem with any of them.

Had gym access but not in the building, had to walk to a plaza next door. Cleaning staff would always start knocking around 10 about cleaning, would have preferred if they waited until 11 but not really a big deal.

Conveniently located, no frills hotel. Tram stop (Green line, Lechmere) is around 5-10 minutes walking away, access via Uber/Taxi is easy. Located in Cambridge (just on the border), walking downtown or the other way to Harvard, takes around 45 minutes (though Science museum is close) . Behind the hotel is typical Cambridge, low rise houses and nice neighborhood, infront relatively busy road and not the nicest area to look at. Staff was friendly from the first contact, with good restaurant recommendations. Room (king bed + sofa on the 8th floor) was nicely sized, so was the bathroom. Plenty of electrical sockets and USB plugs available (even cord free charging on the alarm clock!). Coffee machine, microwave and empty fridge in the room! King bed was really comfortable, sofa bed (extended) a little bit less so. Breakfast included, with solid selection (though with little quality ingredients). Kudos to the fact that on the day of the marathon they started breakfast very early! Would certainly try to book it again next time for the Boston Marathon.

Price was inflated (as everywhere during the Boston Marathon) but rooms were at least available, so i cannot really comment the value/price. Hotel itself is OK, but a bit rundown/worn on edges (for example elevators). Although conveniently located, its also not in the nicest area of Cambridge. Rooms facing east are relatively loud (facing on a road), windows have little sound insulation. View east is on rundown buildings and tram line (i would ask/pay next time for a view towards west, where Cambridge is located).

Knowledgeable, helpful and friendly staff. Coffee was available throughout the day. Comfortable space available to do some work outside the room.

The door to our room was very sticky, i.e. you basically had to give it a good shove to open the door from the hallway. A shuttle bus to the mall and/or nearest station would have been helpful.
