Kimpton Marlowe, an IHG Hotel

Check-in was smooth, and the location is very convenient! There is a mall you can get to by walking underground so on freezing days, it was perfect! Breakfast at the restaurant downstairs is very good! Friendly staff! I wish the water pressure for the shower was a bit stronger, and that they have more drawers in the room to put clothes away, as my stay was for 5 days. Overall, I really like the vibe of the hotel!

I remember this hotel used to have an amazing breakfast, but on my first morning was told that "no breakfast is served. Instead, you can order and get it wrapped in a paper box" (like a fast-food... for $50...). Then, the next day, we did have breakfast, but... no coffee! "There is only decaf". What?? I'm jetlagged as hack, and I really need my espresso... not what I expected when paying $400 a night. Oh boy. And the cherry on the cake - no coffee in the room, and also no room-service at all! Come on dudes...

Good location in Cambridge, close to subway station to quickly get to the center of Boston. Very nice surroundings, river on one side and small pond on the other. View from my room on Boston panorama was exceptional. Hotel is joint to a shopping mall which is also a plus. Room was nice and comfortable!

I would expect more from the reception staff. A lot of hidden extra payments.

Fantastic staff, everyone we talked to was friendly and knowledgeable and efficient. The hotel had a fantastic ambiance, a location close to lots of restaurants and walkable areas and super close to downtown (if you're uber-ing or taking the train). We loved watching everyone's dogs in the lobby too! It really brightens the day (as a cat owner, we could have brought her, but she would not have made anyone's day by being grumpy and hiding in her carrier... so dogs have that going for them).

To be super picky, since we did have an overall delightful experience: tables in the common area were not cleaned, but then since there was no attendants, guests could have cleaned up after themselves... Overall, guests were kind of rude but staff was amazing. Our room's AC/Heating unit was very noisy, but I always travel with ear plugs, so they didn't bother me while I slept.

My room was spacious, including a generous clothes closet and ample drawer space. It was perfectly clean. The temperature control was precise.

The staff mishandled my reservation. I had to point out that the daily "amenities fee" was prepaid by booking.com. Otherwise they would've charged me. Also, that amenities charge is mandatory, even though you may not be interested in it. --Ironing board was missing from the room. Staff was very slow to bring one. -- The automatic, motion detecting light switch in the bathroom had to operated manually. Had to call staff for directions. --They graciously offer free coffee in the lobby, but if you step into the restaurant, coffee costs $3.

The room was great & I loved the toiletries in the bathroom! The property was very clean, the staff was friendly, & the room was extremely comfortable. I LOVE how dog-friendly the property is!! It’s also nice that there is a restaurant/bar on-site for dine-in or take-out (take-out for us due to the dog). The property is situated on a lovely park with great views of the Boston skyline; a beautiful morning jaunt with the pup.

Although nice, the front desk wasn’t run efficiently (especially to check-out). The parking situation is inconvenient. The lounge could be so cool but instead feels neglected because it isn’t staffed - it would be great if there was a bartender &/or someone to maintain the room. It also would be nice if there were garbage cans around the common areas. There is an ice machine on one floor of the building (told that there was an ice machine on two floors but one of them was broken), which was like a maze to find.

- Wonderful Design of the interior and the rooms - Superb location, 10 min Uber drive to key places in Boston/Cambridge - Very quiet/great view - Modern design in Rooms - Great Gym/ in room yoga mat - Received a nice gift for special occasion ( It was very pleasant) - Tea/coffee in the morning and wine hour in the afternoon were great!

- The water pressure in shower was terrible - The blanked was poor quality and will heat you up during the night (had poor sleep in the hotel all nights) - Room service wasn`t complete (shower gels, weren't replaced) - When requested appliances for the room it took too much time to bring it up and management made up an excuse that they couldn`t enter the room - The main disappointment was lacking of friendliness from the hotel staff, most of the times no one said hello when we came by front desk, and doorman almost never opened the door for us, but rushed outside whenever any care drove by

It’s very clean, well-maintained, has friendly staff, and is convenient to parking. The queen double room is generously sized.

There isn’t enough light in the room. the corner with the fridge cabinet has no light at all. It needs a standing lamp or recessed light or lamp on top. I resent the daily activity charge. That’s a not subtle way of charging more per night. Parking ticket only worked half the time. The other times we had to call for help while trying to exit the garage.

Modern and comfortable room. Good service. Decent location in Cambridge but with limited dining options right nearby, though the hotel is attached to a mall. Easy self-parking at a reasonable additional cost.

Did not appreciate the add-on -- required, not an option -- for something vague termed "amenities". Had a feeling of nickel and diming. Unexpected! Not clear what I could get to recoup other than drinking multiple glasses of red wine in the lobby. :-) Just add such "service fees" to the upfront cost of the room and keep the total cost transparent.

The Kimpton Marlowe is an excellent value. It's a convenient location as my daughter attends Tufts, so it's on the same side of The Charles River. The airport is only 15 minutes away depending on traffic. I love that they have rooms available with 2 queen beds, which is rare. Most hotels that offer two beds are generally doubles. They must have recently redone the hotel. I wasn't there for 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. There is a big TV in the room, which is nice.
