North Star Hotel Pictured Rocks

We loved nearly everything about this hotel! The standard of cleanliness and being updated is the best I have ever encountered in a hotel, even a high-end hotel in a metropolitan area. The rooms and their features were updated and in good condition. The bed was comfortable, with newer pillows and pristine white sheets and comforter. The bathroom was impeccably clean with well-draining tub and sink and great lighting. The room-based AC worked wonderfully and didn’t make the room feel damp. Breakfast was clean and expansive.

The property contained a lot of fussy micromanaging notes posted everywhere about everything from where you could have breakfast and coffee to how to operate your toilet. Also, the thermostat was set at 80+ degrees during the hot summer in hallways and common areas.

Located just outside of Munising so the rates reflect being adjacent to a tourist area. This same hotel located in any other random small town would be about 1/2 the price. It’s mid-range for hotels in that area. Keeping that in mind, there was nothing extraordinary about the hotel to warrant the higher price. Just the location. The room was clean and quiet. We had 2nd floor room overlooking the rear of the property- grass and trees- and we were able to keep the window open all night with no noise. That alone was worth it! The room itself was comfortable and clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast included hot eggs, sausage, gravy and biscuits. The staff was professional and a bit chilly. But pleasant enough.

Breakfast was hot, rooms were clean and staff was very friendly. The sauna was very nice, the bathrooms had plenty of towels and shower products. Lastly it’s also very close to the areas I was hoping to visit, just a 3 minute drive away.

There could have been some more amenities, such as there was no water fountains, and the vending machines were out of water bottles. The breakfast was filling but limited. Priceline listed they have a pool or “whirlpool” which turned out to be a hot tub or jacuzzi . Also the elevator is laughably small, capable of fitting four people maximum without belongings.

Reservation was made at the last minute as we didn't expect to stay in the Pictured Rock area. We were happy to get a reasonably priced room close to main street in Munising. The hotel exceeded our expectations! Staff was very friendly; the facility was very clean as was the room. And the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast, as are all free breakfasts in hotels, was to be expected. Watery coffee, powdered eggs, lots of sugary choices. Forgiving the breakfast our stay was very enjoyable! We do have to mention, if staying in Munising the restaurant choices are very minimal to say the least. If you want a hamburger, it's great.

The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We liked the reclining chair and decor. Breakfast was great for a continental breakfast. Staff were very friendly and professional.

There are signs everywhere telling you what not to do. It felt ridiculous-don’t take more food than you can eat. Eat only in the dining room, don’t take any food out of room etc. etc. The room was over $200.00 including tax. We realize that it is a short season, but the hotel has few amenities to support the nightly fee.

hotel was very clean comfy. the area is established and to be honest i expected to appearance to match the age of the property….far from it. exceeded my expectations!! i was very impressed the windows worked, paint was nicely done, floors were in great condition. spa and workout area was spotless!

more headroom in the shower…. surprises this could pass any local code. would have liked to have seen fresh fruit with the breakfast …..not a deal breaker though. rate was maybe a tad high but hard to complain overall.

The breakfast was good, the rooms were comfortable. I enjoyed the recliner in our room (though the bonded leather was in bad shape on the headrest). The room was very quiet and the room and overall hotel were extremely clean.

They are understaffed, so there is no one at the front desk most of the time. The wifi/Internet was just about non-existent. The wifi strength was good, then terrible, then gone, then good,… but even when good you often could not connect to it, and if you did, there was often no Internet connection. No one to complain to (see understaffing remark), and I’m sure they’d have no idea how to fix it in receiving a complaint. I generally had to disable wifi and rely on 2 bars of cell service to use my phone to find restaurants, etc.

Booked a night here last minute and were glad we did! The hot tub and sauna were a live-saver during an unexpected cold front. Room was clean, bed was comfortable with 4 pillows. Multiple breakfast options (bagels, mini muffins, waffles, cereal, fruit, yogurt, scrambled eggs, biscuits/gravy, breakfast sausages, etc). A few min drive outside Munising. Would stay again!

Shower was out of order in the whirlpool/sauna room!

The hotel is VERY clean. I own a professional cleaning company and was very pleased how clean this place is The beds & pillows were comfortable. Laundry on site. Great opinions for breakfast Sauna n whirlpool is a bonus and very clean. Staff was kind and very friendly. Also, it's so close to everything in town. This was a great find!

We liked everything

Room was very clean, spacious, and quiet. The in-room refrigerator was a good size and had a separate freezer. There was a pretty good selection of food at breakfast.

The shampoo/body wash dispenser in the shower dispensed a weird, lightweight foam that barely sudsed up and did not feel like it got you clean. (Thankfully, I brought my own toiletries). Husband said whirlpool spa was not plugged in, nor was the elliptical machine, so we did not use those amenities.
