I had stayed at the Monterey pre-renovation, so I knew the rooms would be spacious, but we weren't prepared for HOW spacious our King Room was. This was very welcome after a week on the road in fairly cramped lodging elsewhere. The room was also very clean, and the bed was comfortable. Overall, the upgrades were well worth it, and the price per night is reasonable for this level of accommodation.

Like sister motel El Vado around the corner, there is now an emphasis on the social space (read: bar) where the check-in used to be. This is ok, but does mean that sometimes when they have events you may have to scrap for a parking spot, which can be frustrating as a paying motel guest. Unlike El Vado, the public space is also not segregated at all from the motel space, so if your room is closer to the bar, you will likely not be able to get any meaningful rest until the event is over because it is just too noisy.

We were so excited to find a room that would fit our whole family! The family room had a queen bed, then a door to another room with 6 individual bunks, complete with electrical outlets, reading lights, cabinets for their stuff, and curtains on each bed that could be shut for privacy. Our 6 kids thought it was the coolest room they had ever stayed in. We also enjoyed the pool and outdoor areas. The motel was so cute and remodeled in such a fun mid-century modern style. When we got there we were pleasantly surprised to find out they offered one free drink per adult per night in the bar in the lounge. The motel has deals with a few local restaurants for easy delivery to your room, and it's walking distance to some cute little shops and restaurants as well. The staff was very helpful and friendly and eager to help out whenever we needed something.

Our only complaints were some very minor cleanliness issues - a few little dead bugs in the shower and some ants in the room.

We stayed here for 5 nights while in Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta and visiting friends in the area. This Route 66 era motel has been renovated recently and it now looks much more modern and nice. Room was clean and comfortable, lounge is nice, and the pool was open during our stay. Since it was Balloon Fiesta, it was fully booked and fairly pricey during our stay. Can walk next door to El Vado for food in the evenings. Great location near Old Town and BioPark attractions along historic Route 66.

Two things we'd suggest for improvement is 1.) having Do Not Disturb signs for doors as we were told there was no daily housekeeping service but housekeeping came in every day we weren't here anyway and 2.) There is hot coffee and water available in the lobby but there was often issues with coffee being out or not delivered yet and sometimes lobby was closed so I think that system could be improved But overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would stay here again.

We booked a family suite that included a queen room connected to a room designed for 4 individual bookings with 4 full sized bunk beds. Really cool room. The 4 bed room does not have a bathroom but there are full bathrooms down the way that lock and can be used. Towels and everything. This was great while traveling with 2 adult children! My youngest son (10) said this was the coolest motel he's ever stayed in. Probably true. Very cool and trendy place. Modern and attractive.

The bed was not made properly and there was no mattress pad/cover over the mattress 🤢 The sheet was not pulled down over the bottom of the mattress so my feet were on bare mattress! Yuck. I was tired and got over it. The shower head in our room needed some tightening. We just used it as a hand held. The pool apparently doesn't have hours, so there were people swimming at midnight. We had just gotten there but I can imagine it may have bothered others.

Room was clean and minimally but very stylishly appointed. Bed was super comfortable. Room lighting was some of the best we've seen in a hotel room. Loved the vintage vibe. Wish we could have checked out the pool but we didn't have time. Much more personality than a chain hotel. Also, we appreciated the bottled water in the room.

We were there on a Saturday night. Beginning about 6 pm, a DJ set up in the bar patio and starting blasting obnoxiously loud music, to an audience of none. Very annoying. We could hear it in our room with the door closed. Fortunately, he was gone by the time we came back from dinner and wanted to sleep. Also, our in-room coffee maker was the old pod type, and made weak coffee.

Authentic yet updated motel on Route 66 and we got a great deal for 1 night. Staff excellent. Super clean. We were in the modern section at the back overlooking the pool with a rear balcony - big room with super comfy bed and pillows. Excellent bar (thanks Hector) that indulged our choice of music. Close to Old Town and walking distance to 4 Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul locations (did others by car).

We would have stayed 2 nights if it fell in our budget but they were heavily booked and no deals 😞

The pool, the decoration of the room, and the ambiance were amazingly great! It all matched the 'old' Route 66 vibe :-)

The DJ music on two of the three nights was way too loud. One night we were sleeping directly across the terras, with the speakers pointing toward our room. The loud rap music kept booming into our room until late evening. I appreciate a nice party, but a Motel is used to take a rest for people passing through. In that case, I prefer a night's rest over a party night.

This is a super cute and comfortable motel with a reasonable rate even during the Balloon Fiesta. Newly remodeled, it is very cool! The rooms are beautiful, clean, and comfortable. We liked the mini fridge and the size of the room. There is a bar and a lot of outdoor seating where we enjoyed drinks made with New Mexican alcohol. The location is great. There is a coffee shop two minutes walk and some great breakfast places within a short walk. The historic downtown is within walking distance too.

The cons...the hot water in the shower is an issue. We were there for two nights. Out of 4 showers, one was hot, and the rest lukewarm at best. The last night we were there, our tv didn't work. They advertised a laundry room which was a considerable pro /deciding factor for us on a road trip, but it was out of order during our visit.

The room was perfect for what we needed. The set-up of the room was good and we liked that it had extra towels available in the room. The decor was very attractive. Fridge was perfect size for our needs.

The shower did not work for us. It was one of those set-ups where you can use it as a hand held or use it as a shower head and that portion was broken so we had to "MacGuyver" it so that we could use it as a shower head. Otherwise it didn't stay up and we had to keep adjusting it to use it. Also, it's one of those glass-in showers, no tub and there wasn't enough glass for the shower and the bathroom floor got soaked during each use. I think it was a design misstep for whoever redesigned this hotel unfortunately.

We stayed at this motel when it was under previous ownership. The rooms have been renovated and are amazing - decor is fresh and modern with lovely decorative touches and Route 66 pictures. Pool was great and surrounded by attractive metalwork with loungers and chairs - all very tasteful There was a bar with seating outside - ideal for relaxing with a drink Motel is in a very good location for the Old Town - only ten minutes walk

Not the motel’s fault and the staff were very helpful on this subject but the Old Town has become more dangerous since we last stayed. The Old Town is a no go area in the evening with the homeless and drug addicts taking over the area. I do hope that something can be done to help these unfortunate people .. It would also be great for both motels and tourists. Old Town is lovely but it seems like a Dracula film when you have to leave before darkness falls.
