Holiday Inn Express - Columbus Downtown, an IHG Hotel

I thought the hotel was over priced! But so amazing. Every worker we came in contact with was absolutely amazing including the housekeepers. We didn’t use housekeepers for our 4 night stay I tried keeping the room clean took out our own garbage and towels and got extras from the girls! Breakfast was good as well. Safe except for the homeless men lurking around the premises but when staff were alerted they took care of the situation real quick!

The price of the hotel and the added Ohio state tax which made the room a lot more money than expected

It was nice and quiet! Not a lot of city noise or noise from other guests. I loved the location - walkable neighborhood, but still can easily access my car and drive places. I loved being close to Antiques on High and The Book Loft, and Staufs Coffee - all were a few minutes' walk from the hotel and so worth going! The neighborhood itself is also charming. If we were there for longer, Kroger, Chipotle, First Watch all walkable as well. It's also a quick drive to other breweries and the arena district, which was where we frequented. This was perfect for a quick trip and affordable as well! I would choose to stay in this hotel the next time we visit Columbus.

The elevator is a little rough - we only took it twice our whole stay and it was when we were arriving and departing. It felt like it might break down on us. The doors to the rooms are also the slowest closing doors I've ever seen, and resist your push/pull closed. That to me was a major safety concern. There is also not a lot of parking onsite and we were not made aware of extra parking - we ended up street parking as we got back to the hotel after 10pm both nights we stayed. It was fine, but it was an extra worry and I wish we had been made aware of extra parking upon arrival.

The room was very neat/spacious and comfy. Having a frig and microwave gave us the comforts of eating in our room. The breakfast was very good/healthy. We took a walk and ate lunch close by and felt very safe. We were very close to the convention center and was able to ride the bus, instead of taking a taxi. The staff was very helpful in showing us the best places to visit and eat. Thank you so much again for making our stay so enjoyable. I would highly recommend staying here.

Great location. Parking right onsite. Breakfast is great. Very quiet, did not hear my neighbors or outside noises. Clean and cozy. Staff friendly.

The elevators were a little slow especially just being in the second floor but since I was on the second floor it was easy to use the steps. I was curious as to how the elevators require a key card but the doors to the stairs do not have the same security. It just made it seem pointless to have that security feature in place for the elevator when anyone could jsut use the stairs instead. This is a minor issue.

I really liked everything all the way around. staff was super friendly. It was a nice surprise that I was able to park right outside in the hotel parking lot for only 10 dollars a day. I did not want to have to deal with any parking garages and far walks to my room. the hotel was beautiful, clean, comfortable and extremely quiet!! I did not hear anything at all when inside my room. the breakfast was fresh and there was a nice variety for being included with the stay. this will definitely be my go to hotel for my future business trips to Columbus!

zero complaints, everything went above and beyond my expectations. it was hard to keep the room at a comfortable temp but that is really minor in comparison to how great the stay was and I was able to control and adjust the thermostat as needed.

The only dislike was the lack of parking, but I honestly can’t complain. I will Say that my husband and I needed the trip we took so badly and the hotel exceeded our expectations. We are in our mid-30’s with 3 children, but were able to be young again while we were in Columbus. The weather for early March was impeccable and unexpected. Instead of calling a Boring Uber to get around as we were drinking, we took advantage of the scooters; what a rush! Also, if you’re into Mexican, you must try arepazo tapas - - delish! The staff, especially the woman on the overnight desk on 3/4/21, was extremely kind and helpful. She made us feel so welcome both nights we were there. The room was great and was everything we needed. Thank you so much and give that woman a raise!! She’s such a sweetheart!

Parking was limited.

Whenever we come to Columbus, this is the hotel we aim to book. the staff is always pleasant, the hotel is always clean and the location is not too shabby. my only downside is it’s so far from the convention center, BUUUTTT I also enjoy riding scooters to get around, just like when we were kids. we will always enjoy this hotel and love the new manager, Lawrence as well.

The room was very clean and comfortable. It was located close enough to the things my daughter I wanted to do that it made things easier. The breakfast in the lobby area was absolutely delicious and made for a great start to each day. The outdoor heated pool looked very nice, but we forgot to pack our swimsuits.

The ice machine on our floor had been removed, so I had to go to another floor to get ice. The hot water in the shower took quite a while to get there, but once it did it was very nice.

location and overall condition

new employee that originally told us we only had one room and that they had no more rooms and since we booked with a third party it was our problem not theirs and to call you and basically there was nothing they could or would do. Finally I showed her the other name on the booking and she found the other name about the time we were about to leave the hotel and look for another place to stay.

i like the location , its in German village , easy to walk places and just a straight shot down to the convention center. also took the free shuttle . i also like the security measures that you must have a key after 8 to get on the elevator and after 9 to even get in the hotel.

the rooms are redone and great, the hotel is older and shows in areas but has been redone very nice. i dont like that not all parking is on site, its not far but still when you get in late its different to walk over to the hotel. the lot behind the hotel could use better lighting.
