Hyatt House Charleston - Historic District

Location to sight seeing attractions. Valets were super nice.

There was fire alarm during the stay that was a false alarm. The hotel staff didn't announce over the speaker an all clear. The word was passed by other people staying in the building.

We were so pleased with our stay here. The location was terrific; we walked King Street many times, to restaurants, shops and attractions and also used the free shuttles that take you all around. Room was spacious, attractive and clean, bed comfortable, shower strong. Breakfast was good--several hot items (eggs, meat, biscuits and gravy, waffles) and assorted breads, cereals, yogurt, fruit, juices. Mini-fridge in the room. Staff was friendly and available. Would def. stay again and recommend.

Breakfast was great, and sides varied every day. The courtyard was great, and self-parking was easy. The rooftop bar had great views.

Our original room was musty. After two days we requested a change, which they cheerfully accomodated. Only wished that we had asked when we first checked-in, but I thought the AC would dry it out.

The property is very clean and although it is a 15 minute walk to the market, there is a free bus that will pick you up on King and take you right there. The staff is fantastic including Naquan, Mallory, Xavier, and one of the other valets from Jamaica. his name is Jahwan or something like that. the Breakfast is really good.

The beds are hard but not intolerable and Sometimes the valet can take a while and some people were complaining about it. But you can scan your valet ticket while you are packing and have your car there when you come down to leave.

Overall, our stay was great. Breakfast had a lot of variety and to our liking. The lady who checked us in (from Ocala Florida) was amazing. She was friendly, courteous, talkative, interested in us where we where coming from, and purpose of our stay, and treated us extremely nice, She deserves a promotion/raise. The room was comfortable, clean and to our liking, Great view as well.

Just 2 observations. 1) One of the Concierge (male) was not totally honest with the information provided. Although I can understand that part of his job is to sell tours, I still believe that when he is asked questions that he should respond truthfully, rather than being deceiving to convince me to purchase the tour. 2) The gentlemen (older man) working the registration counter at 3 AM in the morning was rude and obnoxious. While checking out I requested assistance with transportation to the airport and he was very annoyed and bothered by me and my requests. Perhaps he should considered a different job

Loved the room set up with a sofa, desk with a good light, bathroom amenities. Breakfast was excellent and abundant. Staff was exceptionally polite, accomodating and professional. The valet service (which I know is separate) was excellent - fast, polite, no pressure to tip. Your prices are very competitive especially considering your accomodations.

Water pressure in shower was not great but the hot water was!!

Restaurants in area.

Location is excellent if you like to walk. All the GOOD restaurants are in this part of town. Only the one front girl was polite , bubbly and nice. Older gentleman followed my youngest daughter around while she was going outside to smoke.. Kept watching her. Bathroom has water marks all over, which makes me think they don't wipe stuff down . pool and gym closed whole stay , whole reason for booking this end of town. Gave up on asking front desk for help, no one knew anything.all the doors to rooms on our floor were open, any squatter could have come along and got a free room for the night.

We liked the free breakfast and the location - these were fantastic. Also, the people that worked the front desk were amazing!

We were not able to adjust the room temperature which was pre-programed to 72 degrees (too hot for sleeping) - sleeping was uncomfortable. Was not able to purchase coca-cola products. We needed to use the laundry facilities but they were sold-out of laundry detergent.

The location was good, the hotel bar & hotel rooftop bar were really nice, good breakfast and kind staff.

A lot of unexpected extra charges. One was the parking garage. The website and parking garage sign says maximum of $18 a day but it charged me $36 for 24 hours and when I asked about it the staff said it’s only $18 if you park after midnight.
