The Indigo Inn is located easy walking distance to just about all the main attractions. And walking is a key word because this is an incredible city to view up close. The room was spacious and comfortable and I can't say enough about the staff. They were to a person all helpful and welcoming, especially Margaret who greeted us at 2 a.m.(!) when we arrived late due to flight delays. The inn's center courtyard was lovely and ideal for eating the very expansive "continental" breakfast and for enjoying the inn's complimentary wine hours in the late afternoon (the latter a generous food and wine spread). In short, if we ever return to Charleston, the Indigo is where we're staying.

Anything I say here would be nitpicking

The staff is amazing! Every one we encountered was pleasant, polite, helpful. Especially the young lady at the front desk who was so very nice! We stayed the night we got off a cruise, and got to the Inn around 9:30 AM. We expected to just store our luggage since it was so early, but she found a room that was unoccupied and clean and checked us right in! The wine and cheese reception in the evening was very nice, and while it was a continental breakfast, the pastries were fresh from a local bakery, the coffee hot and good, and a toaster to warm up the English muffins, toast or waffles. Oh, and the location is perfect! A block from the City Market! We will definitely be back!

One very loud woman hanging out in the atrium late at night and early morning. Not the fault of the property, though.

We had a first floor room next to the beautiful atrium patio. Gentle music during the day with tables and chairs for relaxing in a quiet environment. The staff was so helpful . Breakfast was very good with delicious pastries, cereals , fruits, boiled eggs, toast, bagels, delicious jams, yogurts, juices, coffee and teas. The afternoon wine/beer and cheese reception was lovely way to meet people on the patio and relax. Fruit, cheeses, meats, nuts, dried fruits, wine and local beers. The antique queen cannonball beds were beautiful and sooooo comfortable. The linens were perfect. Plenty of towels and toiletries. Everything smelled so fresh like fresh flowers. There is not a handicap room, but our first floor room with two queens worked perfectly as no steps to room or patio. There is a ramp into the hotel at one door and railings at other front door. We did not have a car but there was onsite parking right at the door. We used the bike taxis to get around town and it was perfect.

Since this is a historic hotel our bath was understandably very small. The shower itself was large, but the toilet area next to the shower was very tight.. We did not have a problem but it might be a bit of a challenge if someone used a walker. I think I was told that there are not truly handicap accessible rooms, but we did not have any steps to get into our first floor room and there is a ramp into the hotel and no steps to patio.

Cannot find enough words to praise this property. We loved the whole ambience from when we arrived in reception, to our beautiful room overlooking the central open air atrium. The continental breakfast that we took out into the atrium each morning was excellent with juices and coffee, fruit, pastries, bagels and English muffins, sweet muffins and salami. Parking was plentiful and onsite. The hotel is right by City Market and King Street so it couldn’t have been better placed. Every evening they serve complimentary wine, beer, cheese and other snacks. If I had more time I could go on and on.

That we couldn’t stay longer.

comfy room and bed, nice touch to have complimentary happy hour wine and nibbles, good parking (Altho you pay for this) and great location for walking around town, staff very approachable and helpful, decent choice of continental breakfast items although v carb heavy

if the weather is bad the central courtyard can’t be used so not sure where breakfast could be eaten other than in room, some rooms quite close to noisy lift, use of plastic single use cutlery and plates for breakfast which I know is common in the US but is really not good.

2nd time staying at the Indigo Inn. Right where you need to be in Charleston. A small boutique hotel reminiscent of places we have stayed in Europe. End of day refreshments makes the stay perfect. We so enjoy the ambiance of the courtyard, the water fountain and just sitting each morning & evening.

If there is any negative it is the condition of the rugs in the room, not too clean. They need to be replaced.

Amazing hotel! When we arrived we were welcomed by a cheese & wine reception. I knew it but my family was impressed :-) The location could not be any closer to the historic downtown - it is inside! We loved our stay and agreed that Indigo Inn was one of the best hotels on our trip. Parking was also easy.

The plastic waste that each breakfast produces. That's what Indigo Inn has in common with almost all other hotels in the u.s. Pity. Of course, a pool could have come handy too but we accepted that this location does not allow the space for it.

We loved everything about our stay at the Indigo Inn. Upon arrival we were greeted with their lobby happy hour, which was an unexpected surprise. The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. Rooms are a little dated but that's part of the charm. It was very clean. The location is excellent, you can walk to many sites and restaurants. I would definitely recommend.
