Holiday Inn Express - Canyon, an IHG Hotel

Front staff was very nice at both check in and out. The room was clean. My husband loved the bed. I love the pillows. Nice breakfast selection. Easy to locate.

The breakfast line was a bit long because of the pancake maker being in the middle of traffic flow. I understand the space was being renovated, I would think that section would need to be moved to a more spacious location. The toaster for the bread and bagels was tucked away in a room opposite of where the rest of the food was located. The lovely woman working that morning was amazing, friendly, and inviting. Coffee was good!

The hot breakfast was fantastic! Turkey sausage for us non-red meat eaters and bacon and pork sausage for those that prefer that. Biscuits and gravy, fresh pancakes and chobani yogurt too! We loved the veggie egg white omelets, scrambled eggs and actually surprisingly good coffee. My diabetic husband was definitely appreciative of the variety of protein options! We were also very appreciative that the maids came every day to clean up and replace the towels and empty the trash. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in Canyon. We came to see Palo Duro and it was the perfect jumping off point. Having a hardy breakfast was so essential for our long hikes in the canyon.

The first three days the hot tub wasn’t working, and I had specifically chosen this hotel just to be able to use the hot tub after our long days of hiking. I only got to use it for 20 mins on our very last night.

The location was perfect. The hotel staff were personable and attentive.

Booking.com did not communicate with myself or hotel accurately. They caused much trouble not correcting my requested check-in date and insisting the property did not answer the phone or email. Transcripts of my communication with Booking.com were incomplete, omitting my request dates and contracted price. I had changed my arrival date two months ago and they would not ever confirm my request and insisted I pay a higher room charge. HIE was very helpful rectifying this long saga.

On check in I had a bit of a problem but kudos to Jessica for all her help in the check in process and throughout my stay!! Jessica should be considered for employee of the month on her professionalism and kindness!!

It was a bit messy from the construction and due to massive rainfall there were many leaks throughout the dining room but understandable!! The staff was great although of this issue and they continued to be helpful and friendly!!

Staff was great, hotel was clean

The hot tub was out of commission. The price for the room doesn’t change when one of the amenities I’m counting on isn’t available…. After hiking and biking all day we had looked forward to the hot tub while the kids played in the pool. It was a planned part of our vacation. To not have that dynamic kinda was a bummer. I wanted hot tub time w my partner after a family day with the kids. Idk. Not a deal breaker but just really bummed I didn’t get the vacation I needed.

The suite was large and comfortable. We enjoyed the large jacuzzi tub. Y'all thought of everything, even paper plates and utensils for small meals eaten in the suite. The room was dark enough to sleep-in instead of being woke up with sunlight coming through first thing in the morning, this was very nice.

The furniture in the suite was a bit older and was very thin cushioned, hard, and uncomfortable to sit on in the living room area. Breakfast foods for the complimentary breakfast, such as; eggs, sausage, biscuits, etc were cold but the breakfast had alot of selection which was nice.

Breakfast was good, but they had a hard time keeping the coffee hot and fresh. Other than that, everything was fine with a good choice of selections.

I couldn't get a printed receipt at checkout. She said it would be emailed to me. It's been about 22 hours and I still haven't received it. Also I know that it's not the hotels fault, but the last night of our stay, I smelled cigarette smoke from the hall. The door to the room could be sealed a little better.

The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Breakfast was excellent and well monitored. We appreciate that we were allowed to use table & chairs in the breakfast area to play cards and games as a family during evening hours.

The vent in our bathroom made an unusual noise. The hair dryer did not work and the first replacement dryer also didn't work. Three times was the charm.

30min drive from Palo Duro state park, warm and yummy breakfast, quiet nights, and pool and gym available. You can't beat that :)

Our bath sink kept leaking and the water went everywhere when we turn on the faucet. The hotel card did not open the side door making us walk further whenever we had to enter in the hotel. The warm pool was closed. But I assume those were technicalities they were trying to fix as soon as possible.

I liked how close the hotel was to the University, the canyon and to restaurants. We were also glad that there was a pool on site.

The people next door to us left their dog in the room and he howled and cried for several hours. The people at the front desk were very kind when I called about it, but there was very little that they could do.
