Holiday Inn Express Salt Lake City Downtown, an IHG Hotel

I researched many downtown hotels below the $250/night price point, and this is the only one without a plethora of bad reviews. The reviewers were correct--this is a gem downtown! Check in was easy, parking is included and is as safe as it gets downtown. Our room was very clean and modern--not fancy, but really pleasant! It had a coffee maker, mini fridge, and microwave (also all very clean), which is nice and not always included in low-to mid priced hotels. There were plenty of good quality bath linens, and the Watkins bath products smell great! The room was quiet (10 th floor) and street noise was manageable, but I do wonder if the lower floors facing West Temple might be pretty noisy. The complementary breakfast was very good, with a variety of hot and cold foods. We would definitely choose this Holiday Inn Express again!

Beds were very comfortable , good water pressure, good breakfast included.

We couldn't find a temperature in the room between arctic cold and hot. Also housekeeping never came by to empty trash or take dirty towels, etc.

Location across the street from Salt Palace, where our convention took place, was exceptional. Breakfast was delicious and a very good variety of food was offered. Bed was really comfortable. Everything was very clean. Housekeeping was excellent.

Two people on different days at the front desk were dismissive and rude. When we checked in, the room type we booked and prepaid for was not available, and we were given a downgrade. The staff member was argumentative and at first refused to acknowledge the problem and told us we had to "deal with it." Finally, a different staff member took over and got us a comparable room (slight upgrade). We asked for an extra blanket on night 2 out of 5 and never got a response. The 4th night, we were happily provided with one immediately from a different staff member.

Great staff. Bed was very comfortable. Covered parking even though I had to pay extra for it. Very convenient to the places I needed to be.

The hot tub could have been a bit hotter. The breakfast was good but sort of lacking in variety - always scrambled eggs or omelets. The eggs were expertly made though. The room needed a small table and chairs since the room had a microwave and fridge but no where to really sit up to eat.

It was clean the only employee we saw was wonderful, the room was comfortable.. and that we were able to have our car on the property

I would like to have had an ice machine near the floor I was on. I never could find one and I didn't want to get off on every floor to find ice. Nor did I want to go down to the first floor to find any. It was very overpriced. We shouldn't incur a separate cost for a vehicle to be able to stay on the property and to be secure. Isn't that what we're trusting your company for? In all our many years of traveling we have never had to pay a separate fee to have our car park at the motel we stayed at. I love the fact that it was locked in though, thank you for that. We are frequent visitors to Holiday inn and this is only comparing it to all the others that we've experienced as far as not paying separately to park your car.

Our car was locked in the hotel's parking garage, had to waited for more than 2 hours and paid a penalty in Cash to get it unlocked! Very bad experience! We were not the only went through this that morning. The hotel let a third party manage its guests parking. No license plate number registration, no signs on garage walls to remind guests to leave the parking permit card on flashboard. This is very inconvenient to hotel guests, but a good way for the third party to make money. Improvements are needed.

The location was fantastic! Very close to the convention we were in town for. Starting the day with the free continental breakfast was helpful. Housekeeping was excellent, entire facility was clean. Staff was very kind and accommodating.

More outdoor seating (benches, tables and chairs) would be nice. After being inside all day for meetings it would be nice to have a place to sit comfortably in the sun.

We really enjoyed our stay including the pool. The room was clean, the staff was helpful and the breakfast had a lot of choices. We had dinner across the street and appreciated the free parking. We will be back...

Some effort could be made on the tile around the pool above the water level. There is a buildup around the edge that can be easily cleaned. Soap in swimsuits, shampoo and conditioner can all adhere to the tile wall above the water line. Warm water and a little muscle and you can easily remove the ring which will then be collected by the pool filter. The same should be done in the hot tub spa. Once cleaned, it would be super easy to stay on top of it, because frequent cleanings won't take long since there will be no chance for build-up. This a great property so there is no reason you can't make the pool experience equally great with a little additional effort. We will RETURN!

Loved the location, very central to restaurants and downtown nightlife. Loved that it had a parking garage right next door and the area inside and outside was clean and safe. The room was very pleasant, clean and had a little fridge as well as a microwave. One thing I really liked was that there were soft and firm pillows. That was a nice treat. Typically I find that all hotel pillows tend to be the same and they often go for firm rather than soft. That was nice to have both.

These are small nitpicks. Our blackout shade stopped about 6 inches from the bottom of the window so it did let in light while we were trying to sleep. If you’re an early riser this probably won’t matter to you. If not, make sure to pack an eye mask. I wish there would’ve been a lamp on the desk. I was going to use it to do some crafting at night, but with the way the lights were set up the desk area was kind of dark. A lamp would’ve been really helpful. Overall though, terrific room/service. These were just things that stuck out for me.

Great breakfast, many different choices and fruits. I was assigned to a room that had a weird smell, so I requested to be changed and they solved it without hesitation!!! The new room was extremely clean. The bed and the pillows were comfortable and soft. There were ice and soda machines in the floor, and a 24h little market which is really nice!!!

It was amazing and I probably choose the same hotel when I’m back there.
