2500 Penn, a Placemakr Experience

Location was exceptional with easy access to the Metro and an array of excellent restaurants within walking distance. Staff was welcoming, respectful and very helpful.

The one-bedrrom apartment was too warm and stuffy. The in-room heater/AC was loud and ineffective for either purpose making it necessary to crack open windows to let air circulate (and, unfortunately, city street sounds, as well)

The staff was wonderful and so friendly! Once the AC was fixed the room was very comfortable. The kitchen was mostly adequate, it could have used some more cooking utensils and salt and pepper and sugar for coffee.

There was not any drinking water in the room and the room was never cleaned while we stayed. It would have been nice for someone to come in and remove the trash and refill the toilet paper. Also the carpet looked so dirty! It looked like it was carpet from 20 years ago and desperately needed to be deep cleaned! Also, our first night the AC was not working so it was very hot! but once it was fixed that part was much better!

The staff at the front desk are wonderful! So knowledgeable about the area and helpful. We were there for surgery at GWUH, and the location was perfect for us. During our 10-day stay, staff made wonderful suggestions for walkable sight-seeing that aided us in a speedy recovery. We were actually sad to leave, and miss the area a lot. Hope to return soon, and will definitely stay here again.

The common areas need air conditioning. Hot as it was outside, waiting for our transportation outdoors was preferable to waiting in the lobby. We felt sorry for the employees.

Desk staff was terrific!! Location also excellent for the price. I'd read a lot of reviews/browsed photos from prior guests so knew what to expect: they are older apts., worn around the edges and in need of some TLC but we heard that the units are scheduled to undergo gradual upgrades in the near future. That said, our unit was clean, had a comfortable bed, and was quiet other than some street noise expected in a big city (It's very close to a hospital so sirens can be frequent.) Some good restaurants within easy walking distances. A covered DC Circulator and metro bus stop and Trader Joe's across the street. A pricey wine bar on main floor; the patio can be accessed for personal use when the bar isn't open. Short walk into Georgetown. All good for the price; we'd choose it again!

The laundry!!! Only two washers and two dryers for a large building, and crammed into a small, unpleasant basement room. One dryer didn't work. FYI: loads paid by credit card or app instead of coins. One of our bathroom sinks had an nearly plugged drain but didn't report it as we had 2 other sinks. Bedroom clock didn't work but didn't report it either so that's on us. Bring a dishtowel, bottle opener and corkscrew (we did) as they were not supplied, and there may not be enough plates and silverware if you have 4 people in a 2-queen apt.

Wonderful size - looks just like a hotel but with addition of a kitchen so can self-cater. Staff on reception were so friendly and helpful. Loved that we could store luggage for free after check out until we needed to leave! Cheap laundry room available for use. Supermarket across the road and cafe next door. Bar downstairs. Close to all main sites. We walked everywhere. Also perfectly placed for Georgetown - fab for shopping. I would definitely stay again.

This is the only issue otherwise they would have had full marks for everything. The kitchen and all the appliances were VERY OLD to the point of the dishwasher not washing dishes properly. We would have been happy to wash dishes but no clothe/sponge or washing liquid was supplied. Also the cutlery etc catered for 4 people but the accommodation was for up to 6 so we had to share cutlery that we couldn’t wash up! Also there were no normal size spoons so we had to use teaspoons to eat cereal. I raised these issues with the owner and were given bathroom flannels for the kitchen and more teaspoons!

Location was great, staff were so friendly and helpful. Very close to restaurants, georgetown, metro and buses. The kitchens are fitted out with everything you need.

It was hot when we stayed there. The air conditioning system is like a lot of DC buildings, it is cool in summer and hot in winter. If you get some really hot days before the air conditioning system is changed to suit tue season it cab be very warm. It might be good to leave a fan in the rooms. But this isn't a big criticism, moreso a suggestion. There is notification left at reception that fans are available but this can be missed in the hassle and bustle of your day.

For a two-night stay in Washington it’s a perfect option for our family. The neighborhood feels safe and close to everything that is of interest to us. We found a street parking for our car. The hotel provides just very basic service, but it’s ok for a short stay and for a reasonable price in this location. We stayed for the second time and recommended the place to our friends who are coming in a few weeks.

Unlike over our previous stay this time the hotel didn’t provide any coffee for their machine. When we asked they said something like, here we have the last four. The sofa bed is extremely uncomfortable. There were even less dishes and utensils then over our previous stay.

I was worried after reading some reviews; but we loved our stay here. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable especially traveling with 4 children. Bedding and towels were quality; we loved the mini-kitchen. Our room was ready early and we could check in at 1, parking was no problem. We loved the 1 bedroom apartment for our family; it even had a small dining table. Everything was way better than my expectations. The heat worked; we were warm and cozy.

A couple furniture pieces were a bit aged; but this didn't affect our stay and wasn't a problem as we had kids with us. No complaints.

The hotel was so convenient to the bus and metro. We went to the Zoo and the National Mall all by public transit. We were even able to take the subway (Metro) back to the airport. This was the first time I ever tried to use public transportation. and I'm from a small California town that doesn't really use bus services. It was easy to navigate, and the locals were friendly and helpful. The actual hotel room was fantastic. It was like a small apartment and my granddaughter could go in the bedroom and shut the door for her private phone calls, while I watched TV on the couch. The kitchen was such a blessing, because with Trader Joe's across the street we could throw something in the microwave or make toast and not have to leave the room. Just like being at a home away from home!

Great location! Near entrance to Georgetown. Not too far from National Mall. Trader Joe’s and other shops nearby. Nice set up, with separate bedroom, sink in bathroom and sink with large counter in area between bathroom and bedroom, vanity mirror, sofa bed, kitchen! Comfortable bed. Dining area and living room. Friendly staff.

We really liked it. The complaints are minimal. There were a few ants in the kitchen. I wish the kitchen had salt and pepper. Cleaning fee seemed high.
