This is a property for the FIT - independence being the operative word. I really liked it - great location within 5 minutes walk of superb coffee (recommend Realfine just around the corner) and everything else typical of Capitol hill e.g. late night vintage store, music venues, Amazon beta store. Light rail is just up the hill, and it's an easy downhill walk into the downtown area. Everything you need is in your room. Sure they're small, but so well designed that you don't notice. As a solo traveller it's perfect, not so sure for a couple (the loo and shower are IN the room pretty much and it's cosy), however for a family or unrelated, you'll likely be happier in your own rooms. There is a service lift if you ring, otherwise you'll have to hulk your bags up the stairs. IOW it's not for anyone with mobility issues. I was on level 4, which is 2 above the street - it was fine. My room had a bay window which added precious space and an interesting view of the locals. Noise was OK, either people are reading the reviews and being considerate (thank you) or there wasn't any. Didn't need the complimentary plugs or white noise machine. If you're all about the human touch or service forget it - there isn't any. This is a zero human contact situation. Like I said - FIT. Your room has instructions for resetting your fuse and a plunger for the loo just in case - and a corkscrew. Proper attention to detail. Loved the cosy throw, nice toiletries - they've thought through what we really really want and need, and have kept it simple to keep the price down - big ups to the Sonder.

Can't think of a thing! Probably would have been good to have easier access to the service lift, in was OK, but out it was harder as I made the mistake of visiting Twice Sold Tales (just up the road) and Magus and who can resist a great book (or half dozen). Luggage lockers are a great idea - you can get in, chill in the lounge until 4pm when your room is ready, and/or store your bag and go explore. Really well thought through.

March 2023

This was the second Sonder I've booked, and I really enjoyed it. It's an easy commute from the airport using the 1-line (little less than an hour) and walkable to a bunch of major attractions (Cap Hill, Pike Place, Space Needle, Starbucks Reserve). The area is really lively at night, which was great. We didn't experience any noise issues, but our visit was in March (less touristy). Sonder provides a white noise machine, so it's clear they are trying to mitigate any issues with that. We also had a fridge which was great for late-night leftovers. I liked having a code to get in and out of the room and building. It's faster and easier than normal check-in. Check out Realfine coffee around the corner; super convenient. This place is an excellent value (just don't expect it to be luxurious! It's clean, cheap, and central!). Other note: We did not have a car and did a lot of walking or public transit and ubered when we had to. I'd recommend this Sonder for couples, short trips, and people planning to not stay in their rooms much I wouldn't recommend this Sonder for families (at least in the room I was in), remote work, or stays over a week.

We stayed in a queen room (room 106). The 100-level rooms are basement level, so you won't have a view, but the building is low anyway, so I don't think a view should be expected from any room. The room we stayed in was very small (although really well laid out imo). Personally, it was perfect for my boyfriend and me, but I could see it being difficult for people who need more space. Also, the shower is in the bedroom, and the glass is not frosted all the way around, so there isn't much privacy (I probably wouldn't book this with someone you aren't intimately comfortable with).

Just stepping into the building you were enveloped by a lovely fragrance. I was able to wait in their lobby and explore the neighbourhood until my room was ready. My room was comfortable and clean, and the one issue I experienced was resolved in minutes by their wonderful and attentive staff. The app was super easy to use for contacting staff, getting to know the neighbourhood and opening doors.

I like everything! However, the noises from the other rooms easily carries and since my primary mode of transportation was walking, it was a good distance from many of the sites.

The building is very central and close to so many different shops, bars and restaurants. The keypad entry was easy to use and simple with the Sonder app. The room itself was small but sufficient for small stays. As others mentioned the shower is right in the room so you’ll want to be comfortable that. We stayed on the 5th floor and it was a little walk up but not terrible. Every floor had a water dispenser. No complaints about noise. There is no parking on site but there the Harvard parkade across the street that we parked overnight for. We had to prepay for both days and used credit card. Was a little worried as the parkade was easily accessible to public but ended up having no issues.

The beds are only a double size, which was fairly comfortable but quite small for a couple.

Great location a few metres from a main street with buses. Realfine coffee just around the corner plus an Amazon Fresh for food supplies. The staff were very friendly and helpful. loved the modern fit out e.g. lighting, electronic door lock. Little pod coffee machine was good. Hot & cold water stations in the hallways were good. The communal lounge at the entrance is great, plus the luggage lockers if you get there early and need to store your stuff. There is also a bike room with space to hold four bikes hanging up.

While we loved the compact nature of the room where every square inch was made use of it was a bit tricky finding room for both suitcases.

There was little interaction with the staff, given the self check-in method, but I still felt welcomed by a note in my room addressed to me, and the general bright and positive vibe of the place. The room was clean and comfortable, and I appreciated the Nespresso coffee machine in the morning. I didn't notice too much noise from other guests. The location was convenient, both to Capitol Hill and the CBD. I really appreciated the luggage storage lockers, giving me more flexibility after checkout to spend more time in the city, unencumbered by my bags.

This wasn't applicable to me as I was travelling alone, but the shower is basically in the room, so if you're travelling with someone else you'd want to be comfortable with showering in front of them!

The location was perfect and within walking distance of most of the city. Room was small, cozy, and most importantly comfortable. The room had most everything needed and even when we needed something (a microwave) it was brought to us in less than 10 mins, at no charge, which was really nice.

The staff, in person, were not always available and did not understand the local transit system, which was a bit frustrating but we managed. When staff interacted, they were always as helpful as they could be though. I wish in person hours were posted at the reception-type podium.

Really clean and modern looking. The whole place smell really nice. Good location, you're near everything. They provide you with many things like towels, tissue box, hair dryer, new soaps and shampoos and conditioner, strong wifi, has a TV, fridge, they even gave you ear plugs for sleeping. Bed is really comfortable and clean. Lights are dimmable. They have filtered water machine in the lobby so you don't have to go and buy drinking water.

The wall is a bit thin, I could hear this one dude snoring all night, he was exceptionally loud though. A bit small if you stay with someone else or have lot of luggages, there wouldn't be room in the floor to put them. Homeless right down the corner. The fridge smell weird probably food from previous person.

I really loved the contactless entry and that there were essentials just down the hall when I needed it. The TV was essential for winding down after a long day. The bed and sheets, super comfy! Absolutely perfect location, truly in the center of everything. Can't recommend enough!

I would have really liked to have a microwave either in the room or in the common area on the main floor. It would have really helped with cutting down a bit on spending money out. It was also tough to come back after a long day and climb 6 flights of stairs to the room. Totally understand that putting an elevator in is not easy, but it is definitely something to consider when booking.

Nice clean room in a great neighborhood! Really centrally located - we just stepped right outside the front door to cafés, shops, restaurants etc. Very walkable to anything you might fancy! We drove into the city and there was a big parking garage at the end of the street which was really convenient and relatively cheap. The building was surprisingly quiet - I didn’t hear any sounds from the street or other guests. Easy to get into the building with your code, comfy bed, fridge in the room.

My only complaint would be the bathroom set-up. It wasn’t a separate bathroom, but rather the shower was in the main bedroom and the toilet was in a small closet-type room. It was fine and functional, but didn’t feel like you had much privacy!
