Mercure Canberra Belconnen

Th room was a great size and clean and very comfortable. We got a free upgrade which was a lovely surprise. The staff were very helpful, and the hotel was in a good location for our needs. The staff, particularly the Manager Cheyne was very helpful when I reported by bicycle stolen from my car in the carpark. Would recommend and would stay again, just be aware the carpark is not secure.

This is not a negative about the hotel or the staff, but unfortunately my new pushbike was stolen from a locked bike rack on my car, in the Carpark (public) but also used by Mercure. The staff had warned me to not leave valuables in the car, as it is a public carpark, but I naïvely thought the bike would be safe on the locked bike rack, lesson learned.

Ice machine (in basement) was very good. Great to have 2 chairs and space for 2 x laptops on the desk in our room. Bedside lighting was good. Parking availability was good. Open shelving on bedside tables was great - less chance of leaving items behind. Bathroom and shower were very good, plenty of pressure. Air-con was easy to control.

Ventilation was a bit poor - would be nicer to be able to open a window or vent (probably difficult to retrofit this though !). The amenities area (above bar fridge) was very cramped, hard to use on an extended stay.

Great place for stay, rooms are very spacious, kindly designed, with almost all required basic facilities, we also opted for breakfast buffet which was a great add on definitely, the hotel location is also very central, major attractions are 15-30 mins away by drive, there is a Woolworths just 2 mins walking distance and Westfield as well as a lot of eating out restaurant options! Overall it's good value for the price (although first I thought it's a bit pricey but now can vouch that it's totally worth it!!)

There isn't really anything specific that I did not like but an area of improvement possibly could be as even though it said that there were multiple types of pillows to adjust to different people's style but there was not a pillow soft enough the way I like it so that was an only uncomfy issue I can think of...

The room was great and we had great views of the surrounding area which gave us ideas on where to explore. The bathroom was amazing. The location was awesome, within walking distance of everything. We didn't spend a lot of time in the room as our child was competing at the AIS, but it was perfect for what we needed. The staff were amazing as well.

The room was a little bit stuffy and we could only run the air conditioning to fix that. There were 2 days of really strong winds which whistled through the air conditioning vents.

This was a last-minute booking for us as we had been having tiling done at home and needed to stay overnight close to home. The Mercure was excellent staff were friendly and we had paid for breakfast the next morning which was lovely. Food was hot, and the service provided was excellent. The staff member working at the restaurant was friendly and polite and nothing was too much trouble for her.

Teagan was the name of the person working at the Restaurant Sunday morning and she was excellent. She made sure the buffet area was clean, and food was hot, and she constantly cleared and cleaned the tables. We were very impressed as we have stayed at other Mercure Hotels, but this one was the best by far.

This place was great. Excellent room, lots of space, very comfortable. A good room to hang out in if you have stuff that needs doing, not just a place to sleep. The bathroom was perfect, great shower, all very clean and everything you could want. One of the best places I have stayed in within this price range. There is also a pizza place downstairs and 3 good cafes for the morning

I have to write something here but I have very little to say. The carpark is a little bit confusing I guess, and once you park there it is not so easy to walk your way out. This is a tiny thing and should not be taken into consideration really.

Everything was excellent, including the complimentary breakfast. The housekeeping was exceptional - my room was immaculately cleaned everyday. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Anything that I needed, it was sorted immediately. I had a quiet room, good shower, comfortable bed, secure parking ($12 per day). I will go back again when I'm visiting family.

There was nothing I could fault. I have never stayed anywhere before and not found something to complain about and I was there for a week.

We had to stay an extra night due to flights being cancelled. The staff did an excellent job getting us a room and even gave us an upgrade.

There were some minor issues with the cleaning of the lounge area and bathroom. There were some things not vacuumed up that were noticeable and we took our own toilet paper as we prefer it to others, and this was removed and replaced with the hotel one

Reception staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The king room we had was very clean and had a lovely outlook to Black Mountain. The linen and beautiful fluffy towels were of a high quality. It was also great to be able to walk straight through the Mercure’s lobby to the Labour Club for dinner. Parking is also convenient right under the Mercure building and there is a fabulous coffee shop right across the road. What more could you need or want!

My 76 yo mother and I stayed here for the night on a weekend girls trip to Canberra for shopping. I chose this hotel because it had a good star rating, was in a central location, had convenoent car parking for a reasonable fee and had a room with 2 queen beds rather than 2 singles. It met all expectations and at a price that I thought was very competitive compared to other hotels with similar ratings, location and facilities. Our room was obviously quite new, super spacious , beautifully appointed and clean. The beds, pillows and linen were very comfy and luxurious. Our room, despite being near the lift was very quiet , in fact we didn't hear a thing. It was also very handy having the Canberra Labour Club downstairs within the building for a decent bistro dinner and a good value breakfast. It was great to having the car parked within the building as well as it meant we could use the internal lift to go from our room on the 6th floor to our car on the 3rd very quickly and meant almost no carting of bags and luggage. Highly recommend this hotel.
