Sage Hotel James Street

Location was great with lots of eating out options in close proximity. Retail shopping choices was also a pleasant surprise. Our room the Deluxe King was great and the bed was very comfortable. Reallly enjoyed the balcony for sitting out and the views.

Every aspect of our stay was most enjoyable. We can’t think of any obvious improvements. Your reception staff were friendly and always ready to help. Our only surprise when reviewing online comments from other guests was the the lack of reviews from guests staying for more than a couple of days. Sage is great place to stay regardless of the length of your stay.

Love the location and contemporary feel of the hotel.

Housekeeping were not always completely attentive to cleanliness off the room. I stayed 3 weeks, and had to ask to have the room fully vacuumed half way through. They also had no Kleenex/tissues for 3 days. I also didn’t like that I was disturbed 3 times in the afternoon despite clearly having the do not disturb sign out. One time, despite saying I was in my pajamas, the staff member insisted they come into my room to place signage for meal ordering. This was not ok.

The staff were awesome. Great vicinity of good quality eateries to suit all budgets, easily walkable to the office on Warner street.

The room could have been cleaner. There was some dust on the lesser used shelves that I use to throw things that I don’t need and the bathroom could have been detailed more on the floor in the corners. Neither of these were even that bad that I called it out to reception, but thought I would mention as a point of improvement.

Location for restaurants and shopping was great; and only a short taxi ride into the city for the office. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel was easy to find. Good value for money as well considering other hotels in the area are significantly more expensive.

It could use a fresh coat of paint in the hallways - lots of marks and such on the walls. I also would have liked it to be more obvious that the gym facilities included in the stay featured a great outdoor pool! What a selling feature, and I wish I had known it so I could have brought a bathing suit rather than the boring gym clothes.

Location is the whole reason we stay at the Sage. Plenty of cafes and restaurants within walking distance. Easy cab ride to the city or the wharf precinct.

Unless you go for the most expensive rooms, we always seem to get rooms that look at brick walls. During our last stay, we couldn't get the TV to work and despite their best efforts, neither could the staff. We ended up being given the use of another room hours after we'd checked in but it was really inconvenient to move everything. We weren't able to negotiate a refund or discount with the hotel staff who were on duty over the weekend.

the location was very nice and practical, hotel has a very nice design throughout, bed was actually a double where as a lot of hotels nowadays push two singles together which has let me down previously. bathroom was especially nice and modern

no sort of pool/spa/sauna type facilities private to the site which would have been nice although is not a big deal as you know what you get when you book and the price reflects that. I was disappointed that there were no hotel dressing gowns which is a small thing I know however I was looking forward too it as I had seen it in the picture.

Location was fine - many cafes, restaurants and bars nearby not to mention beautiful shops. Our room had a balcony which was lovely as it would have otherwise been a little dark. Loved the pillows.

Housekeeping - in spite of hanging the relevant tag outside the door, the room was not serviced on the first day - even though we saw the housekeeper and told her we were going out for the rest of the day. This was disappointing - fortunately I had made the bed and hung the towels up but bins and cups needed to be emptied/cleaned.

It was great to have parking under the hotel - very convenient. The room design was sophisticated and pleasant (I find the art design in some Valley hotels can be an assault on the senses, but our room at Sage was lovely). The bed was comfy and I was glad to have a balcony. The staff were very personable and helpful. The location was nice and we enjoyed the walk into the Valley. Shops nearby were also good. Late checkout was appreciated.

It would have been great if the barriers between the balcony sections were a bit less see-through and a bit more private.

Spacious room with balcony, great sunset views, comfy beds and well equipped bathroom. Excellent value for money considering location, plus economical parking underneath hotel. Nice lobby, easy access to restaurants, cafes, shops and businesses. I’d definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Front desk/check in area appears a little strange and lacked the sophistication that the hotel deserves. Staff were friendly and helpful but the counter looks a quite messy with food/snacks, multiple things on display plus coffee machine. It was hard to tell if it was a reception area or a cafe.

Everything, I liked everything about this hotel. The staff were efficient, warm, friendly, responsive, kind, generous. I felt soooo welcomed and appreciated. The room was incredibly well laid out for the modern traveler, every single thing that I needed was right there, and not a bit of "over-done" The TV remote was friendly to use and the room was quiet, despite its location in the heart of a party area.

Early in the morning, on all three mornings, there was some kind of loud banging noises outside that woke me up, but I sleep with the windows open, so I guess it should be expected to hear loud noises..
