Mercure Hotel Berlin City

The room is comfortable and a decent size. Desk and chair are useful, plus kettle, and a fair amount of storage - maybe could use a bit more for 2 people, if staying for a week or more. Breakfast is a good selection and available until 10:30am (I think) - hot food (sausages, eggs, tomatoes, bacon), cold meats and cheese, bread, pancake (make your own in the machine), juices, coffee, croissants, etc. I tried the room service, ordering the burger and fries from the hotel kitchen - good. Checkout is generously until 12pm, with a luggage room at reception if you need to store things until later. There always seemed to be somebody on reception when I went past, so usually somebody available for any enquiries or difficulties.

The room layout is a little strange, having an internal window from the room onto the bathroom, so not so much privacy if you are traveling with another person.

Room was very clean and bright. Appreciative of the fact that kettle, coffee, tea were provided in the room. Since the lockdowns many hotels have become very stingy with these extra hospitality services. Mercure was surprisingly good. The location was comfortable with some eateries around the corner.

Hotel was very pricey for a weekend stay. It doesn't really cost this much in many other countries for a standard hotel. Berlin has little to offer, so I found this quite expensive for a small holiday. Since I travelled with family, I wanted a comfortable stay at a decent affordable price, but the options I found were limited. Front desk had just two young people with little information to help with. It is not an issue though.

This hotel was in a really great location - right beside an underground stop and about a 25 minute walk to the Bundestag and Brandenburg Gate. On this walk you go past a Lidl and a few cafes which was also really useful for getting food. Spacious, clean and comfortable room and bathroom. Recommend! We didn't have the breakfast, but it looked tasty from afar!

Nothing. We saw a few others had complained about noise but because our room was on the side of the hotel (not facing the main road) we weren't bothered by the noise.

The room was small but absolutely perfect. Very clean, the location is next to all major public transportation, coffee shops and restaurants. We loved it.

The only thing we just couldn’t understand were the individual duvets in a queen bedroom for a couple. We were constantly waking up cold with nothing on top of us, because once we moved the duvet moved and the heat evaporated. I know it’s not customary in countries like Germany, but please think about putting in a queen duvet in a queen bedroom. It would be much more comfortable and cosy.

It is in a good location and we booked a garden room which was nice and quiet. Good air con (quiet / effective) in the room we used. We hired hotel bikes which were satisfactory. Some have 7 gears, some 21. Could do with a service and some oil. Staff helped us pump up the tires. Some nice places in neighbourhood to eat breakfast / lunch (Buoni) and dinner (pizza place W on nearby junction where trams turn, 84 a block away - excellent Vietnamese food). Nice walk to Reichstag / river area.

The room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. The rooms were slightly on the small side and the USB ports within the room did not work. We did not include breakfast within our stay. The location was ideal as the tram was right outside but still a distance from the airport. We had 6 rooms booked and were not closed to each other which would have been preferred.

USB ports didn't work in room and the iron facilities were only on one floor. There was also no mini fridge in the room to keep drinks cool etc...

Just two stops from the Hauptbanhof on the tram [ either 10 or 8] and it stops literally across the road from the hotel - no need for a taxi. Excellent room - large space with easily controlled and very responsive, quiet air con. This was a godsend as temperatures were regularly in excess of 30C during my stay. Easily used shower with no 'bowl' to be stepped into or out of, in a moderately big bathroom. Everything very clean. Helpful staff. Huge breakfast choice - best I found during my three city stay. If, like me, you came to mainly see the Museum Insel then it was ideally placed, with the tram just outside the hotel and only a quick 5/4 stop trip. Also very easy to get to Charlottenburg and Potsdam / Sanssouci from the Hauptbanhoff; they are no more than 30 - 45 minutes away on very regular local trains, and can easily be walked to from the station. If like me you plan to visit all the museums and use public transport over several days [ more than 2], I strongly recommend you buy the COMBINED Berlin Pass + Museums Insel pass at about 55 euros. You will save a fortune in time, frustration and money, and it covers all travel out as far as Potsdam and Sanssouci. I also recommend pre-booking a timed slot for ALL museums. This allows you to go right to the front of the queue on at your allotted time - just show your 'slot' ticket on your phone- instead of waiting for up to 2 hours for admission at each museum. You can book online well in advance, and if you have a pass as described above, scroll down the various choices until you get to the ' with Berlin pass + museums Insel' choice. If you are not sure about your timings or which day, simply book more than one slot!

A city map would have been greatly appreciated, but none were kept at the hotel. Otherwise there is nothing negative to say!

My room was incredibly quiet, clean, and the air conditioning was a dream! Location was convenient for walking to the main train station, or getting on U6 to visit the sights. It felt as if I could get anywhere I needed to be in no more than 30 minutes. Staff gave a warm welcome and were helpful with questions. There's a a good selection of shops nearby (Rewe for groceries, a pharmacy, a coffee shop etc)

It would have been helpful to have a small fridge in the room. It felt like an odd missing amenity. Staff was kind of providing ice, but with a 4 night stay having a fridge would have been more convenient.

Was easy to find and well located, on a Sunday supermarkets are closed and we found it tricky to find a restaurant nearby open. The reception area was always busy, as was breakfast. Breakfast was great, lots of variety to suit all tastes and the lady welcoming you is very kind. We pre ordered a takeaway breakfast for our final day as we were leaving early, however they had forgotten us. Fortunately the night receptionist (Mohammed?) I think his name was super kind and gave us another bag. We found it amusing though to have hairdo sweets in it! Well connected hotel

Carpets as many have said need a real deep clean.

Great location. Easy to reach with public transport. Clean and quiet. Great breakfast. Good WiFi. Liked it a lot.

At 08.30AM the cleaning lady walked into my room while I was sitting on the toilet. It seems the cleaners can open your door while you locked it from the inside. Also strange moment to open the door of guests staying in the hotel (seeing that lights are on would seem a clear signal that the guest is still in the room) and also strange to open a door of a guest at 0830 AM when checkout time is 12.00. I did say hello to her. She tried again at 10.30 AM. This time I was sleeping again and told her to go away. The cleaning lady trying to clean your room before checkout time is really weird and also weird she can open your door while you locked it.
