A&O Berlin Hauptbahnhof

Really well located, close to metro, bus stops and trams. Good restaurant and cafes nearby. Bar in the hotel was also an advantage as they serve good beer and wine. Our room was quite big, with a private bathroom (which was really clean). Sheets were clean as well, no dust on the floors (important for us because of alergies).

Lack of AC/ option to open the window more. In June it gets pretty warm and lack of fresh air can be a bit annoying, we had to go downstairs a couple of times just to breath fresh air.

I recently stayed at A&O Berlin Hauñtbanhof and I was thoroughly impressed! First of all the atmosphere was fantastic, yound and cool people, families, colorful walls and nice shows.. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making my stay comfortable from check-in to check-out. In addition they’ve a luggage room. The room is good, clean, and elegantly. furnished, offering a beautiful view of the city. The amenities provided were top-notch. Additionally, the location was perfect, within 10 minutes walking distance of the central station of Berlin.

The walls are too thin I could hear every people’s movement, talks, steps.. During the night I couldn’t sleep because of the noise of other people returning to the hotel talking loud, running..

- Location is great for exploring Berlin, short walk to Hauptbahnhof with excellent public transport links - Shower was fantastic, hot and with strong water pressure - Nice, well-priced downstairs bar and lounge - We didn't have to use it, but there is a Covid testing centre at the hostel, which could be handy for some travelers

- Beds were pretty uncomfortable, hard metal frames with thin mattresses (also a lot of sharp metal corners you could hurt yourself on - banged our heads and legs more than once) - Room was really, really warm, even in winter (and opening the window made it too cold)

They gave me a key for the wrong room. I opened the room and someone was there sleeping! I went to reception and they gave me another room but i was worried the whole night they will make the same mistake and some could enter my room. That was not super safe.

The A&O is centrally located at walking distance from Berlin's central station and just a few steps from a supermarket and a coffee shop. I stayed in a private room in the 4th floor and it provided the basics for a comfortable stay. Even if understaffed, the check-in took less than 5 minutes and all the staff was friendly and helpful. There is also a bar next to the reception where one can get coffee, drinks and different snacks during the day. As other guests have mentioned, there is no air conditioned in the rooms so it can be hot during summer. From what I could see at the reception, one could get a ventilator, however in my case it was not needed. Some guests were noisy during the night, however, this has nothing to do with the management.

The silicon in the shower should be changed, as well as deep cleaned to avoid mold.

Clean, comfortable, organised, spacious dormitory. Toilet was separated from the bathroom which worked well for the three of us.

Multiple narrow corridors and few open areas outside the rooms for socialising. It felt really enclosed, almost prison-like. Despite there being a curfew on noise restriction at 10pm we still had people outside our room chatting & laughing loudly. I had to diplomatically let them know we were trying to sleep. The room door didn’t really offer much noise reduction either.

This hostel is the third one I've stayed at, and it completely blew my expectations about hostels in terms of accommodation. The room we've booked was very clean with some minimalistic furniture placed in it, which in turn made staying in the room a very relaxing experience. Our room was well soundproof, and the temperature was cool. Because of these two, I and my grandma have had a gorgeous night sleep. Additionally, the hostel is located near the main train station, which means you can get to almost anything just by walking a few minutes to the station. Overall, this hostel is a must for those, who want to get a good night sleep in a place not too far from the railway station.

Excellent location, walking distance from the main station of the city. Good, firm mattresses, and plenty of room to move the beds apart. Fresh towels every day. We enjoyed playing pool downstairs, and it's quite cheap too. The pizza machine outside was a really fun surprise.

The coffee downstairs isn't really worth trying. Couldn't turn the showerhead to a good angle, and the hose was leaking. The room was a bit too hot at night with the window closed, but it was too cold when we opened the window. We would've liked it a lot more if we could play our own media on the TV.

This was my first stay in this chain of hostels and I was very pleasantly surprised. There is a youthful vibe at this particular accommodation, but the guests are not form one generation - there is a great variety of ages. I travelled with my daughter who is physically disabled. This can often be tricky because 'wheelchair accessible' is not the same for everyone. We asked for photos of the bathroom and room after booking and the staff were quick to accommodate our requests. We were given a wheelchair accessible room (with 4 beds) for just the 2 of us and the facilities were excellent. There was a lot of room, no carpet and the bathroom was also spacious and well equipped. The staff were helpful but special mention needs to made of Elena who made some good restaurant recommendations and helped us resolve a tricky situation that could have been quite devastating.

Sadly this does not reflect on the staff or the premises but by the very fact that it is in the lower price range it attracts school groups/students/young travellers. Unfortunately they do not have the manners or the good sense to be quiet when everyone else is sleeping.

Everything was clean and well maintained, not much noise besides other guests. The staff was friendly and helpful. A lot of the guests were also foreign tourists.

Instead of standard lockers there were cages under beds. They made a lot of noise and you had to keep everything packed in bags for safety (a laptop could fit between the bars). But you could fit all your stuff in there. Also remember to bring your own large locker because they cost 5 Euro in there from what I remember. I'm not sure if this location is the best for sightseeing. It was close to the monuments and government buildings in the center but besides that you had to use public transport anyways.
