Hilton Cologne

Big room (with wooden floor), excellent location, excellent breakfast (paid separately). The staff was nice, but nevertheless didn't help much with my needs about the final invoice format.

Different per night room rate, not announced in advance in the reservation. This caused me problems with our accounting department and a personal financial loss. The view from the room was bad - it was looking at another building, probably not far than 8-10 meters away. There were some construction works going on in the hallway on my floor and going through it was not very pleasant. There was complimentary water in the room, but only for Hilton Honor members, which is a bit unpleasant for non-members.

The breakfast is fantastic and well worth the up-charge. There was a huge variety on offer, hot and cold, and all was fresh & tasty. The location is great, too. We had a view of the Dom from our room, which was lovely.

Check-in staff (well, one of them) was actively unhelpful. Told us our room wasn't available for early check-in, and told us to to sit and wait in the lobby, implying that she would do something to help, but not following up with us, and then proceeding to check in a half-dozen other guests early. We finally learned from our mistake and approached a different staff member, who got us straight into our room. We'd probably still be waiting on the first person.

Extremely clean rooms. Especially, in current pandemic times, I did feel safe and well looked after. Disinfectant spray and wipes were also available throughout the lobby so you didn’t even have to worry about touching the buttons in the lift. The breakfast was delicious and you were really spoilt for choice. I booked „last minute“ over the app after disastrous conditions I was faced with in another hotel. At 10 p.m and with a tired infant in tow, I was desperate to find some alternative accommodation. Hilton didn‘t disappoint. Not only was I attended to immediately, I was also told to go and unpack first and finish the formalities when I was done. I was also promised that the Hilton staff would try to save my day and make it a bit better. Guess what, that’s exactly what happened. I was even given a room with a view of the Cologne cathedral (nice touch). Throughout my stay everyone at the reception desk was really helpful. I was able to book a late check-out (15:00) on my last day and the carpark charges were reasonable for the city-centre Cologne.

During my check-out, there were still some guests in the reception lobby taking off their face masks. I think the message from the Hilton staff regarding the safety precautions could have been clearer/stronger in this regard. Other than that, I really can‘t complain about my stay.

Easy to drive to by car but don't forget to apply for a low emissions sticker for your car before you go there. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Great breakfast but hotel restaurant has only a very limited menu. Lovely hotel to spend a relaxing weekend with friends or partner. Great city for shopping also. I must mention that we stayed here over Christmas and as the city is mainly closed on Xmas day we spent most of our day in the room watching movies. Imagine our surprise when the housekeeping staff knocked on our door with a plate of Christmas cookies, oranges and a beautifully personalized Christmas card. This was a lovely touch. Thank you Hilton Cologne for making our Christmas stay memorable.

Hairdryer in the room was not great. Will bring my own next time. Parking in thus hotel is very pricey at 32 euros per night.

Location to the main train station was superb. Front desk staff was very accommodating and restaurant staff was great. Very nice hotel and the food was exceptional.

Room was a little boring and small. Only one outlet to plug into so bring an adapter or power bank. Sauna hours are not very convenient and it didn't fit my schedule so that was disappointing but a good hotel.

The location is perfect for the station and was near the venue for a gig we were going to. The hotel room was spacious and the bathroom was very clean and had great facilities. My husband used the gym and said it was good and open 24 hours. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. All staff were friendly and helpful and the cocktails in the bar were great.

Rooms didn’t appear to be sound proofed so we were woken early by both outside and in hotel noise (which included housekeeping).

The location is excellent. Easy walk to the city center: Cologne train station, cathedral, Rhein and Cologne Dome for musicals

The staff. The woman on reception was very good when we checked in however we had a drink at the bar after the musical we were there to see and the bar staff were absolutely shocking. Between the two of them they couldn’t bring us two gin & tonics! The price for that service was ridiculous! Would definitely not recommend having a drink at the hotel bar.

The room was very comfortable, the bed was firm and very good. The gym has everything that is needed. The breakfast has a very good selection and you could take away a coffee as well. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is excellent, just around the corner from the main train station, the shopping, museum and cathedral are all a short 5 min walk.

We could not book using a debit card.

Excellent location in central Cologne, about a block from the main train station and close to the cathedral and main shopping and tourist areas. Excellent staff at the check-in. We had a large room with sitting area and refrigerator. The couch had not been made into a bed for our third person, but when reminded, someone was sent immediately and took care of making up the bed while we were at dinner. Very happy to receive a late check-out after the marathon.

Attention to detail in cleaning was lacking (dirty drinking glass, hair in shower, etc).

The room was comfortable and had enough space for 3-4 luggage bags. Basic amenities like toiletries and bath robes were not placed in the room but were available upon request. The view from the room was spectacular too (we stayed on the 6th floor).

My slight disappointment was only regarding the breakfast since it was the same for all 4 days and not many options for vegetarians. But this could perhaps be a European hotel thing so no big complaints.
