Hotel Kunibert der Fiese - Superior

We arrived in Köln, and found a parking garage very close to the hotel. A few minutes walk brought us to the narrow entrance to the hotel, where we were met our concierge. We were able to access our room with an elevator. The room was small, but well appointed. There was no air conditioning, but we were provided with two fans. Bathroom was nicely appointed. The location of the hotel was outstanding! we were right on the river front of the Rhine, with lots of outdoor seating for a large variety of restaurants. It was not raining, so lots of people were enjoying the afternoon at the park and restaurant. We had a lovely view of this from our room. We were able to order a lovely breakfast at the hotel restaurant.

The hotel is small, with narrow hallways and small elevator. The pictures of the site made it look grander than it is, but our family really like the hotel.

Great location, looking over the Rhine. Quite oldie worldly, but all the better for it. Lovely and comfortable room and very clean. The restaurant is very good, with an excellent selection of breakfasts, lunch and dinner time foods. Restaurant service is also very good too. Cologne is great for a city break of 3 or 4 nights, plenty to see and do and an amazing selection of restaurants to choose from. Oh and a visit to the chocolate factory is a must do trip - fabulous place !!

The city itself is not what I recall from previous visits - 15 and 17 years ago. Unfortunately, it's got a lot dirtier than it used to be. Think Manchester and London and you'll get the idea. The city used to be so clean, no litter anywhere and lots of beggars, sadly it's lost it's charm somewhat.

This cute and cozy little hotel is located very conveniently overlooking the Rhine. The view on that side is great, and the staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. We arrived early but could already go up to our room and leave our stuff there. The rooms have everything you need, including basic toiletries. The WiFi worked great during our stay, too, in contrast to some of the other reviews. The location is ideal for exploring the city. It's within walking distance to some of the major tram/metro locations and the central train station, as well as to the Dom.

While lovely, the hotel is starting to show its age. It's not dirty or unclean, but there are some stains here and there, and small holes in the carpet, stuff like that. The beds in our room were also just a little bit sagged and I could see some springs sticking out through the bottom of the bed. Some of the lights were not working, either, but there are so many lights in the room that this is not an issue at all. Nothing major though. This place is excellent value for the prices they ask, especially considering the location.

The value for money at this hotel was really good. I knew the hotel isn’t luxury and I didn’t need it to be either. I needed a decent hotel in a good location and that’s exactly what it is. They even put me in a river view room which was a real bonus after I requested it and they said it would be €15 a night, so I had decided to leave it.

Shower temperature sometimes randomly changes, but other than that everything was fine and exceeded my expectations for the price I paid.

Hotel looks out onto the Rhine river frontage and some rooms have this view. There are lots of bars and cafes nearby including one underneath the hotel, which is both good and bad as clearly there will be some noise to balance the convenience. That said it was not very noisy with the window shut and it wasn't a problem. Room was fine, was only there one night so it was just a place to lay my head but bed was comfortable and everything worked as expected. Receptionist was helpful and welcoming. Just a good all round experience.

Shower room could use a bit of work, it had clearly got damp and some of the frame had shrunk so needs fixing properly, not a big deal for me but should be sorted. Cologne has a low emission zone which I wasn't aware of - would have been nice if booking.com had something to warn about this when booking, though I realise this is down to me.

The room has had some very nice fittings and decor was fresh. Main beds were very comfy, although the put-up bed was hard. Bathroom - shower was all new although the sink and toilet were a little older. It was clean enough. Soap and shower gel provided. There was a lift which was essential.

I had checked in advance and confirmed by email that we could ask at reception for a kettle for the room on arrival. We asked for a kettle and were told this was not possible. Slight smell from the plumbing pipes.

Well-updated old building with a great history. Room was airy despite hot weather, fan supplied. Great staff, fabulous location on the Rhein bank, close to Köln main station. Great food, served until late. We had a fascinating conversation with waiter André who was top notch. A very helpful gentleman was in charge of reception. A cheerful and helpful woman served breakfast. The whole place was clean and welcoming. We will certainly visit again.

There wasn't anything!

The location was perfect! Walking distance from the central station, with a view of the river, many restaurants downstairs. The area felt "alive". A bit noisy but of course it should be expected since there were many restaurants with outdoor serving below the building. The door in my room doesn't have sound proofing so I can hear people walking and talking, passing by the corridor but I came prepared and wore earplugs anyway. The room was good, the carpet could use a bit more vacuuming but it was alright. The staff at the reception Ardeshir was an absolutely delight! He was very approachable, nice and accommodating.

Great location, the view of the Rhein is amazing. Walk to many local attractions and right next to the Christmas markets, if you are visiting in December.

This property is a little run down, which is reflected in the price. However, one issue that you may want to consider is the shower. The door was broken and the water temperature changes throughout your shower, often scolding you.

Excellent location with beautiful views and near plenty of attractions. Very easy to reach from the airport with transport links nearby. Quaint room with nice bathroom facilities and enough power outlets.

Staff were almost never at the check in desk for queries - I had to return on four separate occasions before seeing someone who could help. Rooms were quite hot with no air conditioning. The rooms are right above a restaurant which closes at 1am, so can be quite loud at night and also in the morning.
